I think peace should be a a way to win. Say, you have 50~60%+ of land, and all surviving enemies are max relation with you, you should be able to make peace.

@jaxrim4 For the last level of dead islands you have to remember several core mechanics of undead: 1. They only make you undead when you are adjacent to them or their city and unprotected by your own city or castle. 2. Zombie knights spawn when all the torches are lit on their own castles (killing one zombie adds 1 torch to the castle it belongs to). 3. Your knight can block the Zombie knights, but most of the time it is not worth it. 4. Your city/castle walls protect you from zombies for 3 turns (adjacent, adjacent with ladder, inside)
Then the strategy that I used was to get rid of 3 zombie castles around you (1 by 1, calmly) and expand to the bottom in order to get the stable income. Then protect your city only when zombies are within walls and avoid turning on the zombie knights by killing too many zombies at once. Use the 1 hex spots as the best defense places for castles or your holy knight.

i know it is possible but at the very least for me it isn't, as I haven't completed it yet.

i love how when i try to get rid of a country thing another one comes in and when i try to get the other one i die from my first target and when i try to get them both i just die because they get like 30 people on me :))))

Maekke97: capture the mine on the top left of you making sure you do NOT cut of any of the enemy troops, that way when yellow captures his territory the big scary player can pay his troops, after that keep blocking while expanding

very understandable that you want to take it slower, a bit ironic that below that post there is a link to "but can you do it faster" as if people read it and then ask you to do taking it slow faster ;-)

I have definitely seen enemies on hard ignore easy tagets among themselves, just to focus entirely on the current biggest party (sometimes me, sometimes anothe AI enemy).

@Micro102: They will *vaguely* work together against a big threat, but it's balanced against them wanting to take opportunities wherever they can. There's never a complete peace. I agree they start to take more risks if they run out of other opportunities.

@Muffimonkey: You could consider that to be part of the "rivals surrender" option, where they've given up hope of challenging you. If it makes you feel any better, you can simply pass turns until your former ally inevitably decides it's time to attack.

It would be awesome if you could have the option to offer a peace contract instead of killing off the last remaining cities of entire circled opponents. It makes me feel bad and treacherous if i have to wipe out a bot that fought along we me through the entire game and never made a step to attack me.

This game is soooo good. I have however noticed that the AI:
1) Don't really work together to fight the main threat. They WILL murder you and each other if it gives them a few more tiles.
2) The AI can be suicidal at times. It can figure out if someone can kill it and go on the defensive, but the moment it can't expand anymore it will do things like send it's entire army out to be cut off.

My computer shutdown as I was about to win a level and I thought I had lost all progress on that level. When I came back my progress was auto-saved and I was able to continue from turn 40, that's just awesome. It's stuff like this that elevate a game to a whole other level.

There seems to be a bug: when you have played on computer 1 and then continue on computer 2 the game warns you about this and it asks if you want to reset the current save data. I confirmed this and now all levels are marked as won on hard.

Best tip. As long as you have good profits - Don't neglect building castles and stationing troops there.. vs zombies, let them build ladders and come in, then take back, but be aware not to let the deathknight take your castle.

after that its a lot of defensive play, just remember that since the enemy can only get to you and adjacent enemies starting on one side and work your way to the other is often easier

get the connection to the area with the mine and all the bandit camps quickly, once you have the mine leave 1 person on it unless there are no bandits or camps adjacent, clear that entire are use only as much around your own town to make sure you dont die or get disconnected from your money maker

@Albimonte Start off by stalling and letting the AI fight each other. You can place a knight up/right of your town to protect your town from enemy knights whilst also protecting your access to the gold mine. That knight will keep you alive for a long time. Meanwhile you can clear out all the bandits and then start fighting back.

1st level of the undead campaign(arrival) can be done in 3 turns, but does not show results of 3 in the compare to other players

Also, spending is done from the closest town you own... you can't always help where you spend from when buying something like a castle, but you can always place a footman on a territory you control from the town you want the $ to come from. This is key on a map like backstabbed, where you have 6 towns in close proximity.

Outside of the basics, one major strategic aspect of achieving the fastest time is figuring out where bandit camps will be placed and how bandit money will be distributed. Bandit camps can only go on neutral, uncolored territory. If there are no neutral territories, new bandit camps cannot form... so it may be best not to claim a spot sometimes so you can harvest the "taxes" from the bandits on the map.

Wonderful game, hoping it gets the attention it deserves. Question about the achievements: why not make 80 gold medals an impossible badge since completing 80 islands is already a hard badge? Seriously though, great game!

If you go to Conquest on the main menu and enter the name ("Hopelaw") as well as the other parameters, you get a specific map / scenario - that I liked :)

My dear sir, @embair, you got it what games are all about! Had more fun with this game than any AAA title since the Withcher 3! Each aspect of the game is amazing, 5 stars from my, oh you divine maker!

Just beat China 1937 by letting the Orange/Green fight in the West and the Red and Light Brown fight in the East. After Green (Japanese) beat Orange (Nationalists) I split Green, triggered a rebellion, and made sure never to let Green get enough for a Hero.

@EndyDune - pusz to the right relatively fast. One you connect to that forest, use one spearman to take the grey city on the left. When you do that you are safe. Utilize the forests to take towns and split territories.
