Read the FB post, and here are my thoughts: 1) I feel like trade should have far more of an impact than it does. So do whatever it takes to make that happen. 2) Good idea. The option for adding to protection should be expensive, and moderately effective. Subtracting from protection should have both a high effectiveness and be super-expensive so it isn't abused. 3) Assassinations should have a higher success chance. 4) YES.

Alternatively, another idea could be Abortion. Starts enabled and legal, and gives a slight health boost in turn for a pop growth penalty. Making it illegal would do the opposite.
Conservatives and Socialists would want abortion illegalized (Because seeing the Cons and Socialists work together is always ironically hilarious, plus I could see a justification in how Socialists would want as much poor workers as possible so they support them. A pragmatic reason, basically). Liberals, Libertarians, and Greens would want to keep it legal (Self-explanatory for the first two, and the Greens just like killing people in Clout anyways so what's a few fetuses going to matter for them?)
The problem with a bill to ban this is that for one, it's codified in a supreme court decision. You can't really legislate those away (the ability to do so would basically defeat the purpose of the judiciary). For another, it's a very hot-button topic for many, and has inexorable ties to religion. As I've purposefully divorced the Conservative party in-game from religion, they would be unlikely to support it. That would potentially leave the socialists, but there are just as many instances of extreme population control in the other direction in highly socialized nations. So it's something I couldn't really ascribe to any party very well.

If you need an idea for a new binary, you could add the debt ceiling as an issue. It would start enacted and cap debt at X amount of level (Something in proportion to the GDP, most likely), and if its passed, the GDP will shrink. Disabling it would allow for debt to grow larger without penalty, but would occur a consistent minor GDP penalty. Conservatives would be the main party to support it, and both Liberials and Libertarians would be for repealing it. I don't really know where the Greens or the Socialists would fall under the parigram, though.
The debt cieling isn't really something that would be well-represented by a binary bill. It's increased incrementally IRL, so it would be added as a normal bill with some corresponding mechanic if it were ever to be introduced.

How about a more general "investigation" feature, something along the lines of "who keeps trying to assassinate me?" Someone's out for my blood, but a shadow war against a mystery griefer is only fun for a month or two.

in mozilla and safari for IOS you cannot scroll through your PM's whereas you can in chrome. which of these is unintentional
Between this comment and the one above it I'm not so sure what to think.... but I"ll make sure something is set explicitly to stop it. It'll be added as a pay feature later. Storing a bunch of message data isn't really free.

Seeing Frank Underwood in Clout - "meh, that was to be expected"
Seeing Frank Underwood actually being majority whip in Clout - EPIC!

Exiled to canada should be a way for higher level clout players to go (Like Moses Malone would be exiled to canada) or any other country... but canada would be the worst.

Haha, just a thought, but it'd be funny to be able to sway public opinion for/against morally questionable and corrupt actions through hiring people to write books/give speeches/seminars/run TV shows, etc. An example statement would be something like "We all have different ways of dealing with stress, and being a Congressperson is one of the most stressful jobs you could take up. What better way to alleviate it by enjoying yourself and supporting the Sex Worker Industry at the same time, which employs thousands of honest American citizens and/or temporary workers. Obviously, it'd be a gaffe when support for said issues is low, but a congressperson could even gain support when support for the issues are positive, aka when the people put their blindfolds on and look the other way and/or defend the acting individual.
This seems to encompass a lot of stuff. At a basic level I think that tracking public opinion and using it for things in one way or another is a good idea. Not necessarily something I will be implementing soon, though. I really want to get the core mechanics solid, move to V1.0 and then get The Lobby and Clout integrated more strongly before moving The Lobby into Alpha/Beta.

does a message from deep throat saying to investigate someone mean they have a big scandal on then, lots of small ones or both?

There should be some messages on The clout exaMINER ABOUT WHO IS GOING TO WIN NEXT ELECTIONS (sorry for the capitals , I forgot them ang I am bored to rewrite)
This is currently the only way it happens, but the tag is theoretically generic to mean it does not award clout to the person who introduced it upon passage.
It's short for "nopay". Specifically it means the bill for whatever reason will not award clout to the person who introduced it as usual if it is passed. In the current game state, this only occurs if the bill is split from a win bill. Splitting a win bill randomly generates a random number of bills at certain Clout levels from the win bill's party and introduces them to congress under the name of the person who introduced the win bill.

If IGG games got me away from Kongregate then I must be expecting You to make the Lobby. P.S. Nice job with the new color borders on the text boxes they really bring out your Developingness
Look in your character log. It'll tell you what happened to them. Bills that pass/fail get applied daily, and once they're applied they no longer exist.

quick question, if someone votes for speaker, and is then assassinated does their second account get to vote for speaker as well?
Either your mother or father's mother, generally speaking. (the idea is that you are getting zombie bot virus spam from your grandma's horrificially-infected computer)
I looked up the original name and it seems tied to a book series I've never read. Certainly seems like something I'd probably like, though. The name kind of reminds me of Johnny Dangerously.

Q, I was wondering, would it possible to not count research committees on bills that have passed but not EoD cleared towards the 2 RC max?

So when you become a lobbyist you lose all your money in offshore accounts? uh...you should probably include that in the game....
At Clout Tier 1, you will mostly be playing to pass bills or voting in committees and such. Those bills affect the nation at large, and also potentially other players. When you get more experienced at the game and reach Clout Tier 2+, more gameplay options (especially pvp-related ones) become available.

sigh... base election chance is 5%, gerrymandering increases that. To get more than the base election chance you need to get your csp higher than 0. Speeches and ads increase CSP. But if your csp is... lets say... -1000000 you need to get 1000000 csp from ads and speeches to be able to increase your election chance with more ads and speeches. To avoid getting those low chances simply keep your csp high and avoid having too many scandals.
This is all correct. It seems like people kind of stopped disseminating information to eachother at some point. It used to be people kept eachother relatively well-informed. Not sure what changed.

joining the socialist party and accusing opponents of being commies: pretty good. accepting a campaign contribution and accusing opponents of being corrupt: genius.

My reelection chance isn't at 5% and it still is completely unaffected by self-promo ads, playing invoke founding fathers 20 times, and congressional speeches.
You need to pay attention to your current level of constituent support when you're running ads. Both types of direct ads can do nothing if you use them wrong. This is explained in the mission descriptions. Those are important; I don't know why nobody seems to read them.

You know, it'd be cool to be able to actually be separated into the states as Representatives/Senators and be able to affect state laws/policy/support for you/president, etc. etc. etc. Also, it would be a more in-your-face way to show the effects of different policies, and to show which states have the most problems due to said policies. Just another thought that I've been meaning to get out.

Idea for assassination:
Men with machineguns pulled up to CONGRESSPERSON's house, emptying over 2000 bullets into the house, killing everyone inside.
And if the congressperson survived, it would be: Fortunately, the congressperson was out to lunch at the time.
Or: However, all of the bullets missed the congressperson, and the police assigned to his house killed the attackers.

Wait, How do we have a better relation with a cardboard cutout of kim Il-Sung then we do with Russia, Mexico and Venezuela, VENEZUELA! What did we do to anger Venezuela more then North Korea! Did we starve half our population for fun!?! However being best buds with central africa is perfectly logical.
We conquered North Korea months ago and installed a puppet dictator (quite literally in this case). Tends to improve relations. Well, with the government anyway.
