Under rating threshold (show) This game is pretty good. Saying sorting through and equipping items is tedious, would be quite the understatement though.

Under rating threshold (show) It's a lot easier to kill the boss and any healers first before killing the monsters in the front row.

Under rating threshold (show) Correcting this comment .. "If you just have warriors and rogues, you won’t be able to get to the boss if he’s in the back row." You can get to the back row by killing everyone in the front row.

Under rating threshold (show) Character positioning is important too. Whoever is in the front row in the middle is going to get hit the most since all three enemy melee characters can target him. Similarly, mass effects like cleave do best in the middle. One party I ran with 2x warrior, cleric with ranger in the back put the cleric on the wing so that only two melee characters could target him.

Under rating threshold (show) I've never had problems with the corrupter, probably because I target him first. However, one thing I've seem to notice is if a character kills his mirror directly, then the character dies. So, try not to have characters target their mirror unless its a mass effect. And again, target the corruptor first.

Under rating threshold (show) By level 5, you should start caring more about quickness and +health/+mana items than armor value and stat buffs. Gloves that have stun can be helpful for melee fighters. With the changes to hail of arrows, damage gets to be more important than kill/stun/poison effects, but kill/stun/poison is still valuable. A good rule of thumb.. if you're able to kill the enemy in one round of all your characters attacking, then up endurance between rounds. If you can't kill in one round, up str/int/dex as appropriate. Endurance is important as enemy damage reflect gets more painful at later levels.

Under rating threshold (show) I've gotten to level 50 twice. One effective team (pre 1.2) was one cleric in the front row and 3 rangers in the back row. Hail of arrows is nerfed so it might not be as good, but pierce combined with healing and the ability to target bosses and acolytes/shamans in the back row is good. The cleric does a lot of damage and can also "tank" while keeping himself invulnerable. Also, learn how to milk battles to heal up. Weaken a nonthreatening creature (arachnoid, protector, skeleton) and let him stay near death while you gain mana and health regen. The most important thing to do on the first level is get health regen items and equip them. The second most important thing is to kill all monsters and grab all chests before facing the boss. The third most important thing is to target the boss. If you just have warriors and rogues, you won't be able to get to the boss if he's in the back row.

Under rating threshold (show) I'm glad that you can't close your browser to get out and restart a fight.. it stops people from disconnecting on the "single death" levels. The best way to avoid this is to equip a "may retreat instantly" item on one of your characters. That way, even if your other party members die, you can use an altar to restore. For those complaining about inventory management, get a good idea of what items you need and don't pick up the crappy ones. Most of the items seem to have "common" bonuses. For example, level 40 you might get a +30 health +4 mana regen item. On level 42, it'll probably be a +32 health, +4 mana. On level 45, something like +35 health, +4 mana. So, skip it until you need it. Just browse chests for purple and blue items and don't grab anything until the enemies start getting tougher.

Under rating threshold (show) This is 7/8s of an awesome game, and Lord knows I love good dungeon games. But I can't stand the fact that most of one's time is spent in the inventory screen, swapping out items for very slightly better items. It gets so that I dread every new treasure chest. Also, I do wish the story were ever _slightly_ more original. It's like Diablo crossed with the we-killed-the-boss-so-it's-collapsing plot present in every He-Man episode.

Under rating threshold (show) honestly, it is kind of unfair how if you restart the game in hardcore during a battle, the enemy's health fills up but your character's doesn't. My window spontaneously combusted. I loaded up the game and my cleric was dead and my mages were doing pretty bad, and so I lost the game because of it.

Under rating threshold (show) One *single* reason I can't give this game a 5, and I wish I could give it a 4.8 instead: because there are no random battles, movement through the entire dungeon again to check back through rooms (and it happens several times a level if you want to clear and explore 100%) takes considerably longer than needed, and it seems to be draining to the point that I don't want to play. That being said, a single fix like that will cause me to hold my vote, I'm more than willing to give you a 5 if you can simplify movement.

Under rating threshold (show) Hey Sterango: you realize that every boss on the first 8 levels is optional, right? Admittedly you're missing out on the best gear if you don't beat them, but the level 1 gear is going to be obsolete by the time you face the Corruptor, anyhow. Skipping the first boss is an entirely viable strategy if you don't think you'll be able to win it. I took a party of 4 mages to level 9 on Extreme, although I didn't make it to the Corruptor fight... died to a group of 6 regular enemies that I failed to kill by TWO HP out of several hundred. It was fun, though; I beat 6 out of 8 of the bosses, including the first level boss. All those potions of speed and protection are a huge help for boss battles, where being able to take out dangerous underlings quickly is key.

Dec. 23, 2007

Under rating threshold (show) Well im sorry but Extreme is just all around bad the more I play it. There's simply not enuogh gear to go around in the first level to give you enough of an advantage against the boss of the first level, i mean considering theres 6 of them onto 4 of you and they stun you then mass health regen. 90% of the time you will die on boss 1 in extreme, no doubt.

Under rating threshold (show) version 1.1 and SOME of 1.2 wrere great, but then another difficulty mode? useless. hail of arrows on a lethal rangers become useless. hail of arrows misses 1/2 the time and letahlity barely happens, in the past 50 hails, only three have been lethaled. and then nerfing weapons even more? horrible.

Under rating threshold (show) “The Corruptor” is too easy on easy. Use: rogue skill that's takes Quickness to 0. Then max damage by Cleric and Mage. And finally, (the most damaging) use the Warrior skill that does 2 blows if the target's is slower than the Warrior. 4 Hit Kill.

Under rating threshold (show) Some of your 1.2 changes have severely nerfed some skills, notably hail of arrows. Gratend the skill was over powered with the %to kill stat, but the changes you made to both rly "killed" that combo (forgive the pun). Allow me to explain: at its base, it now has highly reduced chances to hit with both arrows because each of them hits at 70% accuracy. With the change to % to kill (and other dmg stats, but lethal and stun got hit the worst), the stat is now divided by the number of targets and then again by 2. So in a 6 enemy battle, given 30% lethal stat, each arrow only has 2.5% to kill. I dunno maybe thats how you wanted it, but seems severe IMO. Still a great game tho :D

Under rating threshold (show) so what party makeup seems to be the best that the Extreme people are having luck with? I tried 3 mages and a cleric, thats my group for normal mode that i tear up with, but the group sucks when these boss fights have monsters all taking turns before you and the cheap orc champions making you unable to target shamans, it's seeming like exrteme is just a novelty mode and not to be taken seriously.
