It seems I've run into a bug. I'm on turn 99 and I have Social Class, 23k production points but it won't let me build the Palace. That kinda sucks, this is the first time I've literally had everything to build it and now the game is broken on me. Could anyone help me out with this?

the game now has some kind of bugs not in the start but when you keep playing when its cold and you get less food if you had bad luck then you´ll be dead no matter what you do and i know it because i played this game lot of time even the most difficult and won but now it is imposible or practicaly imposible

So the game is just too short. It took maybe 30 minutes from beginning to end. If the game had a "100 turn" mode that took you through ancient Greece (palace), then maybe a "1,000 turn mode" that took you through maybe the middle ages, and a "10,000 turn mode" that would take days and days of careful play, and also took you all the way through WWII or something... that would be utterly fantastic. As it is, 30 minutes and I'm done. :/

For some reason many of the techs that were supposed to increase my population, wouldn't! To help you solve the bug: It happened after I played the game to the third era and then restarted. Most probably counters are not flushed when game is restarted.

And its also possible to beat the game on hard in avoiding to leave any villagers for defense! May you really have to work on your strength / risk equation.

I kind feel sorry for the 20 or so tribe members I forced to bang their heads on the ground to get me some culture points.

In the Lategame about 3750 b.C. you lack for nothing but cultur, that makes the Game not so nice.
I'm now at 3500 b.C. and I am only limited by the number off Research Points i earn (about 3 to 4 per jear) I can fill all work with my fast growing Population, wich is only blockt by the max-population that i can only enhance by 1.5 to 2 k per year, wich is not realy much if you have 100k.
and the Events that occuour? finding new land in the Dessert is the only Thing with a true evect wich lasts longer than ~3 jears.
for that reason ther is no real Point in keeping thread low. nither is there a Point in in incrasing the income of production, becous I have brought all Buildings nor is there a Point in investing much in Population, becouse the Limits are so low.
I recomend decreasing the Speed of Research Points getting more expensive or making late desarsters more likly to kill an amout of Population that realy creates lack of Population.
but until 4k b.C. it's an realy gaet game.

One error I haven't noticed before - When you are "restoring" the food production when ice age ends, you only add +20% - however, -20% and then +20% results in -4%. You'd have to add +25% instead.

One thing that could improve the Deity difficulty would be to remove ice age. It is already a permanent "ioe age" as the production is 20% lower, and if ice age comes, you may as well go for the restart button.

Just beat this game on Deity. 5 Stars! Took me 3 years! (On off of playing) That you so much for creating this game. It was a blast figuring it out!!!

I wonder. Is it any max of upgrades like piety? I've tried to reach it after building palace, but at 10th it was still upgradeable.

Updated strategy (got 8149 without trying): Settlement priority: Food > Production > Military (aka put 100% to work! I was trying to die to barbarians and did my best yet :P). Tech priority: Population > Food > Palace route (For food, do HUNTING as the last option COMBINES with the leftmost route for a whopping 400 people +5 food each option). Save any extra techs if you get them before you can use them (happens a lot to me before last age). Building priority: I do the first 3 and then wait for the Palace. At turn 60 (last age), my food production shifts into high gear (see above note), putting me at well over 500 people by turn 70. At that point, I dumped all I had into production (as I had all of my food workers full) and created the palace turn 80 ;).

DJCherry (and anyone else struggling): The core strategy I use is to focus entirely on population and food first (make sure you can always grow first, and then add to food production). Keep the defenses around 10% (the 6% is such an arbitrary cutoff... you can minimize losses 70% of the time, so the extra production is worth it). Save tech choices if you run out of food/pop options for your era. Around turn 60-70, when you have over 500 population, then go hard into actual production and get that palace made. I only research the route to palace + left stone route (population boons) + hunting route (hunting is the best return for food/tech). The only buildings are the first 3 and the palace. None others have a good enough return on investment. Good luck!

My only issue with this game is the fact that, no matter what approach I made, I cannot build the Palace before Turn 100. It's just not possible, and I'm playing on the Easy setting. The game needs far more balancing than this.
