Wow, that extended mode is way harder than the normal one, I don't know if it was by sheer luck or I just made the right decisions, but I managed to beat it first try, upgrading the stone circle to level 4. Maybe I'll try the technologic ending later on extended mode.

Very nice Update!
my second try resulted in my first loose... which was really exciting and made me focus on the next run even more.
The Trick to getting the high numbers is to focus all energy on reducing darknes speed first (Tower of light and lighthouse(can be build after you build docks)) and then use both ways to push back the darkness

So Ive tried the new mode several times and I cant get past having like 300 of everything needed for level 3 circle. And thats with basically every tile on the map being level 3-4. I really dont think the new mode is at all possible.

the old gaem was too easy, but the new game is impoosible to beat. how the hell do we get 700-800 of everything in any where near the time limit??

It would be great now with the expanded mode, and the Area Journal to have the Journal list the requirments for the different buildings. Even after having built them, I'm often still confused!

Found an interesting bug. On advanced mode, I won the game with the stone circle, and while the darkness was receding, decided to buy the Lighthouse. Upon doing so, the darkness immediately stopped receding and then began approaching again from that position. Kinda like it got a second wind, heh
Hi Grand_Marquis, this is not a bug. :) In Extended Mode the darkness is stronger, and can't be stopped with just one measly Stone Circle upgrade. It will be pushed back before approaching again with its full strength. It's just a coincidence that you just built the lighthouse at that point. :P You can defeat it, but it'll take some more upgrading first!

I finished a standard game (separately with both the magic circle and the city of light), but it doesn't seem to let me select an extended game. Is there some additional condition to win for this?
Hi DouglasGrave, thanks for reporting this problem! No, there shouldn't be an additional condition! In fact, you should be able to play Extended when you win Standard just once. After you win Standard, does it say "You found both ways to win!" or "Alternatively, you can restart and find the other way to win."? If it says the latter, there's some problem with saving data to your browser storage. Please make sure you have no plugins or settings that block local storage.
If you still have problems, please PM me your results the browser you're using and I'll try to help you.
Thanks!

I rated this 5 before the update. The new features are cool! I wish the area journal explained how to get things you already unlocked.

A very good update! I really started to sweat near the end, as it was a very close call. Got worried when the circled didn't stop the darkness at first upgrade lol.
I appreciate the new buildings, they add a lot!
I see you're going to make the potion instructions more clear. I actually didn't realize that there were potions until I read the comments. I thought it was "just" a description since I couldn't find the potions.
All in all, fun game, actually got more exciting (and stressful!) with the new update. And honestly, I think you could make a fun village or city building sim if you were ever inclined

This was already in my Favorites, but this update makes it even cooler. I felt the original version had a great early and mid-game, but the end game was over too fast. Now . . . I'm thinking it feels just right :-)

Big YAY to the new update! Rocks rock, lighthouse stars, we get potions and so many new types of areas and ways to spend that extra mana. And darkness is more menacing than ever... You think you can still do with just building a meager light research city or upgrading the stone circle? Thing again! This time darkness will not be that easy to defeat. Prepare yourself for thrilling new experience of battling those evil encroaching dark tiles!
Hi Edelpunk, just click on the Mana resource in the top right after you've unlocked potions. I agree that this is not very clear right now, so I will make this a bit clearer soon. Edit: done!

Only thing I would have done differently would be 3rd tier of magic circle that would actually revert darkness. You've won as soon as you have that 100 mana and stones, but let us use that snowballing production even before actual 'victory screen' to make some game-progressing upgrades for final win

at first I thought this will be the typical game where only one upgrading sequence leads to the end (and sometimes one false decision makes you unable to finish in time), but fortunately no. and unfortunately this makes it a bit short.

This was fun. I feel like a few tweaks need to be made to make the strategy a little deeper as there is an element of just clicking around right now, but this is a good base of a fun short strat. game.

This is such a fun game and concept. I love that its quick and simple to play and understand, but very tough when going for a high score. Keep going! And Main Port, Wooden City and Docks Level 2 are all super cool!

SO I fully upgraded all tiles but two. They just keep saying "Hint: Try Building more nearby" But i have already finished building everything there is to build, even the docks on the water tiles. How do you get around this?

Love the game and can't wait for more updates. That said for the next update I suggest a bit of game balance. I did 100% upgrade and at the end my resource were Wood: 117347 Stone: 0 Mana: 9383 Tech: 24403 and that was putting primary effort towards stone. As you can see the balance is broken on stone. I loved all the different city types maybe take some of the effort off stone in some of the different types. Again love it, cheers!

Brilliant little game. A bit short and quite easy, which makes it repetitive after a few rounds. I haven't managed to lose yet. That is fine. Not everything needs to be difficult. Really like it. Look forward to an expansion of it!
5/5

Please boost the tech gathering buildings. I really wanted to unlock a different method than magic but only magic can build a Tower of Light and mana is far easier to gain than upgrading a village to lvl 4 just to harvest 2 tech a minute. Getting 30 tech to stop the darkness without installing Towers is too difficult and almost impossible
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like it but I wish there was a little more to do. Maybe after you defeat the darkness you have to continue to defend from attackers outside of your kingdom

Played it on ludum dare. The game is awesome, I would really enjoy to play a full version with a story mode or something.

I like that it is so bare bone. I like that you don´t tell us about what will happen and that I did not notice anything until I got to the tower that slow down darkness. I don´t think you need to change the tutorial.

I have finished tech win with 80 areas uncovered a couple of times, and maybe could do a little better with good enough luck.
I try to get a map with very good starting lumber, some possibility for magic, and two isolated rocks diagonal from each other in an open area near water. I aim to finish with 2 mine cities, 2 port cities, 3 cities or some small variation on that, and I plan where to put them when I'm deciding whether or not to play a particular map. I generally upgrade one of the rocks all the way, whichever will be next to more cities.
The tech production bonus applied to neighbors of mine and port cities is key. The dock bonus applies half of the attached port bonus to everything on the entire body of water the dock is in, including the port it's attached to as well as things that are already getting the full port bonus by being next to the port.

Hi. Enjoyed the game very much; simple thought hard to master is my favourite.
First, don't force us to take that forest in the beginning; I was trying to score and had to throw away good maps cus the first forest was garbage (maybe a tutorial that makes you do it once ?). It's a detail but it's annoying :p. Second, I understand that some buildings has to be there, maybe as design choice to make it harder; but it's a real pain in the a** when you're going for Tech win and a shroom just kill your cross of cities. And this makes it even harder for tech which it already is (and harder to find a decent map to give it a go). Third, keep up the good work; this game can take a few more mechanics or secret buildings (maybe a time tower that slows down darkness ?)
P.P.S : 8 hours of try .. 100+ is unreachable :/.

i tried again and it was functional. I presume the problem was on my end. Simple fun game. it was quite easy but still satisfying.

something is broken, I won and it just set all of my resources to NaN. darkness kept coming and i didnt see any victory announcement or anything.

Been playing this on and off for a week.. finally got the two ways to win accomplished! Really fun game! I agree with earlier comments - I'd like to see an overall counter for say, total wood per minute being produced. God job!
