I like to put both of my squares together in the middle in infidelity mode so that if we go down, at least we go down together.

In regards to the "getting too close", don't you only die when you actually have a collision? That seems to be a fundamentally different event to simply getting closer, and the same thing applies to actual love: Becoming very, very close to a person (romantically or otherwise) is exhilarating, but dangerous. Not because being too close inevitably means you will be hurt, which it doesn't, but because it becomes more and more likely that you will have, as it were, a "collision".

So, wait. Having four or five partners on the go at once is "love" but having split personalities that move in opposite directions is "infidelity"? I'm confused.

This game has a nice sense when you fail. You can get hints for things you may need in rela life. This game will certainly help with tips in the game as well as in real life. Its a really wonderful game to play. The encouragemeant you get to try and get all 6 possibly 7 of the squares connected. Id certainly rate it 4.5/5 Great game

The main complain i would do is that in infedility mod, when only one of your squares touches only one square, the background turn white and so does both of your squares, so it just disappears and that's really annoying. Except for that, the game is fun ^^

this game is so wonderful.
definitely one of the best games i ever played.
the thoughts you think when playing are amazing, realizing how different strategies in relationships play out.
the only thing that bugs me out is that you lose once you let someone too close.
does this mean that deciding to spend your life with one partner is considered a negative thing?
because, allthough i see the benefits of switching partners/friends i can also see the benefits of sticking with one or more persons and thereby becoming one.
so maybe you could create a new game mode for that?
one where you can merge yourself with another square once you created a certain pointage of connection?
this could then spawn two new possible partners and increase your range [because two persons can reach a bigger group of people than one if they are in unity]

the game version(not irl) infidelity is more fun if yopu have played Dwarf Fortress because in Dwarf Fortress you learn that losing is fun :)

Spectacular game. It also seemed to affect co-workers at my job. Every time my score hit 10k, several more people came by my desk to interrupt me. Damn.

@xyroclast hey idk if you're ever gonna read this buuuuuut just in case... I had the same problem a couple of times, but pausing the game (holding down the mouse button for a few secs) usually fixes it.

Hey Contrebasse, I don't know if you're taking ideas for post-game tips, but if you are... What about something like "Although it usually looks like more means merrier, it can be a lot more satisfying to have a smaller group that's closer to you."? I'm not an expert with writing multiple meaning-tips, so you can use your magic to make it sound better :P But it would be nice if you could add it to the game if you like the idea ^^
The thinking behind this sentence is interesting (especially nowadays when you see people with 500+ friends on facebook and they just barely know 10% of them :P ). However, I programmed the game to make sure that having more others around you is *always* best for your score (because even though this aspect might not reflect real life, I thought the game was just far more interesting when you try to reach out to every other you can :) ). And one of the rules I fixed myself for the tips is, to really work as tips, along with having multiple meanings, they must *also* be true pieces of advice when it comes the game itself. So because of that, I couldn't add this one, unfortunately it would be misleading :B
Still, thanks a lot for your input, it's interesting ! :D
And also it's heartwarming to see that you're still playing/thinking about the game after all those months, seeing that you were one of the first players on it :D
Thanks ! :)

Hi everyone ! The fact that more and more people are discovering the new version of the game makes me all fuzzy inside :3
In other news, if you enjoyed the game, you can vote for it as "best time waster of 2011", following this link : http://bit.ly/zrRQr4
Thanks again for your support ! :3

Does anyone find that this game doesn't work properly in Chrome (at least on Mac)? There are a few games on here where the mouse tracking is jerky instead of smooth, and it didn't used to be a problem until I upgraded to Mac 10.7

Well, LoganB24, I see it as less of 'lover' love and more all around love. Its like, how do you feel about your friends? I doubt youd say that you 'love' them in the way that youre implying, but you still do.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Its interesting that "love" involves trying to get as many as possible and avoid getting "too close"... That sounds more like lust or something. I mean, Im not saying a polygamic relationship cannot be as fulfilling, or more fulfilling, as a monogamic relationship, but love is about the commitment, isnt it?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So how do you play the game of love? Do you charge right in and be with as many as possible or are you the type that tries to stay away and hope you don't get hurt?

The speed of the squares starts and remains too low. Combined with the fact that the borders don't shrink means that the game does not increase in challenge. Addictive games are addictive for two reasons: They can reinforce you (upgrades, achievements, etc.), or they can induce a psychological state called "flow". To induce flow, the challenge needs to steadily increase to match the user's rising skill. Updates are great; it's nice to see that from a developer, but the earlier version is definitely more flow-inducing, and thus more fun.
The speed of the squares is random, and is the same as in the other version, I didn't change it. It's also true of the moving borders, I didn't change that either, but it's also a bit random, so sometimes they will shrink less than others :3
I don't know how many times you played this version, maybe you had a streak of bad-luck-slow-squares-sticky-borders :P
But then again that probably means I should make the lowest possible square speed a bit higher, and the smallest possible border movement a bit bigger, so thanks for the feedback :)

The normal level is too easy; perhaps your square should be larger or the other squares should move faster to add more difficulty. As for the Infidelity game mode, it is very enticing. At first I had trouble calculating the mirror movements and keeping an eye on both of my squares, but after some practice it became easy too.
