Saves frequently? hmm... So this morning, as you can see on the leaderboard, for instance I had my level up to 3463 after idling all weekend and using some upgrades when I got back to work... later I accidentally cut the power, and when I re-loaded the window, I'm looking at a game setup and level that I had 5 days ago, the last time I had to refresh the machine. It will take me quite awhile to get back up to my old records now.

The game saves very frequently - every time you start a new wave, and when you build, upgrade or sell a tower. It will only fail if the browser process is ended unexpectedly for some reason (like cutting the power) while half-way through saving. I can't help you then. In other news - added kills to the high scores (it was there all the time, but I marked it as 'hidden' for some reason)

Man, the way this game saves has screwed me twice. When I close the window through the shutdown process, or unexpectedly lose power to the computer, it doesn't save... But if I hit 'refresh' at the top of my browser window, it does save.
Very frustrating when the point of a idle game is to leave it running when I can't always be at the computer to make sure things get done right.

I like this game. I wonder, though, about the different types of towers. Instead of having the weaknesses/strengths system, I'd have liked to see the conventional TD towers like slow, poison, and splash. I'm also curious about the armored creeps. It seems like it takes a ton of shots before their health even starts to drop a little. I mean, by the time the towers would have wiped out an entire wave of normal creeps, they're only just killing the first of the armored wave.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I left it running for a couple of days, then upgraded one tower so much that it looped the counter to negative values, and ended up /giving/ billions of HP to enemies.

I believe the glitch is due to me updating the game with new tower prices. After the update, it was possible that some previously built towers were too expensive, so the upgrades were cheaper (in some cases, negative). I could be wrong, because I've never been able to duplicate the bug.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
out of curiosity is there actually a glitch that once you acquire "a few million damage on a single tower" that is gives you money? If so how many millions is it?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Thanks hippodarren. I realized shortly afterward that all I had to do to check was watch the refund price right before and after I bought an upgrade :P

WHAT THE CRAZINESS!
Okay, the game is currently visible in both the main window AND one of the advertisement slots. And it runs fine from both, except that in the ad slot I can't see buttons. >.<

This is the tower def that doesn't end
Yes it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started playing it;
not knowing what it was!
But they'll continue playing it forever just because...

getting a strange bug/glitch now. reloading my game (at level 54), when the first creep is killed the game sticks there and continues counting that death ad infinitum. in the time taken to type this, i'm now level 251 with a score of about 1.25 million.

You could also build a giant maze with two exits on the far (relative) opposite of the other. Then seal off 1 exit, so the creeps go to the other. If they get close to that exit, sell the exit you sealed and seal the exit where the creeps are close to.
Your score will definately go up high and have little or no leaks.

I've got a conservative count of 44, depending on how you count incomplete boxes. The range of... uh, range is about 43-48 depending on your counting method.
I got this with just a straight diagonal maze. Sure, there are moments that a unit won't be in range, but the gain in total attack time is worth it.

The most number of squares in the max area of any tower that the creeps will go is 37, as seen in this pic. The main tower being the yellow and black one. For me, it is 14K Damage and the other 2 stats maxed, but if anybody else has a setup where the creeps have to travel through more squares inside the range of one square, please share. :)

Yeah. The income rate is pretty linear, I'd just need to actually calculate it out. The HP increase, on the other hand, is not; I'd need quite a bit of data to figure it out, and it's really hard to actually select enemies to figure out their health. >.< Plus it starts rounding fairly early. But I've a question for you: About how many levels does a single upgrade allow you to advance?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ah I see. Yeah it would be interesting to compare the rates at which the creeps gain HP to how fast you can upgrade a powerful tower (that's the other downside to one or two main towers — I think the gap between being able to purchase upgrades grows faster than income does from leveling up). But in the end, it's an idle game. If you start leaking and can't afford an upgrade, just wait a couple of hours :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Yeah, I see what you're saying. It's not overly tedious to have like 6 towers though, if they're all being upgraded equally; sure, it's a little more work, but not very much. Plus, I haven't found having a maze to be that much of a problem; I fairly reliably leak 1 boss or a couple of armoured units, keeping my level nearly constant. I don't run into levels that just own my maze like you're talking about. That's another nice thing about having multiple towers: there isn't a certain threshold where you stop one-shotting and you start leaking, as your maze is designed in the first place to kill over time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@hippodarren: Yeah that's very true. I had a maze for some time in the beginning, but after a while the two really powerful towers worked well for me because 1) it's much less tedious to upgrade and keep track of, and 2) because leaks don't matter, and I was mainly going for high level — I could just come back after a few hours and click the damage upgrade a couple of times and then leave again. For idling, it's actually better to have a very small maze, because if you have a long one, lots of high level creeps are sitting in there when they start getting through, and more get through at a time, causing your level/income to fluctuate more than it would if the first wave you couldn't beat got to the exit quickly. ... I don't know if that makes sense how I said it. Haha.

@Catgofire: I'm not entirely sure that's the best method, for several reasons: First, it costs less to get 5 towers with 30 ROF than 1 tower with 150 ROF. Second, sets of 3 towers of different colors do a total of 3.5x damage to any color, rather than 3x if you had 3 white towers or 1 triple damage white tower. Third, since cost/damage is roughly a constant, it makes more sense to get a swarm of towers for crowd control than to get 1 extremely powerful tower, as the cost will be about the same for an equal amount of damage, and your towers waste less damage on overkilling targets.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I also have a weaker tower, it basically holds money and kills anything that survives a hit of the first. My maze also splits creeps in two groups and delays one so it doesn't get cluttered.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fast is why I had the second, usually weaker but sometimes faster tower. You can let bosses go for a long time before multiple creeps start getting through, so your level will still go up and you'll make more money than if you worried about the boss.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
ywah i'm building the epic tower + little maze, currently 308k dmg and 120 fire rate, some fast and bosses get past that
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@volcano99: At first I had a maze, but if you're going to let it idle, you just need one tower with about 150 Fire Rate and greater Damage than the highest level you want to get to. I actually had a little maze with two towers that I kept about equally upgraded. I'm not sure what AnWoS's maze looks like, but he's been using the flooding strategy, where you just send wave after wave without regard to leaks. It gives him a higher score but not a higher level. For the flooding strategy it would be best to just have a straight line of towers from top to bottom.

2palaeontology, right how is it possible to have such a high score in just 1 day. Before you were nr1, you were nowhere in the rankings. Also, you got that score while being below level 100? Impossible, the point rate would be way too slow.
2catgofire, ye ur legit, ive been watching your score go up, in contrast to other ppl...
