My biggest complaint is that you can't buy tea fast enough (only 30 at a time, then you have to wait a week for the deal to complete). In the final years, I was basically just clicking buy as soon as it was available to try to fill the order in time.

Oh great, all my ships are down except for one. Damn you Britain, why did I even work for you in the first place? GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY... Oh well I guess I have to hold Until I'm not wanted

Think I found a bug... If you play a few times in a row, the number of ports looking to buy reduces. I have played a game where there were no ports offering to buy at all. :( If you get this, refresh your browser and it seems to fix it.

another quick calculation : 1 week in game = 2 seconds in real time. the period 1830-1839 has 3652 days, or 521 weeks. 521 weeks in game = 1042 seconds = 17 minutes and 22 seconds (real time).

I really like this game, not just because of the gameplay itself, but also the historical accuracy regarding events and methods. 5/5

I get 93,784,800 points scored on the time I lose the game. Interesting. Enjoyed this game though, going into my favorites.

If you lose all your opium and can't afford to buy more, the game will offer you to sell one of your boats for 1,000 silver, so no, boats aren't worth 100k gold.

Guys for tea you get boats it is a really good market why? cause back then boats where like 100k gold! your silver couldnt afford one yet they give em 2 you

The problem with barely or not at all weighted random-based games is that sometimes you just don't have a chance. Period, get over it. This game seriously needs some balancing. That, or a restart button.

I think the reason I like this game (even though I suck at it) is because there is always something to do. You are never left waiting for 5 mins for your building to be finished. Opium is low, buy it up! That port looks risky, should I send a ship? That next shipment is due in 5 weeks already?! I'm never bored with this game.

my only problem is the egregious amount of time it takes to buy large amounts of tea and opium. The amount of tea I need to buy in leader years makes me often lose because I can't buy tea fast because of the delay and the tea prices going up if I buy a lot in a small amount of time. I shouldn't be able to manipulate the tea/opium market this much on my own.

Finally got the hard badge, almost two years after getting the other two. And yet, the game that got it on, I didn't even *make* the final shipment!

Final level is near impossible. Police are cracking down everywhere so I can't sell anywhere, yet customers are offering really really low prices (even in the risky areas) while opium (and tea) are selling sky high due to my excessive buying to satisfy the Brits for the previous level. So in the end, I have almost no opium left, nowhere safe to sell it to, and have only 3 minutes to buy 500+ tea with my very meager funds which make it impossible to buy either.

Only thing I noticed about this game is the fact that it is very harsh in the later game in that you buy one thing of 30 and the price jumps to like 85. Aside from that good game, this is third time I have come back to play it.

i don't know if it's a bug but when i try to get the best start possible, wich is bying my first shipments when opium cost 12 then i get no offers at all

how am i supposed to win if i have like all locations beeing risky?
either it's a luck based game or i m sooo unlucky to get all my ships impounded
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
These people can't make deals fast enough afjdasbfsef I only have time to buy like 60 crates of tea/opium before the prices goes back up to $91...

It sort of feels like it's meant to be unwinnable – if you win, there's an opium war at China's expense If you lose, there's an opium war at China's expense.

Really nice graphics, good music, and engaging gameplay. Now I feel like a wall street capitalist bastard though when my eyes light up when a great deal appears ;)

It's kind of annoying that, when your ship is impounded, you have to pay one half of your silver on hand. It'd be nice if it were a set amount based on quantity of opium so we wouldn't have to burn through our funds before risky deals or lose them to some low-level Chinese official.

k, so the point of the hard badge is to buy and sell stuff.
ignore your wealth, it doesn't give points whatsoever. just buy below 40 and sell above 60. use your bribe card for the good deals pre 1836.

Could you create more? This game was really interesting. What about the well documented crack epidemic in the United States inner city?
Or a trading game with all the powerful countries buying up the resources of the less powerful through different machinations? i.e. Banana Republic, ect.
And the CIA now control's Afghanistan's Opium production for some reason...?

Ok, i am annoyed that newflash is over the opium demand of the lower cities. how do you want me to read the price of people buying opium when you put a face and speech box over it?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Not bad! I can't say I did anything particularly special to win, since I did so on my second play. I'd say below 40 is a good deal in either commodity when buying, and selling opium for 60+ is always solid. I would always avoid the risky ports as well, as the money lost really hurts. It would be nice to have a break-time and I feel the game is missing 'something' but the basic concept is nice.
