It would be great if you made it so that we could set the controls. I'm using a trackpad, and I can't move around or zoom.
The game is not supposed to stop when the tab is inactive. It does work for me (firefox), so I guess that the cause is your browser/ your browser's settings.

You should let use to move around with the arrow keys instead of the mouse. It would make it much easier and still use the mouse to rotate the screen.
Left click is already used for building stuff. If the camera was also controlled by the left mouse button, then you would need to cancel the building when you want to pan. Also the middle mouse button is often responsible for camera controll. Many 3D-modell applications as well as the unity editor use this convention.
In theory they can grow indefinitely. However the cost doubles for each existing segment. So things will likely mess up when the costs exeed the highes number a float can be, which is roughly 3.4 × 10^38. This would not happen before the 120th segment. For reference: the map is 32x32 blocks.
Structures only upgrade if you have enough resources and if you have demand for upgraded structures and if you give your permission. If there are no unemployed lumberjacks, then wood structures won't upgrade.

I somehow got in to full screen when switching back to this tab from another tab in my browser. I then had to exit it. Any idea how to get back in to full screen? And I mean the unity full screen, not "cinematic mode" or F11.

I turn on the Idle City when I go home.
and next day I check it but that display is error so I refresh game.
and I load it. That is all gone. Maybe I'm not new save..
anyway, I hope to make autosave with save(user check) system.
so, when loading button is autosaving(load) , user savefile load button.

It would be really nice to be able to mouse over or click on a building and see how much resources it needs to upgrade to the next level. And also what its current level is. Would be nice to see whats going to upgrade next, and how close to one that building type is.
The upgrade costs are hut to house 150/50 house to skyskraper 500/2000 each additional skyscraper segment doubles the cost. Lumber tier 1 to 2 1000/1000 2 to 3 150000/200000. Rock tier 1 to 2 1250/1750 2 to 3 175000/250000. Faith tier 1 to 2 2000/1500 2 to 3 275000/400000.
The current level directly corresponds to its looks.

I think that if you change the building priority to resource buildings instead of housing it would work much better because at the point I have reached the housing instantly fills while the production just sits there forever constant.

Also the difference between unavailable and available for the buttons is very subtle on my screen, a little more contract between the two would help.

No middle mouse button on my laptop, or my desktop. Would be nice if the arrows or WASD could be used to move around. Giving alternates would be really helpful.

so i left it going while i was asleep, came back and had level 14 houses that stretched almost further than the camera will go, and level 2 wood cutters, miners, and churches.
Maybe I'll make an update soon which allows you to toggle auto upgrade. But I have some paid work to do and need to set my priorities right, so no promises.
The priests preach, that people who are not working hard will go to hell and suffer for all eternity. This motivates lumberjacks and masons resulting in a higher resource gain.

Nice game, but as ppl have allready pointed out, when your workers are uneployed the resource buildings should upgrade before the houses, even tho there are no more living space.

Edit: Done!

I don't know what's the case with this game. I've started playing, creeped small part of map with building entirely and thought "Myeah, okay"... but then buildings started upgrading and it was so much fun! I don't know why, to be truthful, it seems not as exciting as it left me excited... "woah, those little guys are doing something, cool!" ^^

is there a bug with the upgrades? I added on enough stone buildings so that the next building would have cost about 3000/0. My next religion building would have been like 100/200. Then I closed the game and when i reopened it again, the stone was all the way back to around 100/0 and the religion is now 4121/6868. I still have the same amount of stone and religion buildings as before

its good but you get ot a piont where auto-upgrade uses all your resouces on population, so you cant do crap but wiat 20 minutes

The game isnt really amazing but it has lots of potential! maybe add a story or more complex buldings. animations would also be nice. further than that i kinda liked it
Thanks for your reply. Originally, I was just trying to create a grid based building system. Then I kinda sliped into random terrain creating. At that point i thought, that I might as well make something small with it and this game was the result. One might consider this a practice, but lets be honest; kongregate has seen worse.
