The stain and blur effects at the top of the pane are okay on menus, but they're very distracting during gameplay. They make me want to clean my screen.

@ helena M: use whirlpools on red and ceep qreen and red off you while your people just sit there and watch everything go underwater very, very fast.

the exact moment when I first used the water storm spell, I knew how to beat the rest of the game. just get your mana gain as high as you can, then build a mountain under your waypoint, send all units there, the use the wave. the wave cuts off the lowest level of land, so you usually only need to use it once, but I had to do it twice on the last level.

But honestly, the difficulty curve goes from easy to ridiculously hard straight away. I suppose it's difficult to balance it properly since intial positioning is /very/ important, but I would like it more gradual. And seriously, unless I get a vid, I'm not believing some of these levels are possible.

Most of it was fine, but Level 18 was insane. After several tried, I found myself overwhelmed or sandwiched by Green or Red. So, I tried to colonize as much as possible, but my people simply wouldn't move west, and then I got screwed. /Then/, I went around building a massive moat around myself, and trying to keep Red the hell away from me while I focused on Green. An hour later, I /finally/ won. Mountains and Swamps are by far the most useful skills, in my opinion. (Other thant terraforming, of course)

Pro Tips: raise the terrain to the highest level possible. It is way way easier to get every building on the same level. It also helps once you get the Tsumani spell you can throw it down multiple times which will totally destroy the enemy, while you remain totally fine.

A really fun game. It is REALLY REALLY LONG, but I still had fun. What the game needed more than anything was a function to raise/lower multiple tiles at once. A simple click and drag type thing.

FYI "flatten" is *not* the same as "lower." Sheesh, if you're giving people a tutorial on how to play your game at least get the directions right.

I think the island named pebble dash is my FAVORITE because of how fast the other tribes grow and then a massive battle begins ha!!!

It's a good game! The main problem, though, is that I often beat the smaller stages before I even get the mana needed to use a special ability! If you make a sequel, I recommend lowering the base cost of most special abilities, but have it rise on use and gradually return to the base cost.

cool game, and i didn't know about populous, or however the game is called, this flashgame may refer to. but i must admit i like it, but i think you might do some more lovely graphics. i have no problem with "pixel", but .... i can't recognize most of the things ... sry to say

There was another Populous flash game here like several years ago. It had a different set of graphics and was mainly just god vs god battles (no story).

I really love this game! Honestly this is my favorite game thus far on Kongregate!!! Bravo! Here are a few things which I believe would make this game even greater:
- Non-Campaign playing mode
- Ability to create your own maps, even worlds with global-wrap
- Would be a stretch, and I know it takes time and money, but multiplayer would be awesome!
- Somehow to fix the graphical illusion of not being able to tell whether you're looking at mountains or depressions (Sometimes it gets hard to tell whether the land is lower or higher in comparison to your current colonized landmass) If you agree, please rate this up to show Electrolyte that this game is amazing and is ready for great things of EPIC proportion!

AI is pretty bad. They totally bypassed the soldiers near my own base to go fight some soldiers across the map. I tried to fix that with waypoints, but unless I micromanaged it just didn't work.

Amazing game, actually found it first via rockpapershotgun note, loved it, great to see you here too, the game is simply wonderful, a few spells are so destructive, and it takes time to learn some little tidbits, like that you can drown avatars deleting the floor under them, great for later levels when the enemy seems to start with ~1000 mana already and sends you one right away.

Too much tutorial. It looked like fun. It probably is fun. But god almighty, I'm not gonna be treated like a retard. I know how to play games, so let me play the game instead of forcing a several-levels-long tutorial on me.

Superb idea, but you really need to fix the cursor. I keep shifting the wrong patch of land, and it even shifts when I'm trying to move one particular spot. That didn't happen when I was playing Populous on the SNES. Speaking of which, how about using hot keys for Terraforming? Instead of switching with the space bar try A to raise land, S to lower it. That would make it quicker and easier to use the most basic and essential power.

Brings back nice memories! Thank you!
One thing I've noticed about mana economy: it appears to charge you per click when terraforming, but imagine raising a top of a big mountain - a lot of terrain will be raised with such click. If I recall correctly Populous would charge more mana for such click (i.e. affecting more terrain).
