@Pulsaris there are numerous. There's the potion factory which can be upgraded from a level 4 forest next to tree roots. There's the wooden city upgrade where a city is built next to 3 or 4 wood areas all lvl 3 or higher. There is a light house that can be built in extended mode which is on a spot next to a port. Also in extended mode, you can upgrade a level 4 rock to a special upgrade next to a light production facility that generates extra stone based on your tech production.

A blue water tower is not on each map. Plus after one hour of playing this game I discovered Docks level 2, Tree Roots Forest level 4 (mana and wood production), and Potion Factory. Click on mana production, and there are 2 potions – push back the darkness, or triple wood and stone production.

As hint says get a Lighthouse (water area) and a purple Tower of Light (field area) to slow the darkness as soon as possible. In order to stop the darkness, and win the game it is needed to fully upgrade magic Stone Circle or Light Research City. And because there is a higher mana production (from Magical Villages, Treetop Village, Mushroom Forests) than technology production (from Rocks, Mining Research City, Port City, Wooden City), I finished the Stone Circle in 28 minutes. I would get enough technology to finish the game in like 2 minutes later. After that I discovered new buildings named Great City of Technology and Magic + Great City of Magical Mining.

Been playing for years and still am not sure of optimal placements. Keep magic apart or close together, or even overlapping?
The only thing I do know is the one time I managed to get two megaports on the same water (no idea how) it skyrocketed my production levels.

All this time, and I still remember (and am slightly annoyed by) how the standard-game-only city park isn't included in the area journal.

I'm so mad, I had 999 magic and all the other materials to destroy the darkness and it ate my last magic creator. And there were no other magic places to upgrade. I had them all to max

@moonkid2005: Why would you want to attack anything? There are no enemies in this game. Just the darkness coming closer and closer.

the plus-signs are really hard to see when "highlight upgrades" is turned on, making the feature pretty useless. should make it a bit more visible

@Suesse: the one after mainport 1 can only be found on lakes with 6 ports and the one after poition factory 2 can not be found after you already won.

usually i reserve 5 star ratings for games that give me nostalgia, but this game deserves a 5 star rating, it feels so right somehow.

how to learn this game the first time you play it. Step 1: follow the beginning tutorial, and then just kinda... click things until you figure out what the clicking does for you. Step 2: you're finished.

Incredible game! Had me panicking at the end there, thought I would die on m closest attempt. I'm honestly too stupid for this game.

This game was brilliant, from no idea what to do, to slowly working it out, to creeping dread as the darkness drew in. Great work

Okay, that's definitely my new record. *Fifteen* assorted ports (five of them magical) on a single long S-bend river that took up most of the map's water.

for one who seeks answers. You can get more then 100000 resources, so if there is alot bigger map you can also constructs all map.

I just managed to get six treetop villages built on a single map, thanks in part to filling gaps with 0 level forests.

Very satisfying and straightforward. Games with resources tend to get annoying due to imbalances; this game has none of those issues. An easy 5/5.

Not going to lie, I came for the badges and the badges alone and was not looking forward to the game. After a couple map refreshes I got the hang of the game and was able to snag both badges and actually enjoy getting them. Thanks for this game!

Love this game so much. I loved exploring the possibilities of what you get when you click each combination. Here is a guide so you can find the buildings: https://i.reddit.com/r/StopTheDarkness/comments/g8drz1/complete_area_journal/ As for future ideas? Maybe some sort of high score keeping. Like quickest win, or most ports, or stuff like that. Also a weekly challenge map (everyone gets the same map and people all try to get the quickest win on that map, or other specific thing. Like a super high wood production etc)
