I accidently soft lock my game by letting a crystal right in the middle of the crystal room will finishing by the bottom earth crystal...

I talked to Shioni's three friends, but he didn't show up near the well. I might've bugged it somehow. I ended up talking to the farmer a second time after she disappeared behind the tree. She's still there. Don't know if that did it. I think I also gave the fruit to the protector after I talked to Shioni, but before I talked to his friends. Don't know if that had anything to do with it either. I loaded an earlier save, talked to Shioni, talked to his three friends one time each, and got him to appear at the well.

Not sure how the water people were able to make so many tools/weapons/cauldrons etc without fire (also, how do they cook?) but whatevs... it looks like they're screwed now that the gate is open. Those fire guys are not exactly the peaceful exchange types.
I think it's explained somewhere in the game, they use the heat-emanating Atsuguki plants to cook, brew tea/potions, and heat houses. They're the red flowers, the name means "hot stalk" literally in Japanese. And I believe they eat a lot of raw food. As for tools, there must be a way to create them using magic :P... And the gate is not exactly open, they still need power crystals to activate it each time they want to go through.

Very Nice game as always, it's unlucky your game was published at the same time as a Medieval Cop episode, because it will be a tough contender for this month best game!
Thanks :) Medieval Cop has such a huge fanbase that it basically always ends up in the first place no matter what :D I wish I could do all this marketing stuff with Patreon etc., but it's not in my skillset.
Danu doesn't have the wand anymore, it's only in Maoti's inventory now. Only it took 2 days until the fixed version of the game got through Kong's cache. Sorry about that. I hope you have a save file somewhere before leaving the Children's Home.
Chapter 2 starts a few weeks after the end of chapter 1. Also, it would make the new challenges in chapter 2 weak if you had a stash of herbs carried over ;)

I think you should fix the speech then Maoti first time has a dream about the desert. Kinda weird to read then you don't know when to pause
It's like that on purpose to illustrate the dream state and sense of confusion (he's in a land totally strange to him). You don't normally think clearly and straight in dreams :)

long loading times for char portraits, and i cant skip thru the conversation. Crashed after failing to load a sound file ;/
Hi, I assume you mean the 3rd wooden door. It follows the same pattern as the other doors - Bottom row: right circle, middle circle. Then the solitary left circle, then the middle circle in the top row. -> Now you can flip the lever to open the 3rd door.

We can still use the return wand in the crystal room after praying as Danu, which basically puts the game in a broken state.
I know, I fixed it two days ago, I uploaded the new version several times, it's fixed in the preview, but when I publish it, it just reverts to the old version. Something's seriously wrong with Kong's cache. EDIT: it's fixed now, the Return Wand is removed for the Danu part.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There is one part that seems to be an event that happens before it's supposed to when you're gathering the purple flower as Maoti. If you try to climb the upper hill, there'll be a conversation with a woman you haven't met about seeing a man in black?
Same problem as the above comment. Fixed 2 days ago, but Kong doesn't let me update the game. I hope they resolve their cache problems soon. EDIT: This is fixed now and the conversation only appears once it's relevant.

Not my cup of Tea, way too many false ends and paths built in making it ridiculously hard from the start. Unless you read most of the comments you don't get to know about return wands and such but I didn't get that far ran out of mizumi (sp) flowers and could not seem to progress under any circumstance; speaking with your mentor is quite useless, keeps telling me to read the pillars. not get any clues as I only found 1 pillar to read.
It's not ridiculously hard, I can see that about 1500 people already completed the game without any help. Regarding the Mizunami herbs, you just need to keep your eyes open, there's more of them in the game than you need. As for the pillars, there's one for each puzzle (i.e. in the section where you're trying to reach the goddess statue).
Hey, it's part of the puzzles. Just use the Return Wand, sleep in the house, and try again differently, the yellow flowers regrow every day. You can do it :)
Lol. Maoti's society is kinda commie, but there all the other cultures in the world of Nebezem are not - one is a monarchy, one is a democracy, one is a bunch of feudal clans.

I have 5 Atsuguki, but I can't finish the quest because apparently I need to finish the forester's quest first. Shouldn't I be able to skip that because I found 5 already?

Wow, it´s cool that I already know most of the places from other games. Now they make sense!
And I´m impressed how huuge this game is!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
By the way, please don't feel offended by my comments, they aren't meant as insults or anything and I apologize if I ended up offending you with them. Again, I love your games, but I don't think I'll be buying any of your games again :\
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
If you want to make money, don't make paid games free, you'll just lose people who would pay for other games. If this game weren't free, I would buy the sequel because I enjoy those games, but now I don't feel the need to since in just a bit you'll post the same game with more content for free. I get that you need to pay rent but making a paid game free doesn't help, dude :\ I do love the ToN games, but I feel cheated when I see a game I paid for being distributed for free with more content by the developer :\
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why does the free version have more content than the one that costs money? I splurged on the game because I trusted you, and you let me and all the other economics textbook strawmen down. Shame on you.
This game has an extra scene, which I added to soothe people like you, I guess it was a mistake, and I shouldn't have put the extra work in it. By "splurging", you gave me support, and I was able to make several episodes which you can play for free here on Kong. I apologize if you're offended, but I do have to pay rent and eat, and I could do it much more easily if I had a regular job instead of making indie games that you and others can enjoy.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I get that, but what's the incentive to buy it if you're just going to post it here on Kongregate a while later for free? :P
If you need incentive, then don't buy it. You can wait for 2 years, maybe I'll release it for free then, but probably not, because it's too long for a webgame and it can't be divided into parts, because it's an RPG, not just an adventure game. Or maybe the incentive is to support someone who makes games you like, since he barely makes enough money to pay rent.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
No offense, but seeing a game I paid for being released for free here by the developer makes me not want to buy the sequel :\
Hi, this game was released on Steam over a year ago. Everyone who bought it, supported me in my work, so I could release a lot of free games here on Kong, and I appreciate it very much.
Yup, the return wand saves many a lost soul :) But I'll look at the respawn, it shouldn't be behind the monster. And I take it you've solved the powerlines puzzle :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hmmm, looks like I'm stuck. During the yumebana quest, I saw the second flower to the top left and decided to go for it to save myself time later. Naturally, I got killed by the monster. Oh well. The problem is that I spawn BEHIND the monster. When I move, I get a message from the goddess, then the monster kills me again. Autosave brings me back to behind the monster, and I didn't make any other saves. Too bad. This was a fun game.

Some questions about the powerlines planting puzzle. 1) Does diagonal count as adjacent? 2) Is there no way to "test" if a position works for a plant, like to determine which is the bad powerline(s) for Enbana and Sensuki?
Talk to the farmer woman (Gitsue) south of the town. She knows where it is. After that you'll need to check out the book at the herbalist workshop and find a suitable recipe.

I wish it would display how much mana you have. It's annoying to try to cast a spell on an enemy only to find out you're out of mana, and wind up getting hit by their attack.
Yeah, that would be nice, but it's pretty hard to implement in RPGMaker. Check your mana occasionally by opening the menu (right-click or press X or ESC).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I can't find the 4th Sensuki flower. I know I found 2 maybe 3 in the hills but no one in town will help with that herb

Fixed it! Seems the trouble came because after talking to the girl on the bench I walked around and spoke to her again before she managed to walk away. The game didn't realize she was gone, so it didn't trigger Shioni's appearance. Thankfully I had a backup save and didn't need to start over!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I need some help finding the second Aoku plant. I've already picked the one across the river south of Tiali's house, but I can't find the other one for the life of me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Something weird happened, I was on the yumebana herb mission, and I tried to climb a wall near the forest of brotherhood. Some lady I've never seen was talking to me, and my character was talking about a man in black that I couldn't see on screen anywhere. I think I just explored too much and was kind of off target for where I supposed to be in that area, because I found what I was looking for and was able to continue normally. Great work! Love your games!
Oh, okay, that was a little bit of a spoil of what's coming :D Thanks for letting me know, I'll adjust it. But as you have figured out already, the herb was on a different hill. :)

I feel stuck. I spoke to Fire Boy's buddies. Two were excited, one wasn't. Now I cannot advance the story. The guy isn't by the well like he said, and if I cannot find him, I cannot get back to the main quest.

I've just teleported from the girl's dream, and something is definitely wrong. I look like the girl and speak like Maoti.

@ThomKer This is based more on light mixing than paint mixing. Red, Blue, and Green are light's primary colors and mix differently than you may expect.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like the game and I enjoyed gnomish plot a lot too.
I don't understand the reasoning behind the colour combinations of the gems in the cave with the god (whose name I forgot).
Red and blue make purple sure sure. But red and green certainly don't mix into yellow. And neither do blue and green produce light blue, they mix to darker green.
There are two kinds of color mixing - the one you speak about, and then there's light mixing (RGB), which is what your monitor does, among others. In this system, the primary colors are red, green and blue, and e.g. mixing red and green makes yellow (exactly like your monitor makes yellow). You can look it up on google ;)
Exactly. Maoti can be seen in Gnomish Plot as a baby. This game also features Danu from Golden Scepter, Tyyni from Mind Trial, and Corvus from Four Fates.

Thanks for the game. But I hope the game can be fully loaded before it start if possible, rather than become freeze once for a while.

nice, but i disabled sound and so far the intro still had sound for a few seconds and now when i woke up a loud sound played too.

you need 5 atsuguki plants at some point, i think you can find at least 6, but if one is not from the farmer the quest will not be completed even if u got 5 plants
Yes, you need 5, but there are 6 to be found. If you have talked to the forester, you will need to finish his "side quest". If you don't talk to the forester at all, you can just turn in the other 5 atsuguki flowers.

This is Part 1 of the game, it contains Chapters 1 to 3. Part 2 will be published in March.
For those that already played the game on Steam, there's a little extra content at the end of Chapter 1.
