You should definitely make it possible either to reassign skill points or at least to gain some experience in lost battles, too. In case the player spent the skill points wrong, he has to start all over again.

I shouldn't have to set the position of my catapult every time I retry. The energy ball launching control system is a bit fiddly (why do I have to put my mouse over the catapult at all?) Power-ups are way too random, a lucky power-up can make an otherwise tough level very easy. The difficulty curve seems way off, some levels are much harder than the ones that follow them, and some seem to depend on luck too much (struggling with level 20 right now). The nature of the collisions and bounces mean that many levels where you need to avoid collisions or destroy everything can be lost simply because of bad luck.
There's a nice idea here, and things I want to like about this game, but it's a tough one to love....

Tank Driver: Sir! They have an anti-matter cannon that is picking us off! Let's destroy it!
General: Nonsense! Let's drive like morons across the rocky road while doing nothing!
Tank Driver: Yes sir!

Wow. It took a lot of pain and anguish but I FINALLY beat the last four levels. The difficulty curve is insane. I like this game now that I have gotten its quirks down, but wow. WOW. From the time it was botd it took me NINE DAYS to do FOUR LEVELS. Also lol is level 30 ever LOUD. Blow up one of the singularity guys and its just constant crashing. I blew 3 at once and I was like "Wow is this train of death ever going to end?" And then two more appear just as the third was going out and blew up on each other starting it again. Kublai's complaint is probably the biggest complaint about this though. That was NOT my finishing run. The second singularity apparently slingshotted something I wasn't supposed to let pass across the top of the screen. I didn't even SEE it. You would basically need to be able to build a fence of towers to keep that shiz from happening.

I like csdani's idea of keeping at least part of your experience when you lose; you could add it to a beginner or "crybaby" difficulty and keep the difficulty you have now as the original difficulty if that's how you mean for it to be played. As it is now the struggling players get further and further behind because they likely get less kills from each level which translates into less experience which translates into being even weaker both in player skills and in-game experience/levels/skill points at later waves. A way to replay previous waves would work too (even if you limited the experience to only those they didn't kill the first time). As it is now people get discouraged even if they like the concept/gameplay because they have to restart or get stuck on the same level umpteen times in a row.

I don't like this game any more. Throwing some important vehicle past you at 200mph to make you lose is cheap and I hate it. Makes what could be a great game very cheap. Probably an oversight but it is extremely frustrating.

i somehow manages do accelerate the giant tanks so fast in sandbox mode that i cant see them, and my energy balls dissapear

Too late for the BOTD, but some tips. Researched?, hard part late in the game, with absorbers and colliders. d9fan gave a great tip, maximize first gravity manipulator early; I did somewhere in wave 18, with 5 to both gravity+stability. Shockwave+Implosion needed. Above abilities essential for certain enemies. Strongly advise ONLY purple ball, only projectile I needed (1 point in projectile, low-energy, fast, damage). Towers unnecessary, but help (recommend only shockwave). KILL 95% of everything in early levels, KILL much as you can. AIM at weak explosive things, AVOID exploding things behind something. SAVE BEFORE SKILLPOINTS USED; must know what you are facing. AVOID using skillpoints until necessary. Don't forget that you can DAMAGE yourself from explosions+nukes. AVOID colliding 2 nuke-trucks, doubles explosion radius. Avoid EXPLODING things near you. AVOID singularity implosions early in game, get no exp. PERSEVERE, be lucky. Took me 3.5 hours, with 6 skillpoints left. Good luck.

Unfortunately I prefer the first opus, a few annoying things with this one:
***Having to reset base position between missions: time wasted ***Not able to reset talent points: have to restart if you failed build ***Some missions too unforgiving, you have a single life so a random explosion can send an enemy past your base etc: frustrating!

For crossfire mode, just upgrade your stability and energy to lvl 20 each. Then spend the rest on whatever and you're pretty much set. Just remember not to use a nuke too close to your base. 4/5 for the game.

Terrible game, would be decent if you could reassign skill points, but the way it is you've got yourself painted in a corner in no time. -.- Sorry, I really wanted to like it because the idea is fun, but little details like that make it too annoying to enjoy.

Every little detail about this game makes it so much harder than it ever needs to be. I hope that the creator learned something about game design over the years, because this is pretty much everything wrong about game difficulty right here, with a total lack of control over whether or not you win or lose any level and aggravating controls to make sure anything you CAN do is harder to do.

Addendum to my earlier comment - since repeating levels multiple times with no reward is par for this game, it needs to remember where you put the position of the launcher. I can't tell you the number of times I've been on a level, failed, clicked restart to automatically try again (because really, failure is GOING to happen, and you are NOT going to gain anything from it but frustration). Then, the level starts and O! so sorry. Launcher defaults to the left, and the enemies are coming from the left. There's no pause, there's no 'kill yourself to start over' button. Nope, you have to wait until you lose. Again. To get to the main menu and reposition the launcher.

Try getting gravity manipulator at max and shockwave at later levels!that way you can easily deal with most enemies without spending too much energy!

i want to like this game, but there's just too many things that are inherently wrong. you can't re-assign points, so if you get stuck, you're screwed. restarting a level is a pain in the ass since i often don't choose the right starting location (since it resets), and it's really hard to see why you lost a level sometimes or why you are going to lose a level.

making this game have the badge of the day is probably going to plummet its rating. unsure of why there's high system reqs for this, it could've been just as bad with no graphics
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There's way too much luck involved here. When everything starts exploding all at once (which is impossible to prevent on the later levels), it's far too easy for a single enemy to be launched straight past you with virtually no time to stop it. So levels that give you no spare lives can end at pretty much any time, just from a single unfortunately-placed blast.

Why does everything blow up in crossfire mode? I don't get it. It's like I got a 25 kill streak and just randomly decided to throw down a tactical nuke. I mean what the hell...

It's way too hard to click on the projectile. The area of it must be like, four pixels. I'd like to play the game but it's frustrating and my hand is cramping. 2/5

Easier for the hard badge:
1. Max out every ability and structure except Gravity Manipulator [second modification] and Acceleration Tower.
2. In Upgrades focus on Energy. I spent 20 on Energy, 3 on Stability and 1 on Projectile.
3. The most useful active skills are Gravity Manipulator and Implosion. Both have good effect and less cooldown.
4. In earlier levels try finish the levels with higher exp which will help getting more skillpoints.
5. Luck is important. Hope you can get more singlularity implosion.
