And the reason missiles are great, is because the range and damage. You can easily kill motherships before they even get within range to send out their swarmers. And costing money to fire them means never having a big cluster of them cease firing due to energy depletion.

This game wasn't all that hard, because it doesn't take fast paced precision timing so much as a bit of strategy. If you have trouble, try checking the forums. I posted some screenshots with explanations back when I got these badges, and some people have made videos since then.

Almost got impossible badge (Four missions left).
Few hints:
If its moving missions you WON'T, ever, ever, ever, EVER win first time playing.
You need to remember when Motherships come and from WHERE they come.
Put 'bout four missile towers...
Don't upgrade lasers in moving missions, just build a lot, and even more :D.
And then recycle, and build again.

Why do you guys say it's so hard i'm not very good at online games and can't get most medium badges but this game was ez, i got hard badge np, ... and i never get missile turrets i kill swarmers with (a bunch of) pulsars

Unfortunately, I'd love to give this game a higher rating but I can't do it in good mind. The difficulty ramping is probably the farthest out of tune I've ever seen in a game that otherwise would be well polished. If this is 'normal' difficulty, I wouldn't want to even attempt hard difficulty. I've read plenty of the strategy comments on here, experimented with different setups, but ultimately this game feels like you are supposed to lose. This simply loses all of its fun after a short span of time and frustration. 1/5

advices/tricks for finishing everything on CRAZY:
1. No tower or building should be ignored, they all have their purposes and none are a "waste of minrals/energy"
2. unimporved buildings give you your entire money's worth when selling, this is a HUGE help,
you can recycle towers when you're being attacked from different directions, for levels when you need
a lot of energy for a long time you can buy lot's of energy stores (unupgraded), and when they run out of juice sell them and buy more solar stations,
3. this is a fun trick for mining levels, you can delay enemy ships with energy relays instead of actually killing them (yes build relays where enemies come from to keep them busy), it's low-cost and should allow you to spend big bucks on mining, (keep in mind, this defence kills suiciders)
4. in levels where there's something moving that needs constant defense, best way to go is lot's of unupgraded lasers where-ever the thung goes, and THELs against mother ships

Energy Stores are vital if you want your THEL to maintain fire during a prolonged battle - Energy Stores are more than just a battery for energy. After completing the last two missions on hard, i'm pretty sure about this, but more Energy Stores either improve the efficiency of THELs, or get energy feedback, or generate their own energy, i don't know, but 21 maxed solar panels couldn't maintian just one THEL, whereas less than half that many with say 3 energy stores and it's a different story ;)

yes,your own ships is what this game needs.say,fighters for the anti-fighter and swarmer and such role,and gunboats armed with missles for taking out motherships. man,that would be so awsome!

For those going for the Best-10-of-2009 badge: the easiest 10 missions to do on Normal difficulty are Missions 1 through 7, Weapon 1, and Response 1 and 2.

I'm really awful at this game, but a word of advice to make level 8 on main chain easy: don't build a single gun, just rush, rush, rush to get tons of mining production.

if u put a long range weapon and a close range weapon near the drills u shouldn't have any problems but upgrade the weapons quickly tho

Nice game, gave it 5/5 because it kept me coming back. Just completed the hard badge which, once I'd figured out the strategy, was ok. Could do with a bit more depth / variety and the playing window needs to be much bigger.

I finished the main 8 missions without too much trouble. But now I cant finish ANY of the side missions for the life of me. By far the hardest badge on any of the Kong quests imo.

This is the only game i have favorited, please update with or make new version with an endless mode. Just drifting through space collecting different minerals! Actually making a large and expansive playing area with rarer minerals deeper into dangerous space, and having different upgrades that require the different minerals.... Sooo epic.. I hope you use these ideas some how!

Hey there my mining buddies! the last mining stage is easy. only build mining stuff, upgrade, then using the stream of "m" build cheap lasers outwards as far as you can get constantly surrounding your base. then you win in 30sec.

How in the world did this make it into the top ten of ANYTHING, much less an entire year? I may not agree with all the games chosen for said medal, but this is the only one I genuinely reject. This does not belong in such a list by any means.

One very important strategy tips: In the mining missions, the waves come not at set intervals, but based on how much you have mined. So mining everything very quickly is NOT a good idea, as this only means the waves will come faster, ging you less time to build defenses and repair things. You can even abuse this by switching all mining off just before the wave would arive (every 5% at mission 7 and 10% at mission 8).
Other tips: Use basic structures as much as possible since they sell for full price, allowing mobile defenses. And don't use THELs, they are way overpriced and require insane amounts of energy. Missile launchers are the bomb.

I am enjoying it. I haven't played the first much, so I don't know if it was so there, but the difficulty curve in this game is pretty steep. However, it's still a good game. The mechanics are sound and original. Nothing ridiculously complex, but a lot of strategy involved. I don't like the feel of the level select menu, it moves constantly which makes it kinda annoying to actually click what you're looking for. No complaints about the art, and I realized that I shouldn't comment on game music, since I rarely listen to it anyways :P. All in all, well done. 3.5/5

HINT:
For protection missions - build a chain-link and THEL far away from target, on the way of mothership = THEL firing closest target, so let it sort MS befor it get close to launch swarm. I had not calculate math, but one updated NRG silo would be enough for one THEL, as two 70% powerplant(cant see point in wasting same 200CP to get +30% power).
For mining missions maxout income requirable, use recicling optional. Use weaknesses - have to.
