tip for level 12: try to have around 80 pirates left for the final ship and then just engage it in close quarters so that you won't have to worry about the helper ships that appear on the bottom.

If you are getting confused about which way is up, it is whichever side of the ship is pointing more towards the top of the screen. If you appear to be pointing exactly straight up, it's probably whichever side was last pointing upward.

This is a grat game i only found 1 flaw that destroyed the game for me. from time to time the controls just lock themself and cause of that i die repetedly. no its not my keybord its only this game that it happens in.

cant yu use harvestsun strategy, but while attacking them in the ship. shoot them also?
so yu can be sure all the shots connect and get 100% bonus.
(shoot lil tho. dont want shots to fly after the ship dies.)

the edge of the ocean is super annoying, you think you can dodge some cannon fire, but then you sail into an invisible wall and you explode. oh yay. Also I dislike the not being able to fire in the right direction all the time. Otherwise, there is nothing more satisfying than ridiculous amounts of rubble after a 100% full broadside.

So the enemy ships get to outmaneuver me by going backwards and gliding side to side? That doesn't make it more challenging necessarily, just cheap. I'm nearly fully upgraded and I'm having a hard time with the final boss because smaller ships keep sailing in on the bottom half of the screen where they can simple 'stick' to my ship and murder all of my pirates. Speaking of which, shouldn't there be a healthy dose of mutineers/sellouts willing to work for my ship after I win a battle with another ship? I played this game through for it's addicting game play, but these mechanical errors are just irritating and depreciate the fun of the game.

Great game, its funny when ur attaking by bording pirates on the enemy ship, the sound effect sounds like captin barbossa is in there

I follow the harvestsun strategy and the best way to loose less pirate is waiting at the top of the map, attacking by front rear or middle doesnt change anything, or is even worse....

mwahahaha! i just shot your ship with 100 cannonballs! wait... why are you still floating?!?! you're made of WOOD. you should at least be on fire or something, not living!

tip: The more you shoot/hit the more money you get. ex: 40 shots @ 100% yields 4000. While 110 shots @ 100% yields 7000. So when you are fighting side by side, unload!

This game was great but it could be SO much better.
+ Make levels larger with landmass obsticals
+ Add different types of ammunition as power-ups (ex: Chainshot, Explosive shot)
+ Customize the look of ships from sails to shape
+ Expand story by adding ports to buy upgrades and aquire missions
+ Restrict crew and canon limits to the size of the ship so that players cant have 500 men and 300 canons on a sailboat sized vessel.

So,
1) max crew,
2) max cannons,
3) max reload,
4) level 5 turning
5) MAX hp.
And don't forget my tip SHOOT 1 SHOOT AND HIT ONE SHIP!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is simple, max out the crew, and (Im against the harvestsun's comment) shoot ONE shoot and hit one ship, (That tactic gives you 4k instead the 2500 of harvestun's tactic), then, the speed isn't really important, because you are using your crew (and your are ALWAYS at the top of the map, (u must)), Lets start maxing the cannons, because you have crew, and crew reloads cannons, then, yeap, cannon's reload, now upgrade the turning power to 5 ( no more, because is insignificant the speed that you turn, this is just for balance ). Now, and again against the harvestsun's comment, max out ship armor, BECAUSE your crew in level 12,13 is not enough, And I really recommend that if you have a half of your crew, start shooting like crazy because you will not have crew to reload the cannons, and doesn't matters how much you have leveled reload power... The cannons will not reload T_T

Very nice game! There seems to be a bug with the controls locking up randomly though wich tends to get quite annoying. But other than that it's a great game over all :). Hope you can find the bug :)!

Complaints:1.Firing cannons is stupid,I would not know up from down if I have the front of the ship to the north.2.....Nothing.4/5 for me.

The advanced levels are like Space Invaders... there are a lot of ships and you must kill them before they reach you at the bottom.

Two issues I have with the game: one, the enemy ships slide upward way too quickly (an enemy ship with one sail moves faster once you come around the top of it) and two, I drag ships with me when we are engaged in 'close combat' which is especially annoying when I didn't even want to engage in close combat... but other than that it was a pretty good game

Quarter Master: "Starboard canons ready to fire, sir!" // Noobbeard: "What's this shamble? Just fire up! No! Fire down!" // Pirate instructor: "You have just failed your pirate licence!"

To add to XenoShadow215's tactics: At level 3, even if your accuracy rating is only 80%, you get a bonus of 3200 gold--still better than the 2500 bonus for not shooting. Easiest way to keep your accuracy up is to pull close enough to engage in ship-to-ship combat with your men, and then fire your cannons.

Yagames, if you can't move your ship, I'd recommend you to stop playing at all :p On later levels just shooting won't be enough.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'd like to add something to harvestsuns guide: if you shoot with 100 % accuracy, you get even more than 2500 gold. So if you are very close to a ship, shoot.

A little tweak on xenoshadow and harvestsun's strategies: Max crew, but instead of maxing speed, throw a couple points in there but max damage first, with 1-3 points in turning (just enough to keep you where you want to be). Why? Because, when you close with a fighter your size or larger, nail him with all your cannons. All of them should hit if you're broadside with him, and it will reduce his crew, saving your crewmen. Max reload and speed alternatively, whatever you feel you need more of, and no more than 3 points in turning, and NONE in armour. For every level you get 100% accuracy, you get 1000gp x level, so level 4 you get 4000gp, lvl 5 you get 5000gp, etc. which is why this strategy is better than no shooting at all, like xenoshadow said.

You know what this game needs? Two separate 'fire' buttons, one for shooting left and the other for shooting right. Because 9/10 times, whenever I tried shooting at the enemy from anyone BESIDES the bottom of the screen, it would fire in the opposite direction. That combined with the slow pace and insulting simplicity of this game makes me wonder if you even gave a crap at all. Next time why not just put "This is a game" in a text file and be done with it.

Wewt! My theory was correct! If you have enough pirates left after all the other enemies are gone, you can simply board the level 12 boss and not bother with his summoned ships at all! Though I did fire my cannons and ended up making two ships pop up when I tested this, I dodged long enough for the big momma ship to blast cannon her babies away, and latched on again. And you know what? I won with 1 pirate left. Last man standing ftw. Rate up this comment So everyone knows they can board the last enemy ship and still win. You just need 120+ left. Preferably 150.
