nice game, but gets easy once you get moving. 4/5. as for tips... buy ALL THE TIME. as long as you can make profit off opium, its worth buying. so anytime its less than 55 is ideal to buy. as for tea, in the beginning you can get buy just buying it when its really cheap, and when it is; stock up a lot. there were times when i was buying tea even though i already had enough for the next order. any time its under 30 is a must, under 50 later on. eventually, for the last levels, you must be buying opium so frenetically that youre going to have to start forking 60 to maybe even 80 for tea for the last few orders.

I suppose if you find history and math exciting and fun....one would like the game...personally, I like to get away from that stuff as a focus when I'm trying to "play".....in other words BORING as ever!!

Wonderful game, however pretty short, was able to reach all achievements first time off which lasted maybe 30-60 minutes. Easy to learn.

I think, I'd like a cup of tea. But it HAS to be from china, and bought with money from opium trading. No other tea will suffice. That is all.

Fun game, beat it on the second try. You need to stockpile tea over and above what's demanded at a fairly steady rate throughout the game; buy on demand and you'll pay over the odds, and in later years won't be able to get the required quantities fast enough due to only being allowed to buy 30 crates at a time. You also need to stockpile opium when the market crashes, I had about a year when prices for buying were 80, but for selling were mostly 30-50. I lost money that year but made it through as I had decent reserves of opium, tea and silver.

wow, for about 2 years straight prices for buying were about 80 per crate, and selling only maximum for 30 per crate, used up all my savings and lost the game because of that irregularity and, how can britain drink so much tea? they must drown on it after the 6th year

Didn't win but at least I got the hard badge. Fantastic how at the end every port was risky and both tea and opium cost +90.

WOOO!!! I managed to pull it off by following what steeper said "always, always, always buy something." That worked great, I didn't fall behind once, well until the very end I came close to falling behind because my business was so succesful all the ports were "risky". Fun game, challenging enough for me to have to play three times to win.

Finally, 100m, watch out that after 650 (if you can go on) the game HALVES you opium-reserves, so don't have too much, have lots of money and tea :).

This is some hard stuff man, when you have like 300 opium but your only getting 1 crate for 40-60 silver in various places... you only have about 1200 silver and your next tea shipment is due in 20 weeks. I just couldn't make the deadline with so little opium demand... demoralizing D=

Needs a pause button, a restart button, and a button that allows you to sell your ships manually. Pretty good game though, but it really is kinda hard to win :X

I never knew there was 170 million Opium addicts in China in the end :p Well, now I know why China is a country composed by mostly poor people

Hard Badge:
Don't stop buying Opium unless 30 chests costs over 2100$ (70$/chest).
Sell opium over 50$/chest to make profit.
Keep an eye on the price of Tea.

Frustrating as hell for two reasons - 1. the game can be un-winnable -> tea is at $64, opium at @82, buyers are only wanting to pay $30-50 while the clipper waits for me to come up with the remaining 300 or 660 tea. 2. 30 crates at a time makes it hard to buy when you want 300 and you can only watch the price jump 400-500%

Game seems to climb in difficulty fast. I had a risk at every port. Opium was costing more than I could sell it for and tea had sky rocketed to 80 for over 3 years. Is this game just supposed to get so hard you just lose?

So strange, sometimes the final order is 650, sometimes it is 720. Then I am saving opium and stuff to be able to buy for the 720, but it finishes at 650 (?????)

First of all, the click-click interface system is AWESOME, but it needs to have better tooltips or explanations as to what the hell you are clicking on. If I click on the dude that says "6 chests for 99" am I buying it or selling it? Should I be looking for high prices in ports or low? Depends whether I'm buying or selling, which I currently can't tell. That's a rather crucial detail, don't you think? This game sort of reminds me of the old VB classic, Dope Wars.

This game is great. One suggestion, though: let players set their own pre-set trading numbers rather than having just 5, 15, and 30 as the defaults. From my perspective, I never needed to buy less than 30 crates. If I could have had something like 30, 100, and Max, then I would have had a better time. Still having the prices spike when large quantities are bought would be fine.

Pretty harsh when you can't buy opium because you don't have enough opium to buy more...um, what? Also a bit harsh when 6 of the ports are risky and those are the only ones that continually have more on offer. Could be a great game, too many 'have no control over' factors makes it frustrating though. 3 stars is generous, too bad there isn't a half-star option or I'd give it 2.5 :(
