As with other games in this series, it's fantastically done, but there really needs to be something gained from losses. As it stands, it's just frustrating to waste time and shadow cores on losses.

Can there be an option for toning down appearances of The Forgotten?
Seems like a bit of an unnecessary scare for the more frail of us.

yay!
I'm glad i was able to copy my save file!
I didn't want to have to start-over from the beginning, it's just not fun!

uqtvdotorg: by playing wizad tower levels you unlock traits and the difficulty levels. once unlocked you can select the difficulty level you want and if you have enough shadow orbs, what traits you want and how much of each trait. there ar a total of 3 difficulty levels and 9 traits (paid version, 6 traits, 2 difficulty levels for the free one) all traits have 7 levels except hatred (the toughest one) wich has 10 levels. this means you can have 553648128 different settings for a level (all traits at 0 and normal difficulty is one of those) the poor free players will have to do with a mere 720896 different settings

Playing intensly. Hear piano chord. The Forgotten zips across the screen. Oh_Holy_Crap!!! My inner child just peed its pants and fainted.

Bah. I used to be a fan of this series, but it gets more freemium and micro with every sequel. If I wanted to play a game that requires a couple hundred actions per minute, I'd play an RTS. I'm so over spamming hotkeys just to maximize my score on a level that I've already beaten. Thanks but no thanks.

stannich, badges have to be achievable for everyone, not just those who buy the magicians pouch. and the vision fields are the hardest ones so should be the highest badge

squall6677 leaving some point unspent is good, but especially the cheaper gem skill pays itsself back quickly. once you can start with a grade 5 gem (a bit higher in the X and y levels) start spendin on skills, especially on longer levels those skills matter a lot. just make suer to only put points in the skills you need (armor tearing OR poison at the start, yellow/orange later. white if you have the magicians pouch will also help. and true colors helps a lot too.

@ Trevor , use high damage powergems ( black , yellow , red ) or freeze them on purple gem traps . Having many towers of low-mid lvl gems shooting at is worse than Having one or 2 strong gems shooting at them because they have high armor . It also works the opposite way for swarmlings. In short , Giants = Strong single gems 9 if possible with bolt ) , Swarmlings = Many Gems ( or beam if you have it )

Don't mind the shadowcore system too much, but I think charging us to make the game more challenging (to progress faster) is possibly a step too far.

So I find myself leaving my skills unlocked, but no more points in than the minimum. I find it's because starting with 300 mana isn't enough when the monsters start with 75hp, and the skills don't buff much anyway. Does anyone else find this?

Super difficult to progress without paying money, lots of fun options with the new gems though. Very fun so far, but very challenging. I feel like I am missing something. Could use better walkthrough/help

Premium content? The game seems good, but i'm going to give it a forced 1/5 for that.
I remember when flash games only relied on sponsors for revenue - that's what flash games should be like.

@neo that would be OP'd. There's a few maps with a relatively wide-open path that you can make more convoluted mazes on, though I can't remember where they are.
@Zinake: no, that just means the initial building cost is zero until you've built one or two. I think the max you can build for free is 4 or 5.

Badges would be great. Medium badge to finish the game, hard badge to complete all vision fields and an impossible one to complete all fields on Haunting difficulty.

Ignore my last comment. You gain +9 if you skip glaring and beat haunting. Which, if you do glairing its +3 then haunting is +6, it all adds up. So everything is all good!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
If you go straight to Haunting and skip glaring you don't earn the +3 skill points for beating it even if you go back and beat it on glaring.

I;m sorry, but 1/5. before, gemcraft was free and fun, now too many things requires payment. this needs to stop. this is not the gemcraft that I know and love anymore.

@uberconnor to unlock more skills, you have to find maps with "tome chambers". The simplest type of tome chamber can be unlocked by killing enough reaver(normal) monsters next to it.

As a buyer of the mage pouch, I have to say losing access to some of the best gem skills just for the sakes of the pouch is not on at all! I can understand not having map areas, and certain skills which IMPROVE gem performance or overall ease, I can even stand not having all the building options immediately until unlocked with skills, but not being able to improve all the gem types I feel is a mistake, and I hope this is rectified in the next game.

I was stunned when i checked kongregate that there is new GemCraft played it trought, and checked www.gameinabotle.com and realized they made 2 of my all time favorite games cutclass reef and curssed wind.
TERRIFIC WORK!

It's a good game but, frankly, I think Labyrinth was far superior. Within 30 minutes, I had paid for the extras for Labyrinth (and have played it through 3-4 times) - I still haven't paid for this one (and I don't foresee myself replaying it). I *REALLY* dislike needing shadow cores to increase difficulty (I'm fine with their other uses). I find this game overly restrictive (you can only build amplifiers on certain missions, you can't unlock extra gem types on maps, etc, etc).
