there are no microtransactions that are required to play this game. the $5 unlock is a way to play the full game and for those that don't like it when you go to work tomorrow tell your boss you don't want to get paid for any of the work you do.

This game has turned too much in the direction of pay to play and pay to win... I really just don't feel like playing when I see so many things I am cut off from because I haven't paid money for a flash game.

40 seconds into the game, and it already asks me to pay. Microtransactions infected and already killed this game and the whole Gemcraft saga, one of the best flash games out there...
1/5 until they pull microtransactions off the game.

Its harder to get into than the others, and harder to play, but ultimately rewarding when you get to higher levels. The £5 isnt essential, but it does add a lot more gameplay for serious players. Ultimately I was disappointed with this although I have played it to death over on Armor Games

Some people(like myself) paid for the magician pouch on Armor Games. It would be good that we could have that here on Kongregate. We are not going to pay twice.

Same concept as in GCL. Pay 5$ to turn the vast demo into an even bigger fullversion of the game. Buying Shadow Cores is just for the impatient amongst us. I don't see anything wrong in this concept

How many people here actually think the game is bad for reasons other than microtransactions? They are part of the current world of gaming, because making games of this caliber for free would be an absolute waste of resources. The game has a massive amount of content even without Magician's Pouch and you guys are blind to that fact, because you can't get your eyes off the microtransactions to try and play the actual game.

Anyone who's complaining about microtransactions: AFAIK the only microtransaction in GC2 is in buying Shadow Cores once you've paid the one-time fee for the Magician's Pouch. That being said, the Steam version seems to make the other versions redundant...

The steam version is faaaaaaaaar better than the flash version for anybody curious
1)Far less laggy due to its non-flash nature
2)Offline mode so you can play it anytime, anywhere
3)Syncs progress
4)NO microtransactions whatsoever - all magician's pouch features are implemented into the game naturally as any other skills
5)Shadow Cores NOT used for difficulty increases - you can save all your shadow cores for upgrading your talisman fragments; there is no cost/penalty whatsoever to increasing trait levels
It's well worth it at $10, tbh, ESPECIALLY if you're considering the magician's pouch(which you really should anyways)

I didn't mind upgrading to premium with labyrinth. It was worth it. I will not engage in a hoard of microtransactions from board 1. I HATE that Gemcraft is going in this direction. Achievement "lost a fan" unlocked. 8..(..
