got to level 50. 1 rocket launcher first, then add 3 apple trees, add another rocket and a gatling. i then eventually added a bunch of fireball launchers, 2 blizzards, 2 meteor things (tiny radius), and about 4 level 3 repair towers thru it. surrounded with base guns for fodder. level 50 was nigh impossible though, i lasted a while but the worms had way too much hp.

good strategy about building trees, put them as far to the right as possible, so if someone grabs the apple you got more time to take care of em

Even more strategies:
Also, its essential to keep in mind that different turrets are useful at different times. Fire turrets are better at high levels, where worms live longer. Gatling guns and rocket towers work well at the start when you have few towers and limited strategic options, but later on, other turrets work better. Just going for one kind of turret isn't going to work: freeze towers etc. are no good at the start, you need other guns first to benefit from the freezers. It helps to line guns up with the trees, so worms run straight through the guns with the apples. There are 3 strategies for dealing with towers being destroyed: 1) kill the worms quicker, which involves using a better combination of turrets for the level you're at. 2) use cannon fodder, weak turrets like handgun circling your better turrets. 3) lots of upgraded repair towers. The game requires an evolving strategy that changes as the game progresses.

More strategies: blizzard and the freeze towers slow the enemies down, giving you more time to kill the enemies using your other guns. They do nothing on their own. The flame thrower (from the fire catapult) can easily kill worms when placed in line with your apple trees and backed up by something that freezes, but you need to be able to survive to get to that point and as you've found rockets and some of the other turrets are good for that. The fireball towers do shoot randomly, but can be quite effective once you have lots of them, and they are relatively cheap to build. Also, damage depends on more than just the number - some guns have explosive damage and hurt multiple worms. Others like fire travel through worms and hit them multiple times.

SelfStudy: I did, they're equally destructable by things that KILL IT IN ONE HIT. Or did you miss the fact that all of them were DESTROYED FIRST?!?
To quote myself:
*"They come up and rape my repair towers"*
BTW, I was told by the dev to try out some of the towers I'd missed. I still favor the gatling gun and the missile launcher over EVERY OTHER WEAPON. Shame they can't kill bosses in anything resembling "faster than they kill me." Oh wait, they do twice the damage I do and have 10 times the hit points, gee...I wonder why I lose...

good towers currently are gatling gun, Tomahawk (build on the bottom away from worms uasaly path), Froze, Poison Gas (i dont care that they have no upgrades, use them to defend your other towers), electric shock, Flamethrowers are probably the best tower in the game, its also might be worth while to build one blizzard tower and one chain lighting.
the problem is all the other towers are pretty worthless.

Quazar, you can tell which worm to target by clicking on a worm. This way you can make them target only worms that are stealing apples.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
kftaurus, thorn thrower and a few other turrets do not target enemies and instead fire in all directions. With thorn thrower, the worms are damaged when they walk over the thorns.

Draco18s, it seems like you've played the game quite a bit. But you may have missed some of the crucial upgrade paths and some of the most powerful turrets. Try the turrets like blizzard and flame thrower that come after these upgrade paths: Snow Launcher > Thorn Launcher and Catapult > Fire Catapult. Also towers that freeze the worms help a lot as all your other towers can do more damage.

The more I play, trying to find a valid strategy the more I hate the game.
Boss worms that do 10 damage to my structures which have all of 10 to 30 hit points? They come up and rape my repair towers, then my damage towers all while taking almost no damage themselves. Later levels with my initial strategy (gatling gun) would see worms come in and take out two towers, then three the next wave, then the remainder.
Missiles? Raped early and hard (10 hp super damage towers!). Catapults were unreliable, they couldn't hit a worm with an apple even if it was far from the edge of its range.
Sniper tower doesn't do enough damage to live up to its name.
Laser tower doesn't have a "fire here" range to live up to sniping apple-carriers.
Poison tower has no upgrades, making it worthless in the long run.

after lv 30 gets too hard i got lucky and survived until 34 my advice get semi machine gun>machine fun>gatling gun. shoots very fast and at 5 damage per bullet worth having

Hint to everyone.
Catapult > Fire Catapult > Fireball Launcher is a VERY good choice, they are capable of hitting multiple enemies and they fire quickly.

PLEASE make the towers have more health... that and maybe make the worms slower? It's kinda hard to get past level 20.

Its a decent game. I gave it a 2/5. My only problem is that the turrets are a bit weak, and its hard to tell what they speciffacly do, for instance the thorntower just shoots in circles and never really aims at anything. Also, the gladiator looking worms DESTROY my towers in matter of seconds.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fun, but I wish the guns understood the overall mission, should always target the worms stealing the apples over the worms thinking about stealing.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Not a bad game but the turrets could use higher hit points (I lost almost half of my turrets in level 20). Overall, 3/5.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
My only real complaint is how weak your turrets are. All it takes is one of those little centurion looking worms to swing two or three times and I'm down a turret; and on a boss level, forget it.
There are other minor gripes, though. It would be nice to know what towers do before buying them. Something a bit more than just the rate of fire and damage. Also, the sound effects wear out fast.
Other than that it is great. It's a neat idea with solid programming. I played it more than a few times, which is more than I can say for some games.

Flostin, great effort! The tree stuck in dying state bug was fixed 12 hours ago. Are you still causing it to happen? If so, could you please explain how you cause it, so I can get the developer to look at it again. Also, you can get to level 51 and possibly even higher without using any bugs, although I would call it a clever trick, I won't say more as I don't want to give the answer away.

16053, Got to level 50 with no hiccups, had dozens of turrets maxxed by then. Then wave 50 comes, and it spawns several Giant worms, all with a listed 1 Million HP.... So in realistic terms you cannot possibly win, UNLESS you utilize a known bug which can cause you to own a tree stuck in "Dying" state, never bearing fruit, which would prevent the Million HP wave 50 from being able to take the fruit, and after several hours of RL time, and assuming they never attack back....Then you can win, good luck:)

My best score is 7067...I used only machine guns-rapid guns and 4 trees :) If I play this game again, I will probably use some freeze towers too. Nice game anyway. 5/5

Is there any way to damage the worms of wave 50? I had a nice configuration which turned all the wave before into nice little mincemeat, but they just seemed to be invincible.

worms need to give more gold...not a good balance bw enemies and the amount of plunder received from termination. HORRIBLE.

For those finding the game hard, its designed to challenge you to think up some different strategies to try out, there are many possibilities. If you're in a hurry, try reading the new hints / tips / strategies section I added at the end of the game instructions - hopefully that will help.

MordredofFairy, thanks for the comments, you have some great ideas. But like you suggest, Apple Defender is trying to be different to the standard tower defense games, which have probably started to get boring by now. You can successfully build quite a few trees and keep them alive, the trick is their placement - try to build them far over to the right and in a straight line towards your turrets, this gives you maximum time to kill the worms once they steal the apples and forces them to walk over your turrets.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
too hard, too fast, it seems, and some towers (especially with early dead ends of upgrading) seem pointless...plus the game doesn't really encourage you to experiment.
I know thats "lame" but you should be able to block them with towers, if you can build a labyrinth for them, different towers and short/long-range towers or freeze may be useful.
plus the trees are an interesting concept, but one that doesn't work.
If i buy more apple trees, eventually the worms will just overwhelm me with 5 guys trying to carry apples off, killing the trees. So why bother? The bit of extra money isn't worth the risk. I'd suggest to keep the tree's alive and introduce another means of "death". Also, autoselling of the apples when they reach max size would be appreciated. 3/5 now, potential for a lot more.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Kinda fun concept, little buggy. I also experienced apples just disappearing when no worms were anywhere near the trees. But with some bug fixes and some additional features it could be great. Would also like a bigger area to work with for placing units.

I'm unsure where you found "start game". The game loads to the title screen without needing any interaction and you just left click on "new game" in the top right to play.
