Solid game. Nothing original or unseen, but it never claimed that in the first place. The difficulty had just the right level with maybe being a bit on the easy side. Overall a nice 20m game and in no way deserving of all the negative comments. 4/5.

*deep breath* Okay, so first of all the music was badly looped and it lasted for 30 seconds at best. The controls were okay, but you had to HOLD down the opposite button to stop sliding on a wall, which made me fail multiple times. The levels were really unoriginal and your tiniest mistake ended with death. You couldn't go back and forth in some levels, so if you forgot a star or a key, well, enjoy the fall! I guess... ANYWAY 1/5

[Deep sigh] Don't make it so one teensy little hit resets the whole damn level. Stop trying to recreate Super Meat Boy, it wasn't *that* good. 1/5

It's not a bad game, after completing it. But it does feel a little overly simple. None of the levels are very challenging (even to collect all the stars), there's absolutely no story to hold it together, and none of the gameplay mechanics are original. But it did have good music, so 4/5.

You can't turn off the sound.
This is the sort of game to run while listening to radio, so the sounds NEED to be able to be turned off

At first the controls were a little too loose for me, but I got used to it and really liked the game. Halfway point saves would be nice, but in the end game wasn't too frustratingly hard. Fun.

8 first levels are quite easy, and then, since level 9, it becomes to be very hard, stressfull, and finally, it really needs some checkpoints, or a way to look around to avoid those boring unnecessary deaths...

An in-game star counter and the ability to drop down walls faster would help a lot. The controls are a little sticky sometimes - about 80% of the time it's fine. I also agree with bsmash. It's those little things that make me rate a 5 star game a 4.

I had serious problems with wall jump... Perhaps I am missing something, but I fail to jump high enough on the rightmost wall of the third level, thus not reaching the platform of the door. Also, I am lagging (perhaps the things are connected?)

It's a little awkward jumping off downward slopes. Really easy to be in a 'midair state' coming off them so you can't do a running jump. Also felt some of the jumps/drops were blind which I'm not really a fan of. (Like in level 11, dropping onto the first dissolving platform) But it's a fun and simple, solid little platformer. I don't think a story is all that necessary though I guess it's a little misleading with a name like "Prophet". I'm still personally fine without one. More levels would be cool too!

Huh, with a title like Prophet, I was actually expecting a rather epic storyline, but I was just running through barren lands (save for that one dude watching TV). Very smooth controls, by the way.

GAMEPLAY: Fun. 4/5
STORY: Left for the player to conjure up. 3/5
ART: Nice use of pixels; ambient music; pleasant. 5/5
OVERALL: Great; could have had a bit more story, even if vague. 4/5

I liked it, and completed it, which is unusual for me. My only complaint is that at the beginning of certain levels, there's a jump which stretches the limits of how far the character can jump, which leads to a lot of annoying respawns even as I'm struggling with something much later in the level. Overall, though, it's a pleasant game - I'm not entirely sure why everyone is complaining. The creator never said it had a meaningful story or jaw-dropping gameplay mechanics, and I found it fun.

The game looks good, i like the pixelated design. Controls are great, I can feel the character. The level design is terrible. Zero indications about whether there is some bullshit blinking field that will kill my character when I jump down a pit (and there is no other path, jump to the left, you live, jump to the right, you die). A lot of unfair deaths and unneeded trial and error gameplay made me stop playing.

Generic platformer with a meaningless title. The style is nice, but style alone is not enough. And people complain that it's the big-budget games that are all style and no substance...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why is it called Prophet? It's just a simple platform game, rather like Meat Boy. It's got a stylish and ominous ambiance to it, but there's no interesting mechanics or creative levels to speak of.

On the one hand, if I never play another puzzle platformer where you collect three stars and then get to the exit... I will not be cry about it. On the other hand, this controls really well. It's very smooth and responsive. Certainly better than its peers.

@spiders I see no words? What story is being detracted from. Controls are pretty good, and it's surprising how enjoyable the levels are with so little.

so close... visuals and music are great, though game-play should never be about fighting the controls. work on puzzles and enemies to pull you into the story rather than focusing on your keyboard and pulling you out.
