The launcher is not upside down. Take a look at the lower left, you're on the other side of the planet. Also, see the line that says Equator as you pass it.

Update: I got every single upgrade within 13 days and still haven't reached mars. However DO have reached the limits to my patience, not gonna get this botd.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
well.... this is possibly the worst game I've ever played.
Launcher is upside down, most upgrades don't seem to improve anything, and it is just not fun, gonna be a pain to get the botd today...

For hard badge, day 1 is luck dependent. But you MUST buy lv3 radar and at least one level of fuel sucker - aka get at least 1200$ in first day. Day 2 is way easier, you just find platforms and hit them; if you don't reach Mars in day 2 then just use money you got in day 2 for E-rockets, maxed fuel sucker, more fuel and rocket thrusts - day 3 will be super easy

I got the hard badge in 2 days. Here is what you need to do
1) skill 1 point into all 3 launcher talents + fuel tank
2) hope that you get a lucky launch, so that you can buy a max radar + drain talents in the next run. If not, restart
3) Keep hitting platforms. The multiplier is crazy overtuned. The drain talents help you stay in the air, while you use the little fuel to navigate platforms.
4) try to hit purple > yellow > green > blue platforms in order.
5) Should you not be able to hit Mars by that run, keep skilling drain talents + fuel tank/boosters.
THE LAUNCHER IS USELESS! You only want to skill it early to get some better earning potential on your first day.

It's a learn to fly-esque game that fails in many levels. the badge contradicts the game (Since you need to grind to obtain money to go farther, you most likely won't be able to go to Mars on the 20th day) and it's a luck based game. 'nuff said.

After hours of trying to get the easy badge...........I realize that I have been shooting the hedgehog the wrong way.

Tried following people' suggestions and looked for a walkthrough... still no dice, clearly its a game that works for some and not for others. It should not be a botd!

After a few tries, I got to Mars in 12 days. As others have said, you only need to buy Height, Band, Fuel Tank (with left and right when you can), Radar and E-Rocket. I went for height and fuel initially, radar as soon as I could afford it. Then just try to stay in the air as long as possible, and max out the enhancements mentioned. If you can bounce around in space for a while, by around day 10, you can earn big bucks. I got around $64,000 on day 11, and with maxed out comrades, I sailed to Mars without even bouncing on platforms. It's not a bad game, but I leave it to the dedicated to earn the hard badge ;-)

@archerbob If you read the page after making it to the Moon, it would tell you that you need to go past it to make it to Mars.

Easy badge doesn't work, I've bought everything and still have $2 million with nothing left to spend it on. I thought the little circle was supposed to represent Mars and that's where I had to go but after bouncing around for half an hour I gave up. This game' badges are broken...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The Easy badge shouldn't be an easy badge because the amount of time, effort and luck is ridiculous like when the world generation isn't there to launch you up so you fall down a few thousand feet or in the beginning of the launch when you have trouble landing on launchpads to bring you to a higher altitude.I nearly hit Mars but then fell down 10,000 feet back to the moon.My poor luck caused me to get to mars on Day 24 despite getting a modest level 1 Radar and E-Rocket on day 2.Oh Well.. my biggest complaint isn't the luck but rather that it's time consuming and 40 minutes of my life was wasted trying to get an easy badge which in the end I didn't even get.:( Sorry for the long Comment or if I seemed Negative.

This game absolutely SUCKS! As others have said, COMPLETELY luck based! "Easy" badge really should be listed as "Hard!!!"

Utterly terrible game with serious balancing issues. First few days are nearly blind luck; restart if you need to.
Day one: buy fuel, left & right rockets, and height. To launch, drag the hedgehog down to the pause button and release. Once you clear the surface, gently steer with left/right arrow. Try and hit platforms. Those will bounce you up a little. Try to snag coins. Coin score is multiplied by a figure based on run height & duration.
Your goal is to get $400 in the first few days to buy radar 2. It lets you see ALL the platforms. From that point, you can bounce around longer & earn enough money to buy more fuel. Once you do that, more left/right rockets so you can get to more platforms faster. At this point, the game becomes ridiculously easy. Get other upgrades as your money allows. E-rocket is "nice to have", since it can shoot you back up when you risk falling down to oblivion.
Made Mars in 11 days. Good luck and don't let this game get to you.

And the game doesn't even save after a launch/day so you have to start from day 1 when you reload or come back to the game
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The controls don't work on this game you can't steer right or left so no thrusters until you are on the ground flight over, ie animation run over. sort out the controls PRIORITY over animation.

I decided to play a little more. And it got worse. Who writes UI that you have to launch by dragging over the HUD? And why can I launch UP and DOWN when up does me no good - it's like an Easter egg to how to screw yourself. Who in the world writes this garbage? 1/5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Brutal game. Very slow start, very little skill involved, stupid launching concept. This is the second worst of these types of games...and that's saying something. 2/5

Hard badge:
day 1: height 2, width 1, band 1. Stay up in the air for as long as possible, and if you don't get around $5,000 just reset.
day 2: 3 radar, 2 e-rocket, 8 height, 4 width, 4 band, fuel tank 6, left rocket 3, right rocket 3. Use any remaining money in the same proportions. Again try to stay in the air for as long as possible. It should be easy because of the radar and e-rockets. You should get $10,000 to proceed, but you might get way more (I got 80k on first try)
day 3: 4 fuel sucker, raise width and band to the same level as height, if you can, raise e-rocket to 3 or 4, and use the rest on fuel tank, right rocket and left rocket. Just try to get as high as possible with e-rockets and platforms, shouldn't be too hard.

I'm so proud of myself, I've been trying to get the hard badge for years and I managed it on my 2nd attempt coming back. wow

This game has a rough start, but then suddenly gets too easy, absolutely broken difficulty balencing, even for these types of games. Plus, the game dosen't tell you what "Restart" means, the game locked up so I thought it restarted the day, but NO, it restarts the WHOLE GAME!!! Also, the fact there is "better" hats than the cowboy one is just wrong in this day and age. smh
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
ok, after 5-10 minutes and a couple upgrades i had a lucky run that returned 150k or so, which allowed me to buy all the top upgrades, and with the next launch i only pressed up while going up and that got me to mars. this was, and there isnt even a contest, the easiest launcher-game i've ever played or seen.

First day get fuel tank and 1 left 1 right rocket or two of one side, either way works. Might as well spend last money on height.
If on first day you can not get at least 400 for level 2 radar, restart. Otherwise get level 2 or 3 radar, fuel tank, some increase in left right rocket and fuel tank
Second day i you need to carefully aim for each platform trying to say up in the air as much as you can and earn as much money as you can. Don't use rockets unless you can see a platform to aim for. Hopefully you have a level 3 radar and can aim for the yellow and pink platforms otherwise you have to make do. With enough upgrade from day 1 you can stay in the air a super long time so upgrade everything and remember to ditch comrade at the equator. Reserve E-rockets for situations like if you see yellow and pink plats well above you but nothing great around you. If you save the e-rockets well enough you can win

Played this on a rather old computer using FireFox. The game works without any issues, and the "easy" badge is just that - easy.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I beat on day 26. Seems the trick is to fire the catapult downwards, near the pause button. Otherwise you will not get enough height and will get zero money for a long time. Once you can consistently get 200 money a day the game speeds up quickly.
