Under rating threshold (show) nice job, I like the atmosphere. I played a lot of these (since I made one myself) and this one feels difference from the others. Cons are : island too large or player movement too slow; camera position feels like the character is 50cm tall.

Under rating threshold (show) Bad or good comments are the same, with out comments we would never improve our selfs. I uploaded this not as a mega game or as look what i can do, more that how easy it was with this book to learn C# and unity and to promote this book to anyone who felt the need as i do to make games. Yes i agree that it is missing content and a story line, their is much more i could do to this tutorial, but i wanted to make my own game. Thus I have started to make my own game, but i have the urge to take on your comments and improve this Tutorial in my own way. Also i am sorry i missed your comments, maybe i forgot to tick a box to receive feed back.

Under rating threshold (show) Since my first comment was a bit negative, here some positive feedback: what makes your go at this tutorial different to most others is that you put the batteries near landmarks. The first one was close to the hut, the second one was obtained in the minigame, one in a shack one at the strange thing on the hill. They are still random because you don't give them any context, but at least they are noticeable It attracts the player's attention. That would be something you would find in that level design book.

Under rating threshold (show) Oh look! It's the basic Unity game "Survival Island", where you are stranded on a random island (plus shaped volcano, as every random island) for no apparent reason and have to make a fire to make an emergency signal. But only after getting matches from a random house that can only be opened by getting four batteries, one obtained by completing that totally random ball throwing game, three of them scattered around on the island. Never played that one before..... My advise: in addition to a book that tells you how to make a playable game, get one that explains to you how to design a meaningful level that does not scream: "I am a meaningless random tutorial!" at the player and one that tells you how to narrate a story, so that you produce a game that can be played, narrates an interesting story and takes place in an environment that takes advantage of the gamplay mechanics, goes together with the story and does send the player on logical paths, short NOT A MEANINGLESS RANDOM TUTORIAL!!!!

Under rating threshold (show) Once I got the matches, and I lit the fire, the game was over. Quite short, but as the description says, that's how it's supposed to be. Now, since you say you were learning how to work with unity by making this small game, I can see why it is so short. To Improve: Expand on the Idea. I lit the campfire. what happens next? Whats up with that skull thing? who was living here, and why do they have advanced technology? Please, don't take this as a list of nitpicks I have about this game, but ways you can improve. Now that you know How to work with the engine, come up with some creative ideas, and expand on what you have already. I hope to see stuff by you in the future, as I like unity, and seeing new developers like you is great, as i believe there need to be more adventure games made with the unity engine on Kongregate. I hope some of this helps, and don't take me too seriously. <3

Under rating threshold (show) I had trouble finding the cell behind the house requiring the cells, but that was probably my fault. The shooting mini-game was alright, but it was, really, the most interactive part of the game. It would have been better, too, with the mouse centered in the game, so i can aim without my mouse going off-screen. Entering the three huts, it seems like your head gets stuck on the tops of the doors, slowing you down until you squeeze through. The skull thing on the volcano was creepy, and weird, but kind of out of place, and was the most unique thing on the island, besides trees, houses, and rocks. I went to dive off the volcano, to try and circle back to the start to look for the cell I missed, and getting in the water, swimming was exactly like walking.

Under rating threshold (show) So, I played from start to finish, and it seems to be a good first game in unity. There are some things it lacks, though. The mouse should be centered on the screen and hidden, like most unity games, to avoid clicking off screen, and being a bit less disorienting. The movement is a bit weird, turning while moving sort of keeps momentum, then you stop, then go in the new direction. It should have swift, snappy turns, like most First person games. Your character should walk a bit faster, or there should be a sprint button, because getting lost on the volcano is quite slow-paced. I Liked how the Mission and the objectives were clearly land marked, with houses and the metal thing on the volcano.

Under rating threshold (show) Loved the game. Very creative. SPOILER ALERT: I was afraid during the whole game, lol. The first battery I got was the one up on the volcano, with the skull. After that, I was certain something would jump at me sometime. But the worse parts were opening the doors, because there was no telling what could be inside haha!
