Level 88. Beat the last level. Some advice that helped me beat the game...
1. Don't underestimate gem-bombing spawn buildings. There's one (don't know the level #) where you can only make poison and slow gems, that level it is 100% necessary to blow up the spawn building near your hut.
2. For the last level, make sure you increase you mana pool as soon as possible (aka as soon as it's safe) to get a 1.7x multiplier. I tried it a few times with a 1.3-1.5 range and it didn't work. Oh, and when you're gem-bombing with your level 7's, aim for the center, not the blocks around it.
3. I suggest putting points into the dual-gem boost. With this and the combo of mana-steal and chain hit, you're on your way to pwning.
4. Play new levels as far as you can then go back and play the 3x experience ones to level up.
5. If you have two 6 gems and you're about to kill the last few guys, combine it so you get a bonus for having a 7 gem.

finally got it to play again after java update. that's annoying because it played the other day which means either java screwed something or gemcraft was changed during release, which may be annoying.
anyway, now I have a problem with the mana bonuses. I get 2,000 mana and yet no bonus at end of level. ok, so I try 3,000 mana and then I get the bonus for 2,000 mana. ugh. not a huge deal, but annoying and this wasn't a problem the other day.

This is a strategy game, if you don't think your good at it, try a different technique. Spam a whole bunch of poison traps, make dual gems(they get power bonuses) try new things and maybe you'll find a stratagem that works the best for you.

Fastest way to get xp from endurance: send a bunch of waves and die. Don't build any towers, traps or drop bombs. You'll get like ~300 xp for doing nothing!

@Blaizing each level is different and has a 'best' place to put the towers which makes it much easier to beat. Figuring that out and knowing which skills are the most important to invest in make the game beatable. if you have any specific problems with a level, i can help ya out

I think ALOT of this game is replaying levels when you unlock a new mode, and knowing where to put those upgrade points, bc ever level is diff on where you spend them. Atleast to me and I find this game sorta hard bc I have to replay some levels more than once. All else fails I just find a youtube video to where someone beat it.

I noticed something.
The majority of people are good at this game and get to high levels. And a minority (including me) find this game and are terrible at it. Ahh, are we doing something wrong?

Interestingg jo. I personally like to also do a few points in poison. the reason is with poison, i can drop 2 gem bombs in the first 5 waves or so. the extra 10 monsters per wave racks up mana fast. Then with all those orange behind it, it begins to eat up.
Also, i figured out that upgrading lime beyond like 5 is useless. Having it at 7, my lvl 3 gem has the max bounce chance, 40%.
Poison is useless later on, but it is helpful for first 15 waves

.... Obviously the strategy here is different than the first game. I finished that one no problem, but I can't get past any of the second levels here. Not enough money, not enough time. It seems like is should be fun, but as it stands, it's not.

Yay, glorious victory!! Sort of....Hue can be pretty much ignored. It basically punishes you for making too many of the same gem... things of the same or opposite(I forget) hue are much more resistant!-----------Higher level hints: Get to level 7 in Blue gem and Orange. Get some traplayer discount. For the longer levels, make 3 traps... place 1 blue in front to slow, then your 2 free orange gems to suck mana. They fire a LOT faster as a trap rahter than a tower, and also suck more mana. This really can help power your way ahead. I won the game's final level with a corridor of about 8 orange gem traps to pump my mana massively.

level 137 Spudder, ... wow i'm only level 80. been playing on and off for about a week i think. taking a lot longer than i thought it would to finish this game. i imagine i'm not even all that close either. only played about 60 levels on normal plus some other versions of the same levels. I heard there is like 78 levels or something?

Steve, that's not a glitch. The only ones that grant triple XP are the ones highlighted in the level screen. They're also brightened on the world map.

SPUDDER: you can copy-paste the saved game data from armor games into kongregate - that's what most people have done.

Level 179, and on the highscore list, game completed almost 100%... I hope to god when the achievements come I just have to re-do one battle.

HUE -- the tint, shade, or color of an object; in Gemcraft, the closer a gem's hue is to that of a monster, the less damage it deals. Hue ranges from 0 to 359.

Game is far too hard at the start. I understand challenge, but have it grow AS THE GAME PROGRESSES. I gave this game a 5/5 at the start cause it was looking to be the same as the first: challenging, but not overly hard. After trying to beat one of two levels for over two hours with various strats, I have to drop it to 3/5 cause there's something amiss here.
If you're gonna make a game challenging, that's fine, but don't make it within the first 10 levels where it's near impossible unless you're lucky or something.

Trasp: i assume by hue he means how each monster group that gets released has a particular hue. From playing the original i think maybe different color gems do different ammounts of damage but i'm not really sure

I have tried to play this game on armor games then back to this site and doesn't work, i have refreshed the page and doesn't work, how do i get rid of the stupid black screen?
