BTW, this is Dragon's Quest Episode One, from what I see. If you want to see the end, rate this highly. Otherwise the developer might skip it and I personally think that'd suck.

I bring news about Dragon Quest Part 2!
The developer has confirmed he is still working on DQ2! He admits it’s been a while, but he’s definitely not going to quit making it! The developer has also confirmed Part 2 will the the final game in the series, you will fight the dragon. He just wants everyone to know that the sequel is NOT dead! The developer is working on different games, but once they’re done, hopefully he’ll get back to work on DQ2.
So everyone sit back and be patient, DQ2 might not be out for a few for months… maybe years.

This game got a lot of things right 4/5! Criticism: piercing + agility upgrade was clearly best combo, and ranged weapons were rarely viable; balance the weapon trade-offs.

Pleasant game. Three notes: 1) The already-mentionned scroll bug. Use a scroll, then sometimes you can sell it for infinite money. 2) You can go right in the queen's layer. You then disappear from screen. 3) I can't find a quest, the 4th one on the right column. Anyone knows what it is?

It's one of those games that you can break by simply putting everything in defense. Almost too simplistic, but the cheap powergamer in me loved it.
I like the general direction of the game, alone the possiblity to block in an action rpg deserves to be applauded. Still the combat isn't very challenging, it demands neither a feel for rhythm nor reflexes from the player. Also, some special attacks, abilities, feats would have pepped up the game a lot imo.
Storywise the ending, or rather the lack of an ending is dissapointing. Breaking up just after you brought the ressources because of the bad weather, is a bit lame, and feels like the developers run out of either time, ressources, energy, or everything together.
Overall a good game, but with a lot wasted potential.

i didnt finish on how to make the troll come. After you have about 10 fish you can get them from the front of you boat city or from the ninja place below. You pick them up by pressing space. them you go to the bridge and eat the fish. you can eat as many as you want the more you eat the more trolls

You can drop any unneeded items you are carrying. Just click on them and in the top left corner of the item box you should see a red circle with a line through it. If you click this it will ask if you want to drop the item. This lets you get rid of useless items like crumpled notes.

Well,I always thought that scroll of fireball was better than the scroll of thunder. Then I realised that the scroll of thunder has twice the attack speed of scroll of fire. For those who were wondering.

LOL this game needs hotkeys. What good is healing when I have to bring up a menu screen and die while trying to heal?????

To sell items, you need to stand directly next to a merchant and bring up your inventory [shift].
To drop items, click on the item and select the little red circle with the line through it in the upper left hand side of the item dialog box.

the tutorial is flawed... alot... can you switch clicking to spacebar? its alot easier, so people doint have to re-position thier hands every time... also, i cant see what strength does in the tutorial, the instructions block what its instructing you to do

well its been 10 years. over the course of that long time, i loved this game dearly, i am now 17, so before i turn 18, i will place credit where credit is due, This game sparked my love for RPG's i will never forget this games affect on my childhood, and forever i will love and remember it. according to other comments DQ2 in 2012 was announced to be in the works but 8 years later iv yet to see anything about it. This game's controls are frustrating. I love the overall play of the game, but it shouldn't be a requirement to use the left side of the keyboard, the right side of the keyboard, and the mouse at regular intervals. Option 1: Make it possible to navigate all menus using keybinds only. Option 2: Move the movement keys to WASD, and change the action keys perhaps to F (fast attack) R (ranged attack) E (block) G (heavy attack). It's pretty impractical to try to move and attack at the same time in this game, so there's no harm in using the same hand for both activities. Please consider making one of these changes.

i wish we could hotkey (1,2?) the potions/recovery items... the game doesn't seem to pause when I access the menu... so whenever I try to use a potion, the enemy just kills me.

i want cooler sounds like when your wife got kidnapped by the dragon there must pop up a song.And if you hit sum thing there must be a slash sound and alot more sounds!! oh and awesome game 5/5 :)

cant wait to see next episode. wouldve been better if you used arrows and space to navigate menus instead of mouse though. also the cheats actually made the game more fun, loved the uzi lol

Great game, just one small complain though. It'll be great if you can cancel the information box by pressing space when you look at your weapons and equips

For the trolls on the bridge you need to go south where the intersection to the boat is and grab the pungent fish off the ground.
