If you think this game is frustrating, don't even try number IV.
Take your time building your character. Reload is a useful tool... :)

@therevspecial: It is not just frustrating, it is pure crap! I just died on floor 15 by freezing. I spent so much time already... Getting bored... Is there a way to block the game of auto-saving at death, so I can just refresh the side and go on from the last save-point?

for those who got in the worst situation after entering a new floor: RELOAD THE PAGE SO YOU SPAWN IN THE FLOOR YOU WHERE BEFORE
[also this will re roll the entier next floor so there is that]

Don't try to fight your way through the last few frozen levels, just find your way down as fast as possible. You'll never survive trying to clear those levels of enemies.

tried the pure stealth approach, first spawn in w 6 rats. descend stairs to lvl 3 and discover 8 orcs and 3 bats in a tiny room. suuuper balanced game lmao. how does trash like this even get badges???

This game keeps on frustrating after each play. Current best: found myself in a place with no exit, after "falling" into an invisible teleport trap...

It's a fun challenging game. So challenging that the medium badge took me almost 2 hours when I earned it 3 years ago.

just as a help to others who may not know:
''roguelike (plural roguelikes)
Any of a genre of computer role playing games loosely characterized by various characteristics such as randomised environment generation, permadeath, turn-based movement, text-based or primitive tile-based graphics and hack-and-slash gameplay.''

Immortal Lefty: The game does load. Have you tried restarting your computer? Or perhaps you need to do other things to clear up some memory up such as deleting cookies and defragmenting? Are you playing on a more common browser? My older Chrome Version works fine. I tried loading the game using an older Firefox version and it wouldn't load (I don't use that browser much so likely I didn't download Ruffle onto it, which may be the reason for it not playing). But maybe your current browser is incompatible. While I am not computer savvy, hopefully this gives you ideas to figure out what you need to do to be able to play this game.

Why is the game so glitchy and buggy now none of the numbers for healthbars, item quantities, etc align right. I have no idea how much money I have so I have to guess when I buy stuff. All the other rogue fables are bugged too and the third one is unplayable.

This game, much like the original, is incredibly fun, but incredibly difficult. This one is definitely more polished, and adds some new ideas, but it's still obviously got less of both of those than the games that have come since this game.

It's amazing to play this game and its sequel back-to-back. Honestly I don't mind too much that this game is so much more random, but the "miss" mechanic is so annoying. You'll have an awesome run going with a high-level character, making calculated or total risk-taking moves. But since you missed one tile ahead and the monster didn't, you died. So glad this wasn't in the sequel.

I feel like an idiot: I used my necromancer's toxic cloud spell to wipe out a group of enemies, then walked straight into it and died. I shouldn't have gone for the gold the guy dropped.

When I earned this badge, it took me almost 2.5 hours to get. At least it didn't take as long as Rogue Fable III, where it took me over 4 hours. But at the very least, both of these games are not like Raid Heroes: Total War, where it took me about 8 hours to get an EASY BOTD. Yes, that game is easy, but it still took 8 hours of grinding to get it. At least these games have a challenge while you spend hours trying to get MEDIUM BOTDs.

"Your character was killed by a blood in the arcane tower" …guess the dungeon is located in compton, the more you know!

when it comes to crowd control and nothing else, then the storm mage is the best option. a ranged starter weapon which gives large chains damage to everyone in an area (when in water). all their spells affect multiple people and one of them stuns. problem with them is that they're squishy and it would take a lot of skill points into fortitude to make yourself more tanky. if you don't want that then try the barbarian, who starts with an axe which hits everyone around you. it is very good and you're quite hard to kill... but your ranged options are limited, which is a big issue late game.

You know how when the fake walls fall down the enemys on the other side get to attack first. One fell next to me, filled to the brim with fire mages. all shot me before i could even move. i died.

Got lucky with a warrior run, where early on I found a book of rage and invested my skill points on melee and fortitude

it's not a bad game but not having a save point really blows, you die way too easily, so far i've only made it to floor 6. after 30 tries, i'm done

AT THE FINAL LEVEL I SOFTLOCKED MYSELF BY USING SCROLL OF BLINK TO GO THROUGH A GATE! UGHHGHGHHGHGHGHHGH. KILLED MYSELF THROUGH DAMNED HUNGER... (must have pressed space 1000 times...)

Of course... I found a way to softlock myself. I used a SCROLL OF BLINK TO GET THROUGH A GATE! Then there was no way out. *sigh*

Got upset when new loot (weapons) just disappeared because of the full inventory, and using up projectiles to free space didn't change anything. But when talking to the merchant I suddenly noticed those weapons in my selling inventory! Saving the game and opening it again brought the items into view and made them accessible! :)
