Description
A game in the old-school style of the Bullfrog classic, "Populous".
Become an Aztec God.. create flat land so your followers can build large temples. Accumulate mana from their worship and use your powers to smite the unbelievers!
Beware though, the computer controls a rival God and will do everything in its power to destroy your followers...

I've done my best to include all the game-play features that made the original Populous so addictive! The major differences are in some of the spells, and you can't directly control the 'Magnet'. You can sacrifice your own population (when you have a temple) to gain mana quickly..
How to Play
Mouse or mouse and keyboard.
In-game tutorial, help and link to advance tactics.
* Click and drag to scroll, or arrows, or WASD.
* Click on grid to make flat land, or Space.
* Mouse-wheel to raise/lower land, or Shift/Ctrl or PgUp/PgDn.
* Click icons for spells, modes and to view events.
* Click controls for pause, help, world-map, sound effects, music and to quit the level.
Developer Updates
IMPORTANT NOTE: if the camera keeps moving around without you controlling it, you have pressed the โomniscienceโ spell and are watching the computer play. Click the spell again to turn it off.

I am super stoked you created a Flash version of Populous! It was a classic from when only gamers played video games! I was going to point out that you neglected to include sheep and that great campaign world map but then I remembered that it was PowerMonger. Still, superb recreation! Five Stars!

SirFievel33 - what happens is the people merge if they're in the same square with a stronger ally... the strong guy gets stronger (it stops the population exploding but keeps your strength). The longer you take to defeat the enemy, the more likely he'll get a really strong follower. Take them out by making a really strong leader and letting them maul each other! (See the tactics guide for more tips).

i like drowning people. it is a game that needs getting used to if you never played populous try easy mode first.
