Update to my previous comment: If you're playing on a browser that has a lot of settings involving tracking, it may be preventing the game from utilizing the save file system/resetting into different modes. That said, good luck to everyone who takes on the challenge! It requires more careful planning for sure, but getting to the end is pretty rewarding

Very cute game! The logical thinking with how to use the keys and and what to take on next was nice, the puzzles were also fun to figure out. Ran into an unfortunate bug when trying to reset to hardcore though- the button wasn't working. I refreshed the page to see if I could restart that way and it set me to the beginning with the button gone on a normal run. Replaying it a second time it still wouldn't let me restart with hardcore

I just beat the game, first try. Careful thinking -> never died, got all items, defeated all possible enemies, got "good" ending. After another hour of useless searching for the "hardcore" exit, I found out I'd have to restart the game in hardcore mode where you only get one life. Do it all again... yea right...

I just got the hardcore ending and oh boy, it wasn't easy, though I'm glad I didn't look up a walkthrough. Here are a few useful hints on how to do it:
1. Make sure you defeat the weakest remaining enemies ASAP, as you lose less HP and can get XP to later one-shot them. This is especially useful, since you can then navigate the main path risk-free.
2. When you have gathered all items in a certain area and backtracking would require you to defeat enemies you can't one-shot, you can just teleport to a checkpoint to bypass them.
3. Potions recover half your max HP, rounded up to the nearest half heart. Heart pieces increase both max HP and XP, so definitely go for them ASAP.
4. Be aware of your keys. Don't waste them on doors you don't need to open right away, like the one to the sword room or the two useless ones of floor 43. You should prioritize doors behind which there are enemies you can defeat and/or more keys. Once you've done everything else, you can go back to them.

The game really needs a function to automatically use health potion when you only have half a heart left - I just keep dying and having to restart because I get carried away killing the enemies...

Solid game. For anyone struggling with Hardcore, the code Slayer1331 gave is valid, and doesn't prevent you from getting the badge. You might have to start a new game and click the ending in settings, but it doesn't prevent getting the badge.

I ran out of golden keys and basically got stuck behind doors that had said keys I couldn't open because I didn't have any keys.

It's decent, but not particularly exciting. I understand what I have to do, but I don't execute the tasks with a smile on my face.

All the way to the end without dying, but I failed to save a gold key and got stuck. I hate it when games softlock like this.

The game was somewhat buggy with regards to health so it may take you more than one run to get it done, the 1st hard run I did I died with no hp or potions, after reloading the game and trying again I finished with 4 hearts and 6 potions

started the game and was missing one red skull. had made it all the way to lvl 46 and back down to the negative levels. played another game and came back to try to finish and it has me start over. Not sure I have the patience. Fun game though. save option would be nice.

I'm at a point where I'm on the top floor, but have no silver keys and I can't get a pickage. Everywhere i see keys are behind locked doors which need keys. Pretty stuck after being in a spot that I think is very good. Any advise about silver keys ?

I would find it useful to have hot keys for teleporting to the checkpoint targets (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4). That seems to be the one aspect of game play that forces you to use a mouse.

It was both fun and challenging to figure out how to beat Hardcore mode.
HINT: You can use the Checkpoints to avoid fighting some enemies again and save some precious health.

The sprites of objects look same as Mirage Realms lol the game is nice pretty addictive, just the ice slide part got me a bit bored

Yay! Got the boots (without cheating/help), got the final red skull, got the bad ending. XD And had a laugh at a cleverly hidden unlit torch. XD On the wave of joy upping my rating to 5/5 :) Thanks again to the dev and for all helpful comments. ^__^ More fun ahead!

@Roseorb That's the thing, I can't figure out how to get there, and from the video I saw I understood that the switches need to be turned in proper order. I did get to the stairs in the corner, between the boxes but that didn't help me. XD But maybe I'm wrong and missed something, can't remember now, will try again on the next run. :) Thanks for your comment.

Ran out of healing potions on floor 44 during hardcore attemt. I even figured out I could dodge return damage few times already defeated enemies block the path by abusing check points but I am still screwed.

There are 3 areas with 4 unlit torches scattered over each. Find them and touch them all to get the sword, though chances are that by then you wont really need its passive help.

careful when using the keys or yu might end up in a dead end with plenty of locked doors n no keys 2 unlock em with :)
