I've had the full game on steam for a while now and enjoy it very much. It's pretty cheap and has given me hours of enjoyment. Whenever I'm thinking about games I think about the cost of going to the movies. It costs $10 for 2 hours of enjoyment. This game gives many more hours for not much more than that. I haven't played it on Kongregate so if it's a short demo I understand the feedback, just wanted to let you know what I thought of the full game since it's pretty cheap (last I checked it was $15).

4/5. Yaroslav, I have noticed that buying the full game is 12 dollars (Australian), could you please explain how this is calculated (what features cost how much, and how this adds up to that).

If you are looking for the next Sea Dogs, this is not it, but Tempest is good at what it does, which is to let you wander around a fair sized map sinking ships and looting the wreckage. A solid enough demo.

One issue... Everytime I've attempted to do the quest "Secret Negotiations", the game freezes and throws the following error message, "Out of memory. If you are the developer of this content, try allocating more memory to your WebGL build in the WebGL player settings." I'm assuming this may caused by a conflict between Mozilla and Unity. Just thought I'd make you aware of it. Otherwise, really cool game! I really like it!

If you're trying to make a mobile game, don't publish it on a windows platform . The controls are completely unplayable. The game looks good but if you can't get movement and control down, you're sunk. Good luck.
Hi Bongobong99! It's Yaroslav from HeroCraft. The game was initially designed with PC players in mind. If you find it difficult to control your ship, take the tutorial (it can be accessed at any point in time in the game). Another useful tip: try using keyboard shortcuts and arrows. These two make it significantly easier to control ship movement.

I couldn't get through the tutorial. Once I got to the zoom, there did not seem to be anyway to progress. (My tablet has neither a mousewheel nor a number pad.) I reloaded the window and left this message.
Hello! Unfortunately, the WebGL version of the game is available only for browsers. If you want to play our game using your tablet, please go to App Store/Google Play and download it.

I got an out of memory message when trying to re-join the battle I lost during the Small Inheritance side-mission. I didn't bother checking if it applied to any other battles.

Is it really that much to ask for a mute all sounds option at the very start without having to go through the tutorial and start?

Liked the game up until the endless loading screen that lead to "out of memory". And I hadnt hit any "paywalls". But otherwise the entire concept was interesting as was the little story line I saw up to that point. Little curious how my ship "was lost" and yet my entire crew and I "sailed" back to the island and were miraculously in another ship that had bare bones resources on it.
Hi, hein84! No, it is not entirely true, we've explained the monetization model in the popular comments above. You can play Tempest from start to finish, but some elements and segments of the map require a purchase.

Tried the game. Despite the tutorial controls and where information is remains unclear. Trying to board the ship. Rammed it. No boarding. Tried again. No boarding. Ship lost as enemy ship keeps firing while I cannot as my damage arcs keep disappearing. And that is besides all the pay walls.

Hi Herocraft, if you meant what you said in your response to Lunea, please add "Demo" to the title of the game. That way people won't feel cheated or scammed when they reach the paywall
It's not a limited version of the game, you don't need to download anything extra to play it. It's not cheating, it's how the game is being monetized. Some elements are accessible after you unlock them, among them some areas of the map. By "Demo" it's meant that you can play the game and try all its mechanics, decide if you like it or not, and that's totally free. But still, I understand your concerns, I'll deliver the message to the developers!

How did your game win the hearts of over 50,000 players? I assume only 50,000 people played it, and you paid the app store to give it a good review so the players would try it? I already see one comment that was clearly paid or someone on your team.
Hi, Lustre! It's Yaroslav from HeroCraft.
No, actually we didn't ask anyone to comment us positively. Neither players nor colleagues. The line about 50,000 players is about Steam, we've been released there for quite a while now and Tempest is one of our top-performing games on that platform. We know about several problems with this version of the game, modified specifically for Kongregate, like the long loading time. We're already looking into them. Can you specify what exactly you didn't like?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
fun start, but looks like that's it for free game. after tutorial all i see is "want to unlock?" message that takes you to the shop. You're telling me i can't even upgrade a ship without paying? The game would probably sell better on steam or other platform with tutorial as free demo that this
Hi, flidan! It's Yaroslav from HeroCraft.True the game feels like locked in too many places. We're going to add more accessibility by unlocking two more ships on which you can sail the seas. It's going to happen soon in the nearest update. But besides that, there is a lot to discover on the first map without paying anything, enough to enjoy the free gameplay for a couple of evenings. I really appreciate that you liked Tempest, and thank you for the feedback!
P.S. We're already on Steam for quite a while :)
Hi, n1nj0c0t! We want to understand what causes the problem, can you please give us more information on this black screen issue? Does it appear right after the loading is finished?
Hi, Gwarks! It's Yaroslav from HeroCraft. Yeah, the long loading is unavoidable right now. Originally Tempest was a client game, so on Kongregate it takes some time to load all the 3D models and textures that are used in it. However, we're looking into this, probably we can fix it somehow and make waiting time shorter. It's still an ongoing process at the moment. Thank you for the feedback!

Cool game! Tutorial is not for weak :D Good art, intresting quests, but gameplay controls are not very comfortable. The best thing is a story! I feel like being there on a ship at sea. Thanks for this game!
Hi, Lunea! It's Yaroslav from HeroCraft. It's reoccurring feedback that the game feels small due to early appearing paywalls – we will change it soon. I don't think I need to mention that game development is expensive and games should earn money, let's skip it. I'll explain why we did it like this. Tempest on Steam is a B2P project, but games on Kongregate are to be playable right away. We came to a decision to make it sort of an extensive demo for this plarform. It's a full game though, it's not limited and you don't need to download anything extra to play it through. There's a big chunk of the game that is not limited by monetization, so you could give it a shot before deciding if you want to spend any money.
In the latest hotfix we've unlocked two more ships. Now they are free to try as well :)

Well worth the long download. Beautiful textures, design, effects, and scenery. Just my first impressions; looking forward to playing more soon.
