Description
Story
Hyperia is a peaceful kingdom within the nation of Iodia. These peaceful times are about to come to an abrupt end. The Crimson Knight has overthrown King Hypere and thrown the kingdom into disarray. The Crimson Knight has set his sites on ruling the kingdom with an iron fist.
Tales of Hyperia: The Crimson Knight follows the journey of four courageous brothers that embark on a quest to stop the Crimson Knight and return Hyperia to its rightful ruler. Isaac is the eldest of the brothers. He is a self-taught swordsman that emulates the hero of the kingdom, Ramrod. Ben is a magician that focuses on the black arts. He learns all of his spells through various books spread throughout the kingdom. Elliott is a goofball that loves to make people laugh. He also has a big heart and wants to help people at all costs. His specialty is healing white magic. Dorian is the youngest and wants to follow in the footsteps of Hyperia’s greatest martial arts master, Master Sha. He is typically a scaredy cat and believes that this martial art will help boost his confidence.
Can the boys work up the strength and courage to take on this new evil?
The game was developed in GB Studio and has that retro Gameboy charm.

Developer Updates
What’s New in Version V2:
I created a brand new font to replace the default GB Studio font. I also edited the font spacing so the font isn’t as spaced out.
Fixed some spelling and grammatical errors that slipped through the cracks in demo V1.0. I also removed some of the superfluous text to reduce button presses/clicks.
The equipment menu is a lot more streamlined in this version. There’s also an option to optimize a character’s equipment from the menu as well as an option to equip newly acquired equipment once obtained.
Each character has a new secondary skill to use in battle.

I'm loving the graphics and the game boy vibe. it is the only thing that made me survive the waaay to long intro which required waaay to many clicks to go through. man. the text box is really small for obvious reasons but you need to rethink that intro, i was this close to stop the game :) and i did it when it came to equipping items. look how many times i have to click and how many text i have to go through when equipping an item. this is really too slow to play
Thanks for the input. I'll definitely take that into consideration for future builds of the game.

How to equip items? The instructions need to be improved.
(And ignore Harperson, they only make stupid comments like this. Avoid at all costs.)
Thanks for the reply. First you have to open every chest in the boy's house and go back to the main room. Press [Shift] to open the menu, and select Equip and then one of the boys. Pushing Z on any of the boxes will open up a menu to pick a piece of equipment. I'll add that to the instructions. Edit: I just realized I forgot to key for the menu. Sorry for that.

Equipping items is a tedious process. Possible ways to fix it: An Optimize button to automatically equip the best items available for that character. An option to toggle off the item descriptions that happen every time you equip something. Have the system remember that you selected Equip so you can equip the next character a bit more quickly.
Thanks for your comment. I totally agree, the equipment menu is more tedious than it needs to be. I am in the process of streamlining that process. I've added an optimization option as well as an option to equip things as soon as they are acquired.

Very much need a list of controls, had to trial & error everything. Action key in intro says "A", but that's incorrect. Seems to be J and Z, with K acting as Cancel or Back. Agreed the intro/ tutorial is painfully long & slow with far too many button presses to advance. Equipping team with items requires a silly number of button presses. Tried to use Skills menu, it gets stuck after viewing both skill types with no way to exit or advance. Look forward to some improvements, would like to see where this goes
Thanks for the comment. The game is being developed for use on the Gameboy, so the instructions were written with that layout in mind. I'm going to release a V2.0 of the demo that will address that. I also added some new features that streamlines the equipping process and fixed that bug you caught.

Another suggestion: Add a Defend option in battle to raise defense so your mage/cleric can do something other than hit for 0 or use items when their mp runs out. Giving Isaac a Taunt option to increase his chances of being attacked rather than someone squishier would be nice, too, but I recognize that it would probably be more difficult to program.
I really like this idea. I plan on incorporating this idea in my next build.
