Truly has magnificent potential
PLEASE keep working on it!
Some character development other than seeing yourself lvl up would be nice.
For instance, when you lvl up you can choose between better combat or trading skills,or maybe increased bounty, etc.

Thanks for all the constructive comments. I'm hoping to be updating it shortly. My current list of stuff is:
* better fights (the things going off the screen for ages will be fixed)
* more varied story missions
* more varied encounters (one big ship boss battles, etc)
* sound
* missiles and other upgrades
* faster ships (bought like an upgrade but basically it'll double your planet-planet time.
All this should be updated in the next couple of days, I hope you'll pop back and have a look.

very frustrating during encounters when the enemie fly off screen for a minute... spend a lot of time waiting for him just to see him scoot over a corner and fly away again.....also, very slow and randomness is very unbalences, neat though 3/5

ok now, im going to be neutral on this, on one hand, excelent game it looks great and the grafics are really good BUT its only a POTENTIAL EXCELENT game, in other words, it needs some serious fixing, to start new enemies that move diferently maybe even bosses, then more upgrades even more weapons if posible, now its good, if you take it to the extreme it will simply be one of the greatest games i have seen, now you have the chance of leaving it like this and keep hearing comments like : "earn what epic means, then you can have the other 4 stars" or you can fix it and just get good comments.
anyway you get 3 stars for the good gafrics and a good playing system, but fix it and you have my 5 stars

I DO like this game, but I with Ditto what others have said, it could use some more. I like the trade aspect, but it could use more battle action.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Re-write the description, trade is a sideline in the game. And the planet descriptions... a heavily policed planet so you meet lots and lots of weak piates ?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hahah as much as i want sound in this game its debatable. which is worse... people complaining about it not having sound, or people complaining they dont want sound cause they want to listen to their own music...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Right now it's boring as hell.I hope this is just a very rough beta or something. All you do is trade, shoot pirates, or shoot asteroids. And all the pirates do is randomly fly around and sometimes shoot at you.

Moreso than faster planetary travel, it would be great to have a "Skip" feature that lets you bypass the ride to either the encounter or the planet (whichever occurs).

fun, good game. just to repeat what others have said: more weapons, some more movement during combat, maybe a few more enemies or different pain scemes on them. good job though.

Great game, but it could use some work. Here are some suggestions: More upgrades such as different weapons, fire rate, speed (to go faster between planets), ect. that can be bought multiple times. Some one time buy things would be cool to like a hyperspace drive or something to escape a battle or instantly go to your destination. New ship types all together for both you and enemies. Maybe the ability to buy land on planets that automatically produces what ever the planet exports, and then you can pick it up by going there. Quests where you don't just go to a planet, but also figure something out or choose a side. Maybe even like a something like a stock market. And a more costumizable ship. These are all just suggestions, but take them into consideration.

Really good. But I think the randomness of the pirate attacks is a little off balance. I was only level 2 and i got hit by 5 waves of pirates between when making a short trip. Other than that it's fun. Reminds me of the old Starflight games

Wow, you should really add in somewhere that you can hold down click to shoot >_> I only just found that out after 15+ encounters with asteroids/pirates.

The interface is very nice, but it needs to be changed so that we can move around awhile attacking (very annoying to have to wait for the ships to show up before you attack), either fully free 3-d movement or just kinda being able to pivot your viewing angle around. Also sound would be nice lol.

its quite obvious you've put effort into this game, but with a little more you could of turned the game from quite good , to really fun and addictive.
just subtle details like a couple of new weapons, couple of new enemies, and maybe a little more detail in your planet pixels.
this game has potential =]

Adal8or, Game maker pro? I've never tested pro, but I thought it only made .exe files. And Kongregate doesn't support .exe files.

The concept is good and the graphics are nice, but the gameplay is very slow and repetitive. It would be much better if you could fly the ship. Graphical changes to the weapons would be nice as you upgrade them. 3/5 for now.

4/5
Game was very well-made. Simple game, decent graphics. The only minuses that it has (and most games like it do) is that the gameplay is kinda slow but some people enjoy it that way. Nice work! Thumbs up!

Idea's for upgrades:

Dual laser cannon mk2
same as laser cannon mk3 except with dual guns
Gatling cannon mk3
SUPER high fire rate, med-high damage
small bit of splash damage(if possible)
Laser beam mk1
slow-med fire rate
very high damage
medium duration
Laser beam mk2
medium fire rate
medium-high duration
Laser beam mk3
high duration
slightly higher damage
Gauss cannon mk1
medium fire rate
MUCCHH better damage than previous weapons

I really like the 3d-ness! Should be a good game once you flesh it out a little more. Perhaps there are a few too many asteroids/pirates?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Very nicely presented; I can appreciate the effort that's gone into this. My only complaints are those of other commenters- more content in general would be nice, as it's overly simplistic. The flying through space animations are kind of pointless seeing as you can't control the ship, so.. yeah. 3 for now, 5 if new stuff is added.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Its a good concept for the game. Maybe more interesting battles (ability to move not on autopilot). Kind of reminds me of starport GE.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The graphics and the game structure are very nice and clean, but the gameplay is too monotonous and simplistic. A little bit of creativity was added by the various mission descriptions, but it all just breaks down to:
- flying between planets
- destroying asteroids or enemies
I like the touch with the trading system though.
Looking at the features of this game, it is really well made, but it needs a lot more variety and as someone mentioned, having to fly between the planets yourself instead of using the autopilot would be a nice addition.
2/5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
plus: quick and simple.
minus:
- could use a way to travel through open space (at least up to 3-4 distance).
- no variations in upgrades, encounters, quests.
- trading becomes useless when you earn ~15-20K.
4/5 in general. add some cool stuff and it'll be 5/5.

Tips for players: Get to level 3 before doing the L2 "Welcome" mission, and don't run 'valuable cargo' missions.
Suggestions for the game: Scale quest xp based on level of the destination system, and reduce the frequency of encounters. Add in tracking missiles or other alternate weapons if you plan on keeping the combat focus.

Another excellent variation of Taipan (I think the same as, but older than, Elite). I've always enjoyed this type, and the 3-D upgrade and simpler market/upgrade system keeps it to its roots. Yes, Caravaneer is a more fleshed-out game of this type, but there's still a lot to be said for nostalgia. 5/5. Thanks.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
gameplay is simple, battles aren't really all that entertaining there needs to be more to them, and it feels like I'm shooting golf balls in to space
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What's missing is a point to it all -- some sort of larger mission. What am I trying to do? Why am I doing these missions, gaining experience, etc? Make up something about princess or something :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is based on a really old classic game called Elite. I played it at school when I was 14 (23 years ago). I was lost in space for weeks...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There's a good core concept, but the game needs a lot more variety: i.e. multiple types of weapons and enemies as opposed to the same ones that just get stronger. Also, it would be nice to have more control of the ship than just picking a destination, although it wouldn't be necessary.
