Some different tips for Dead Islands;
-Dread Knights(DKs) move before zombies do
-when killing a zombie in the Necromancer's territory, it only ever empowers the closest (connected?) Lair, even if there's already a DK
-each Lair can support only one DK at a time, no matter how many zombies you kill around it
-each DK is supported by a specific Lair, and, should that support end (either by villagers cutting off the connection or by that Lair being destroyed) the DK will revert to a normal zombie
-territory cut off from a Lair does not provide the Lair empowerment should you kill the zombies on it
-it appears that haunted towns connected to a Lair also empower it, by one each turn per haunted town
-while they seem scary, a Dread Knight can't and won't make a Villager any more dead than a zombie, and your own knights should be more concerned about zombies
-Rosaline cannot turn into a zombie, though if she gets stranded you can't control her until you reconnect with her

Tips for Dead Islands
1) The zombies that spread the necromancer's territory are the worst. Whehn possible, break the necro territory so you can then clean up the zombies behind it (who can no longer capture your territory).
2) Always watch whether a Dread (Zombie) Knight will be triggered. There are no surprises in this game.
3) Slow strategy: Dread Knights can be stopped by walls protected by a human Knight. Find a chokepoint and throw up a castle and park a Knight there. With the Dread Knights blocked off capture the rest of the territory behind it.
4) Fast strategy: Necromancer lairs only require two pikemen to defeat. Get enough resources to make long chains of villagers with two pikemen at the end. Using Rosaline at the ends of these chains means you can rescue her later after the rest of the chain is turned into zombies.
5) Zombies advance slowly. If there are five unguarded hexes the zombies can only take over one at a time (or one per Dread Knight).

Focus on gaining land and taking out nearby bases, only fight the zombies if you have a large numerical advantage, and use Roseline to deal with any bothersome dark knights.

Awesome game. I've beaten all (101 at this time) levels on hard. Foccaccia and a few others drove me crazy and I wouldn't say they were "fun", but I'm going back now to see how few moves I can win on every level.

Phew! I found Gloria a lot harder than it should have been. Winning strategy was to let yellow get huge (knowing I could cut off their army with two units at any time) and fight purple while I killed red and slowly advanced castles north to a favorable position. Decapitate yellow, then slowly push on purple from both chokepoints!

Original game is callled SLAY from 1995, incase anyone was wondering and I havn't seen it mentioned anywhere. But this is a great reimagining with some small changes and new mechanics. Almost feels like a very welcome expansion

Is it possible to transfer my process from Kongregate over to konkr.io main site? I only see the option to login with Google, Facebook and Email... I'm asking because Kongregate has such a small window to play in unless you go fullscreen..
Hello SandeR2,
There is an option to full-screen your game, in the bottom right corner [ ]. Just below the volume icon.
The game runs smoothly on full screen, try it :)

Shaved Foccaccia down to 7 turns (on hard). I managed to get the northeastern town bankrupt after turn 5 (closest town was razed on turn 4) and after that it was easy. Anyone done it faster?

@theisencouple: A detailed explanation requires pcitures, but you should aim to not lose even a single villager in the first three turns or you'll get overwhelmed. Turn 1: Split the middle with villagers and 2 pikemen. Turn 2: Hold the middle line with pikemen, and cut a chunk off the right side with a loop of villagers to limit their gold production. Turn 3: Let the left break straight through the middle while you isolate and divide the two right-side towns, using pikemen to encroach on the bottom-right town's walls. Turn 4: Take the bottom-right town with a knight, and leave an undefended space to let them break through the upper middle without cutting off your forces (have a pikeman secure the middle). Turn 5+: Keep the upper right town boxed in with a pikeman while you begin invading the left side. You should have enough of an advantage to handle it from there if you got through the previous 99 levels.

theisencouple: 1st turn: use Villagers to split the grey land. Use 2 spearmen to secure the villagers. Then use two more villagers to the right of the split. If grey doesn't build a troop in the first turn, you did it right. Then set the troops one field to the left. Slowly conquer the right side. Don't go for a knight until you are right next to the town.

I love how well this game runs on my phone, the full screen option feels like a normal app from the playstore. Who needs to go to bed early anyways.

Great game I'm having a lot of fun, a lot of things show that this was made with a lot of love, and it's really tough to balance a game like this, it's very impressive.
On another note, island 39 on hard seems so much more difficult than any of the previous one or is it just me ? I'm stuck on this one for a while now

It is one of the best games I have played in the last couple of months. I loved the mechanics and the concept. I wish it had local multiplayer or even an online multiplayer.

Thanks, I managed to distract Yellow long enough for Red and Lime to establish a beachhead, they they kept Yellow busy while I advanced my main base forward. After that, when I was matching Yellow in funds and territory, I focused on defence and gradual advancement, let R and L attack Y (though they still nonsensically attacked me a few times), severed Y's forces when it took out R, then quickly beelined for its base with the knights I was using to keep it at bay, and then L surrendered.

@1000thSon: I landed next to the leftmost castle for Obsidio, used a pikeman to help join it with the middle (the pikeman then helped defend the left side's connection), and linked across to the bottom right castle with villagers. After letting the bottom player break through on the right a few times, holding onto the leftmost castle also gave me a good position from which to attack and destroy the bottom player.

I landed on the spot that blocks the red player and connects to the castle. Then it's just the matter of cutting off the largest part of beige you can. Use the south-most castle as the endpoint but be prepared to lose it when beige breaks through on the next turn. Depending on your play it may use pikemen or a knight. Try to avoid going broke and connect the northeast land for income.

I just had an epic battle on a conquest level named "Mythrilston" (set as large and temperate) with zombies on unfair difficulty. I turtled behind a couple of castles in the isolated foothold I'd clawed out, nibbling my way into position while two superpowers fought over the continent. Then I backstabed the victor just after their weakened opponent fell beneath the hordes of undead produced by their massive conflict.

It's nice and all, but completely impossible to earn this BOTD in a single day. Even with tutorials because most of them are probably outdated or opponents may do some things differently for some other reason.

Some of these comments are hilarious. People can't handle a game that doesn't hand you victory for just mindlessly clicking shiny things, apparently? No wonder trashy mobile games are so popular.

One thing I like about this game, after playing for a few months, is, I enjoy not killing all the opponents, but giving them a chance to surrender first.

With no land, they suddenly cut off all my troops and I am doomed. Or suddenly despite having all the land, I have no money and all my troops leave and I am doomed. Doesn't seem worth it.

This is a well-polished game, and it's nice to see new content here after a long time. But I'm just not having fun playing this.

Players are entitled to their opinions, but you shouldn't run around insulting them because you don't like their negative take on the game.

Just got the badge. Here's some tips: 1) First focus on establishing a single, centralized source of income as fast as possible. Prioritize disconnected regions you already own. 1a) Don't be afraid to later sacrifice the aforementioned connected regions if they're too out of the way to safely defend. Ex: the bottom province in Rising Sun. 2) The only time I've seen anger play a factor is when an enemy province borders multiple others, in which case they prioritize attacking you. A "friendly" province only bordering you will be more than happy to rout your units if you leave an opening, so always ensure you are defended properly. 3) Against smaller provinces, it may be better to neutralize than capture them. Ex: Against a 6-land province defended by a single pikeman (i.e. no income), defending with 1 pikeman is much more efficient than capturing with several knights/pikemen. Later, you can replace the pikeman with a castle, stranding the province for the rest of the game.
