LOL!!! Challenge 17 (Yellow Sign Blues)...enemy plays yog-sothoth: both get MEGALOMANIA...+7 taint per turn. Ended with 31 taint, dying from a tommy gun after that yellow thinghy left me at 2 life points.

oh and of course don't attack if he has a shambler on the field, you want to be able to attack without taking damage in return. Hold onto that Ibn card to dispell his arcane power, monsters should be the least of your worries. If your elder defense is dispelled switch to pure offense as his next card or card after will be a powerful attack.

Best strat I found to beat challenge 15: Always play health cards EXCEPT if you have elder thing or armitage. Trust me, if he can kill you with defense on, he would probably have killed you with it off. Cards you should hope for: Dark Young Charge/Tindalos (Pure atk, use as your final attacks), Rise of deep ones (The arcane bonus use right away), the +5 arcane book, invul is actually useless due to guns, Hastur's Blessing (use immediately, save miskatonic for removing taint), Dark Goat (attack + counter attack if you survive his). If you must use shoggoth, use shoggoth, but WAIT and use the above cards first if you have them.You want to first heal to 13, 15 if possible, in order to survive a single attack from all cards, and if you cannot heal, boost elder defense instead, the arcane cards are what will one-shot you. Boosting arcane makes it take less attacks to take him out. Use yog immediately if you get it, halves his HP. Discard a creature to return to sanity. That should help.

This is the most stupid game I've ever seen. Where's players' ability in completing a challenge, when a challenge just consists in a lot of tries until you drop those exact cards which allow you to win? Should I restart the game until spiders will feast on my rotten old flesh?
It's just a matter of luck, not of skills nor intelligence.

The bottom right number in the circle on every card is a sanity penalty you get for using that card.. If you want to lose your sanity quickly, just spam the cards with higher sanity penalties (1,2,3, ect), like summoning and healing cards.

I agree with those guys, i got absolutely no idea how to loose sanity, and my cards simply don't work on my opponents..

I have already played the next one of theses before this one so pretty much everything is the same which I like most everything in the last one. I never understood though how he can lvl faster than you if you beat him more than he beats you. This time around I only lost like 2 times and he was like 2 lvls ahead of me. I still have to beat the challenges which I think are going to suck since when you are not evenly matched luck plays a big factor. Keep up the good work.

All I can say is thank you, as much as Kongegate has many great games & as much as I am not a fan of card games this is the best game to date. It captures the memories I have of playing Cthulhu RPG - and also the lack of a great console version. As a well designed (if I dare say straight-forward) concept of the card game - its superb. The random element plus the great concept of sanity - taint - arcane level combined with the many Cthulhu entities and oh boy - my life is so not in a good state anymore.

Calling them challenges implies that the player can do something to influence the outcome. Short of giving us the ability to pick a deck OR the ability to have both siudes play under the same rule it is more uselessness than a challenge

If you get Blackmailed into discarding Doppleganger it still triggers the card effect.
Whether that's an advantage or not is up to you.

funny i got the achievement for completing the game by unlocking all 30 ranks and the game said i completed it and yet im only rank 27...

Anyone else having some issues with the easy badge? I've already played 2 games and got below 0 on sanity. And I have looked at the results. Still no badge :/
