After redoing things for probably the last time I found that the range upgrade is really not worth it at all. I now have my primaries at 150 speed and 45 range. It is rather realistic to get to level 100 before you have 300 leaks if done right

Mazing is not all that important in this td. Use the minimum number of towers that lets you keep them in range of your primaries for the most amount of time. I have further incresed my level by getting rid of most of my maze and tweeking my new much smaller maze. I am using 21 blocker towers just the white ones and then one of each of the colors. Doing so seems to have incresed my level another 50 levels.

After redoing my configuration for the 20th time or so my solution is to use 3 towers to do damage. I colored towers with 60 range and 120 speed and of course as much damage as I can get. The first unit to start to get past me is the boss and the armored guys are not really pushing me at all. The healer guys seem to be harder then the armor guys. This config has pushed me from L280 to L340. If you note the cost per upgrade it is more economical to not upgrade speed or range much. Each damage upgrade increases the cost by 22% and damage by 22%. Doubling the your speed increases the cost by 105.3% and of course doubles the dps. This is less effective then damage. The key is to make it so you have a high enough speed that everything starts getting by at around the same level. Before I was easily killing everything and a lot of the Armored would pass. And range increases the cost by 82%.

Here is my set up brammie (and anyone else interested.) http://img860.imageshack.us/i/idletowerdefense1032011.jpg/ First six towers cover armored creeps and get most of the upgrades. The rest cover the bosses, and cost about 1/20 of what one "power tower" costs. So far this is the fastest and most efficient configuration I've found, making the greatest use of volume coverage (7 of the 8 surrounding spots covered.) I fully upgrade every tower's fire rate, and do zero upgrade on range.

@normathenorman
for me its not the armoured creeps that are the limit breaker, its the overall health of the creaps. My 3 coloured towers are dealing more then enough damage to damage and kill those armoured creeps. At level 33500 a armoured creep has about 560M(illion) (health were as a normal creap has about 700M health). My coloured towers do 233million damage per shot (double per second cause firerate is 120). So the armoured creep is not really the problem. more a combination of overall health and maybe the regen and boss creaps.

is it possible to make a list where you can see the cost of the towers when the levels get higher? My coloured towers do 233,3M damage with fire rate 120 and i cant see what it costs to upgrade them. I sell 2 of my white towers each time i can upgrade all of my 3 coloured towers and now i have to guess.

As a follow-up on the white VS colored towers discussion: Another reason to have colored towers exclusively is that at higher levels the 200% hit is the only way to push your levels higher...again because of the limits for hitting armored creeps. For them rather than the formula being 0.5 + 1.0 + 2.0, it's really more like 0 + 0 + 1. And ability to hit (or not hit) armored creeps is the limit breaker in my experience.

The only problem im thinking there is with this game is theres really no point in spending hours and hours gaining money and upgrades...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Armoured creeps can soak 10% of their max hit points every time they get shot. If your turret does 10 damage and the armoured creep has 100+ hitpoints, you can't hurt it at all .... it's not invincible, but you need a bigger gun.

you may think this is a stupid game, but its really awesome and smart game concept. i really like it. it brings the endless fun of tower defense games and the motivation to bring on a good strategy, and lets you abandon the frustration when creeps are leaking. and you dont have to be at the keyboard all the time. if you go away and creeps are leaking the level drops until you come back and upgrade the towers. and the main goal is not just a highscore but which level you can reach with your strategy of the towers. simple as that. no lifetime-killer, just a strategy-game, which lets you do just what you want. really awesome!!! :))) 10/5

@ErlendHL If you would look a bit closer, it's 200% for one of the colors, and 50% for another. So actually it'd be 2+1+.5=3.5 for colored towers, whereas 1+1+1=3 for white towers. 3.5 > 3, which proves his point. Don't feel bad though, we all thought that at first. Right?

It doesnt matter what you will upgrade first, damage or fire rate. I tested it.
If you first upgrade your damage to 201,8k and then your fire rate to 90 it cost you 9,5M. If you first upgrade yor fire rate to 90 and then your damage to 201,8k it will cost you the same!

notice Nelfie just made a way to get plusses by saying people who want plusses dont get plusses but if u dont ask you will get them... brilliant
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Asking for a + will never give you a + in a comment, however if you point out the fact that you will utterly hate people for pressing + they will do it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
huzzah, the reason you cant kill armored creeps is that you need a high damage tower to atleast hit them. And dont worry its a kinda afk game. You just come from time to time to upgrade your shit.

create a B(billion) and a T(trillion) for prices. Try to include quadrillion(QR or BB(billionbillion)?) and quintillion(QT, BT(billion trillion)?) :P it'll get annoying to read the prices if you ever fix the 1.9 billion glitch(which will be never).

full range sucks now. switched to regions strategy: i have 3 regions on my screen, and all the towers in that region can hit any tower that's not in the next region. it's a good strategy, not as good as the other strategies, but who cares? gained 30 levels from that
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i switched to a full-range tower strategy, and guess what? it works! sure, i went back to level 57, but all i have to do now is upgrade the first 2 rows of towers and i can get to higher levels easy! full range FTW

Score is often submitted in intervals i belive, not sure cant confirm either. Otherwise, i would actually say. Refresh the page.

A hint for people that hate the new Java/Flash updates whatever, that makes games that are inactive in background unable to play, is to enable sound. (Atleast works in this game) and mute sound from your Webbrowser, Firefox in my case through the Volume Control down in Systray. This way i can browse in other tabs while the game still play in background.

If you want to save your progress, refresh the page. Otherwise it might get lost when shutting everything down. And/or if your computer crashes. Been there done that, lost a few thousand levels. So to be on the safe side, refresh every other 500 levels.

also the highscores are quite some hours behind in my case... highscore level is 1200'ish while in game i'm nearing highest level of 1700

Before increasing range, consider this: A tower dealing 5.2 million damage per shot and firing at a rate of 2 shots per second (120) in a range of 45 (starting range) requires 253.8 million dollars to upgrade range. IF one had upgraded the range just once when the tower was bought, it would have eaten that extra 253.8 million dollars to get 5.2 million damage at 2 shots per second. That almost DOUBLES the cost to get it that many DPS. *shudders* That's scary, considering how long 253 million takes to build even at level 3,800.
