I usually work with RPG Maker too. I know how hard is to program, design,etc... I never finished any job because I do this just as a hobby and I have no time to spend at all as I have no plans to gain money with it . But I have to say you done a very good job. The puzzles are cool, the design, grats!

What a horrible society. Just the beginning makes me question how really are the bad guys... but depicting this does not make this a bad game, not at all.
It's a very peaceful and orderly (if a bit too orderly) society. It can be tempting to judge when a society has different customs than we do. And there are no bad guys in this game ;)

I love this game, and if that means playing with the ore cart that refuses to go to the end until I die of starvation, so be it!!!

This is definitely one of the better RPGM games. The puzzles aren't that hard, but it's still easy to get stuck on a particular step if you miss one detail. However, that makes it so you have to actually consider what you're doing so you can find clues to what to do next. And that was well done, since there are almost always some kind of clue as to what you need to do next if it's not immediately obvious. You also can't really fail, so you can just try everything that comes to mind.

Awesome job, Beranek. I am not big enough a fan of puzzle games to play the full game (they are one of the few things that makes me impatient; at a certain point I just want to get to the end), but I find the story you have woven to combine your main game and this flash game incredibly well executed. A little prologue plot to portray the infancy of what grows up to be a big story; very much has the same vibe to it as the relation between Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
Hi, thanks. Judging by your previous comment, you got quite far in the game, even if you're not a fan of puzzle games. And like you said yourself, if you get impatient with finding the solution, you can always use the Helpstone, there are plenty of tokens available.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@SataiDelenn, you realise you can use the Helpstone in your inventory to help you out when you can't figure out a stage of a puzzle, right? You need to make use of the lightbugs from the garden to the east, where the Diamond is. To catch them, use the bottles found in that same area, but make sure they are suitable to contain such magical things, first.

OK, I give up for now. I just can't get anything to work on those plants blocking the way to other ares, nor can I get the metal door open. Oh well.
Some dictionaries also list "transmutate" as a valid word. "Transmute" might be better, but I'd have to change it separately in every single instance where it's used, and that would take too long, considering "transmutate" is not outright wrong. Also, the gnomes are quirky, they can transmutate, transmogrify, or even transgobblegoonize, if they choose to do so. :)

OK, I'm totally stuck in the cave with the gnomes. I lit the black orb and everything went gray, but I can't open the door, nor make the two plant things disappear, so I'm stuck. :(

Interesting puzzles, kept me occupied for a while. Luckily I didn't seem to have the bugs some other people have had. Thanks for the game :D
I'm glad you liked it. The bugs bug a small minority of people, but of course they're more compelled to comment, which is fair. I make a distinction between bugs and glitches - bugs are errors in the code which I can fix - and it's been very helpful when people reported them - there have only been several and I've fixed them. Glitches are what happens when the game engine sometimes randomly "decides" to do something weird. I'm pushing the engine hard with some of the puzzle mechanics, which it's not built for. And it also behaves slightly differently in different browsers. So, sometimes random glitches occur, which I can do nothing about. But you know... I play large commercial games, too - like Dragon Age or the Witcher, and I have encountered lots of bugs and glitches in those, as well.

I'm stuck in area 2 with that irritating goblin that keeps flipping the switch back so I can't cross the bridge. I can't find anything to secure the lever with. I've only got a hammer and nails and they do not work for that.

I can't move the bowl at the end of the tertis level one. The blue one can't move the bowl. I tried to change the type of wand but it still didn't work.
You don't want to move the bowl, but blow the water from it onto the fire. So stand with Qwert (the yellow one) behind the bowl, facing the fire, and use the wand.

@Blacksirius the instructions are not incomplete, they just tell you how to grow the tree. You want to grow it then burn it.

Small correction: The description reads "In this story, a lumberjack must carry his newborn son..." but the baby is supposed to be 3 months old at the time.

Although the game has bugs in it (somehow I got one of the barriers in the tetris room to vanish but that didn't prevent me from completing the game) I love the game!
Well yeah, because the gnomes said at the beginning that they need to GROW that special tree and BURN it to get past the door. The instructions on the scroll are simply just for the growing part. Think of the scroll as notes of a gardener, it would be silly if a manual on growing a tree mentioned burning it...

I kinda liked the game a bit. Also I did encounter a rash glitch where I was able to plant the frabjulous seed before the flowers. I also found a glitch where I left the tetris room with the firebender on the green switch, and the visuals didn't appeal when I return. The visuals fix itself when I leave this room again without her touching the green switch.
Well you have to transmute the vortex, freeze the geyser, and set fire to the brazier, all at the same time, to open the gate. If that's what you're talking about.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Damn, that was pretty hard but mostly in a good way. I think I had the most trouble trying to find the colour items, but once I realised I could mix them it was simple enough. Although embarassingly I kept trying to use the wind on the fire instead of the geyser and looking for places to dig there too... :(
Glad you had fun. Air mostly just feeds fire, while water kills it. It's another fine example of the gnomes' cooperation - one creates water so that another one can use it to extinguish the flames.

I spent so much time wandering about the cave before realising there's a lightswitch on the left of the entrance that shows you what's moving with the levers ;-;
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm probably missing something, but are you supposed to get to to the emerald in the cave just by flicking switches? Because the last two bridges seem unreachable...
Yes, just the switches. There is a little trick though - the last two bridges are normally accessible, but one of the switches makes walls appear that bar the way. The walls appear in unlit areas, so it's not immediately obvious. Experiment with the switches some more ;)

I'm stuck in area two now, I walked up northwest to check out a tree, and now some goblin or something created a magic barrier and trapped me, guess its game over and I have to restart.
No no, it's all part of the story - see, the gnomes are trying to slow you down. There's something in the dry tree and you still have something in your inventory to reach it. Then you can deal with the magic barrier.

I found out that you have to use a key to open a door to be able to light the lantern. I can't believe I spent 5-10 minutes to finally stumble upon the idea of using a key to open a door. I grasped the paper + stick concept right away. Yet, noooooo I couldn't figure out that a key could open a door.

Found a bug. After turning the color orb white, I removed one of the glowflies. The whole room went grey and now I only have a bottle of red glowflies and two empty vials. The yellow and blue glowflies are gone and I can't turn the room white any more.
Hi, weird engine glitch, this can't happen because of the code. If you can go to the spot where you found the yellow and blue lightbugs and use the empty vials there, you should get them back though.
First area? Find oars, key, and stick. Use oars on boat. Find paper. Use paper on the door of the abandoned house, then use the stick on the door. The rest should be easy.

I'm stuck at the part where the gnomes say "we are missing an item" after the tetris puzzle, in reference to the pot spouting water next to a flame. I've been all over the cave multiple times and can't see an item or a way to progress. I'm wondering whether an item isn't appearing...

I love your games. I actually bought Elemental Links but found out I don't have a 32 bit computer at home. I returned it. Someday if I get a new computer at home I'll try again. I was really bummed. I play the Kongregate games at work breaks, but I can't download a game.
5 stars!
Hi, thank you. I'm not sure why not having a 32-bit computer is a problem. The game runs on both 32- and 64-bit Windows, 64-bit Linux, and 64-bit Mac OS. Unless you meant you only have a 16-bit computer like Amiga :)

AND....I just found the crystals. RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF ME. OMG. I am dumb. Thank you for walking me through that. I feel stupid. Haha.

I really like the prequel games you've made! Would you consider putting Elemental Link on a site like itch.io or Gog (a site which isn't Steam)?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i had a weird bug where i added all 3 lighbugs to the ambience orb, but still had the red vial in my inventory, adding it destroyed the yellow and blue bugs, leaving me with "three vials" as well as a single vial. going back to where the bugs were and using the vials added them back to my inventory, despite the bugs not being visible
Hi, you mean when you brought the three seeds to Xůz and she gave you one for them? Go to the western area with the diamond, plant the seed and grow it into a tree. There's a scroll with instructions on how to do that.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I thought you wouldn't do any more prequels to Elemental Link after the game was launched. Glad to see I was wrong :) Loved the game, specially the attention you put in details such as having each gnome speak in a particular way, making them unique. And the puzzles, of course! Challenging but logical.

Game was lagging in the caves, so I turned off Lightning Effects. Later when I got to play gnomes, game started to lag a lot and crushed.Pity :-(

Do you get anything for finding all 25 frabjous stones, and is there a way to go back and find the rest? I found 23 :(
You get a top place in the leaderboards, and a sense of completion, if that's something you're after :) You can't go back to the areas where you play as Kioshi. The gnomes can move freely in their areas.
