Could you please add an option to alter the sound on the main menu? I was looking for a mute button (no offense, the music is nice) and it took me a while to find it. Nevertheless a great game, like all your others. This one is probably one of my faves!

I wonder how they tell that a game was made in under 24 hours. How do they know you didnt have logic, sprites, animations, etc already made?
Mostly an honor system. But a lot of people create timelapses of their screen over the 48 hours and make it into a video (which is really cool to watch a year later). From The Black's is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-FQKtNnWhU

Sir, a vast armada of ships from unknown space is heading to our home, randomly firing weapons and attempting to ram our only defender in range of stooping them!" "They are probably friendly, lets send them food

You might want to run your code through a profiler; it shouldn't run as a slideshow on a system that is only 3 years old.
It depends on your setup. Since it's written using stage3d, if you lack hardware and drivers that don't support hardware acceleration in flash, you'll get terrible performance since the software fallback is terrible. Try hitting ~ to bring up the debug console, and if it says "Software Rendering" in the upper right, your system doesn't support hardware acceleration.

what's with the pause? sometimes when the game gets paused (when I click some other tab or anything outside the game window) I cannot get it un-paused. it says "click to focus", and I click, but nothing happens.
For anyone with this issue, could you send me your OS, flash player, and browser. There appears to be an issue with the pause, but I haven't been able to replicate it which makes tracking it down hard.

I think some people here think too realistic and downrate it for that reason. + The decoded message says the automated drones were sent up front and since they don't recognise you as their species and they attack. Great game but the ending made me a little sad at first. D:

as other people have said, the "twist" really, really doesn't work considering that the "defensive" line unleashes hell on you as soon as they see you. your "we were the monsters all along!!!" twist doesn't really work as it is.

Click outside of the game and it says "PAUSED click to focus." Half the time when I click on the screen it starts back up. Half the time it does nothing and I have to refresh the page. Still a fun little game though.

It helps with the lag when you turn the quality to low; for some reason Shrapnel mode just doesn't want to work though.

To unlock the secret mode, don't attack any enemies. After you've dodged the first few waves, it will be triggered automatically.
You might want to beat the game first, though.

Updated with autofire (press F to toggle it), and fixed the issue that was causing the menu tooltips to not align with your mouse position correctly. Please let me know if you find other issues! And if anyone else has the issue where the game hangs when losing focus, please send me any info you can to help me track it down. Thanks for the feedback!

A few odd issues: your own bullets are nearly invisible, they could use some better coloration.
For some reason my mouse did not correctly line up with the tooltips in the shop (the buttons worked fine though) although the location changed each time I opened the shop.
Losing focus while in the shop hangs the game (!)
I've found the tooltip issue and will upload a fix for that soon. I'm not able to reproduce the losing focus hanging the game, so if anyone has info on that, it'd held! As for bullets, I found that having them harder to see made it much less confusing and frustrating when trying not to die, but I can see your point.

The only suggestion I can think to make is make the space bar the upgrade menu. It would make it slightly easier to get into it. Great game and agreed, criminally low rating.

I think it would be interesting, by the way, if you could get a different ending if you let the messages decode without attacking.

In the upgrade menu, whenever I highlight the upgrades for the strike gun the game recognizes it as highlighting the ship upgrades.
What browser, OS, and flash version are you using? And can you confirm if you are at 100% zoom level in your browser? I'm not able to reproduce this on any of my setups.

I absolutely love this game, the upgrade style is superb, it's not too hard, and the music is just phenomenal. You never cease to amaze me Arkeus!

Brilliant. Some minor adjustments are required: Please inform the player that they keep their upgrades on death! I didn't know this at first, and spent ages dying in the first 10 seconds thinking that my ship was terrible. Despite this, the game is brilliant!

Great game, really fun, it keeps the same great art style that I love about your other games, and the upgrades seem to be perfect.
It feels great to play, it controls nicely, and I'm already addicted!

"commincations"? This is 2013. Time to lrn2spellcheck. Also the game would not process any key or mouse click at that point so that was as far as I could get!
Oops. Strange how I've read that a million times and never noticed it was spelled wrong. Will get that fixed. As for the mouse problems, what OS/Browser/Flash version are you using? I'm not able to replicate the issue. (Edit: Also, you must use space in the dialog, I'll try to get that changed to be any key or click).
