On another note: mourning at a grave stone gives health. This opens up a strategy where you sacrifice the first family member (yourself) to get a gravestone so whoever inherits the farm can keep mourning until 80 (or 100 with well) health is achieved :P

More game tips: When you chop a tree, you should get 5 (10 if you have the research upgrade) wood. If you get less, you're chopping the tree too early. Building more than one well will not let you get more than 100 health. An idle family member that has two tasks at equal distance apart will always go for the task on the left side. Keep that in mind when planning their actions.

Also, being able to buy new plots, and a little less outrageous prices would be nice. But again, I loved it, and I eagerly look forward to more.

Amazing little game, love the art and music, general nice atmosphere.
I wish there was an actual "Breed Animals" button that did it immediately, but that took up some vegetables. I also think buttons to see all upgrades you already have, along with how much wood buildings need, etc., would be a good addition. Sandbox mode would be great. Great game.

You should be able to move animals from one pen to another. Also, when you buy a cow when you have a pen with 2 cows and an empty pen, they should go to the empty pen, not to the half-full one.

Unpolished diamond, like others said, needs hints, and possibility to continue, the knowledge upgrade should also come earlier rather than in the end of the game. would be nice if you could expand your farm aswell, buy land, maybe locations to grow other stuff/herd different animals. maybe some random occurrences like storms (lighting striked your poor son while harvesting crops *bam*), a pack of wolves that come to eat your sheep etc. Hoping on an update but also a sequel :)

excellent start to a game. could be a little more polished to make it a complete game. maybe a goal of say 12 tomb stones and then offer the option to quit or continue. also, a simple requirements page would be very helpful. like a question mark sign or something in upper corner when clicked pops up menu stating to build mill need xx wood. i spent great time researching but not able to build any buildings because i didn't plant trees. a bummer to play for a long time then find out there's another half of the game to be discovered

Oh, also, I'm not sure if that's presented later in the game but, been able to buy more space and scrolling around would be nice.

Going to fave it for now since it looks like a promising one. Dont let me down eh? No idea how to build a well, or sent people to shool, actually all I know is to grow my family, grow trees, plant vegetables and send people to the market or for labor.

loved it, interesting mechanic, love to see a 'sandbox mode' or have random events happen (people have 'accidental babies' or famine, etc) really good job

Important note: If everyone in your family dies, the game doesn't end. Instead after a while someone will inherit the farm and the game continues. In fact, your crops/trees/animals will continue to grow and prosper even without anyone tending to them. This actually opens up a sort of live alone strategy where you just have a family of 1 at all times, which I abused to get to year 1525 XD

you get animals from the market and put them into empty pens--built in empty pastures--once you have 20 wood; other things are built from other amounts of wood; school costs gold so if you don't have enough it won't show up...

A Help Section or other sort of manual in-game would probably be the best way to improve the game. Also, I only noticed just now that you said this game was developed under a time limit, in which case, excellently done. My earlier comments assumed a game not subjected to such a time limit.

The game mechanics are excellent, with the exception that I suggest putting the Double Education buff earlier in the Enlightenment path rather than at the end. Most of the flaws of this game concern how information is presented to the player. For example, building prerequisites are not clearly explained to the player; I had a hard time figuring out how much wood I needed for a mill, well, or animal pen. It's not obvious from appearance alone what stage of growth a plant is in; this is especially bad for trees that can be harvested at multiple stages of growth, but you want to harvest in the very last stage of growth. I'm rating this 4/5 as it stands now; clean up the information presentation issues, and you've got a 5/5 here.

Well congrats, its a simple but addicting game, Wished were more complex and more to do after got everything up n running smooth. The Continue doesn't work, games frozen except for the changing of the day/night (not that i would, nothing to do). The ending isnt clear enough with a quick click I missed my stats, which I guess was also ok with out a way to compare too anyone else :(; maybe a comparison of previous players? The graveyard messed up a few times with being able to build on one (third from left if matters), also found if grave started on a ploughed land would allow you to plant. Had played enough in first few moments to want to master it, kept ya busy n thinking n was appropriately difficult to warrant replays to get to the end. Thanks n again hope a few that liked the game were equally frustrated and addicting ;) to play it through...Woulda liked a "are ya sure ya wanna deconstruct this?" ;)
Thank you very much for such a complete review - I'll try and fix most of those problems at the weekend. If you clear a building by accident, you can cancel that action as long as it hasn't been demolished yet.

5/5 but one thing that bothers me is that all of my deaths are illness-related, even when I have 100 health my family still dies from illness.

@ tivar, to build a windmill, you need to research it. going to school gives you the research points you need to do that. labor is just for earning coin, while market lets you buy and sell stuff.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
lol reached year 1525 while playing at 4x speed. even if you have 80% chance of death at age 105, that still means you have to wait for about 400 years after you finish the tech tree before you get 12 gravestones. (probably way more if you play seriously at 1x spd and make everything perfect).

Ugh, I didn't brought bread, becauseI tought they liked vegetable ( which is healthier) but no...
The result is, they all died.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Nevermind. 30 wood = windmill and 25 = animal pen. It really needs to show up as something you can do, but you just don't have the resources.

Is there some magic to building a windmill or oven? All I can do at home is research and add to the family, all I can do elsewhere is plow or plant trees. Market/school/labor doesn't seem to do anything either.
I would love someone to make a walkthough or example play video. Anyone? In the meantime, read all the gameplay tips. Roll the mouse over the house to see them.
