Have beaten the game with three characters so far; necro, ranger, and most recently warrior... starting to get the hang of it, but really wish status effects like Infectious Disease, Slow, Poison and such had colored icons, and more detailed effect info, it's really hard to gauge how bad your situation is sometimes before it's too late. This has gotten me while stacked quite a few times, as one to two turns of not noticing a status effect will destroy you. It took me forever to realize 'Slow' stops diagonal movement.

slow prevents diagonal movement. this makes it possible to get an effectively infinite amount of ranged attacks off with enough space.

It is seriously nasty that your mage lacks resistance to his own element, they ironically are at their weakest in the places where their elements rule, as there will have many enemies resistant to their powers, but the enemies will have their skills unhindered.

Why doesn't 'slow' work on enemies? I get hit with slow and I am bogged down in the same spot but my enemies never seem to miss a step or if they do it is over several turns. Even at really high levels slow seems to have no real effect.

When you hit yourself with your own greater staff of poison (e.g. because the crystal golem reflected the shot at you), you cannot cure it, even with the health potion, even though the potion claims to remove any physical effects and does indeed remove other types of poison. That is a bug unless the staff's poison is considered a spell and should be removed with a mana potion, which I did not have a chance to test because I had Toxic power 67 so I died very quickly.

Bug: Went to the bottom of a lava filled dungeon, at it's heart, all of the Treasure is unreachable on the other side of a pool of magma.

You should introduce a mechanic were we can keep at least one item for our next character. Starting from scratch every single time gives small incentive to play again.

One side effect of a really challenging game: When I got the goblet of yendor the first time with my warrior, he was so ridiculously powerful he could have tanked 100 more enemies easily ...

f... this game...
pick hunter get only mana and mage stuff
pick mage get only warrior/barb stuff and hunter books
pick warrior get only mana stuff
constantly getting shitloads of mobs around me, even if i try to explore safely they have alot more speed (wasps/bees) and not even with sprint and teleport i manage to get away.

4/5 no food all the time, diying from starvation or either getting 1 shot from mega mob that is 10 times more powerfull than everything else (can kill 4/5 mobs with no problem)

Was about to die after being ambushed by a large group. Stepped into a teleport trap and ended up in an empty room, safe from harm. First time for everything, LOL!

Fun game. The difficulty is out of whack with contemporary expectations but assuming that's intended, it could just be a design choice.

Lol, it's funny reading the comments. The game is difficult, but how are you guys having trouble reaching level 6? It took me forever to beat this the first time, now I can beat it just about every run. It helps to slow down. A version of this is on Steam for $5 with a lot more features. I am really enjoying this version which is a great, complete game and is being called just a demo, so I'm going to buy the Steam version tonight when I have time to play. Great game, Dev dude!

I was told, to reach level 6, "use any effort at all". No, this game is BS. Maybe you get drops. Maybe you don't. Mostly you don't. I found my best groove on Enchanter, and still only got to level 4 dozens of times in a row. Warrior no. If you have to be right on top of someone to hit them, it's not going to work to level 6. This is just not my kind of game at all. Game records say I died 94 times, which possibly doesn't count attempts made earlier in the year when the 2018 quest was first listed. I persevered - the quest said April 16, but the banner was up until yesterday! I finally, after days and days and days of trying as my best prospect, enchanter, I got to level 5, then 6, then even 7 before I was killed. I still had to finish Choppy Orc, but couldn't time level 7, so did not complete the quest, and missed my kongpanion :'(.

For the people crying about the medium badge use the warrior it takes 20 mins.... Quit playing the mages as those are for people who are actually good at the game not new people who think leveling to 6 is hard or completing the game is impossible.

Awesome roguelike! The graphics are actually quite well-done, and there was a solid variety of items. I think that some of the best suggestions are already in the top comments, such as duplicate tomes giving an extra talent or skill point. Overall very enjoyable, I had to try at least 15 times to actually beat it! Keep it up! Next edition I recommend a wider variety of items and monsters, possibly the ability to hire companions, and a wider selection of spells for each spell type.

I finally got to level 6 after 4 hours and 15 minutes with the enchanter! I invested in mana and confused enemies, but an ogre on floor 6 was too strong. I'll never beat the game though and I won't try. I've got more games to play. If it already took me so long to get the medium badge, which should have been a hard badge, I don't wanna know how long it's going to take to beat the game and get the hard badge, which should have been an impossible badge. In comparison, I beat Choppy Orc in half an hour and that's also a medium badge...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
For the love of God, why is the medium badge so difficult? I'm playing for 3.5 hours already. Medium badges are supposed to take an hour at most. The enemies become so strong and the 5% damage increase per skill doesn't do anything if the damage is so low, so it's wasted for a long time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
just used a random teleport on last floor since i had five left and first try i land next to the goblet so i didnt have to fight anything on last floor

Initially played it for the badges. Now I can't stop playing. The difficulty makes for fantastic replayability! So depressing when I have good items and die, though :D

I was enjoying playing this, but suddenly clicking on my track pad doesn't work with this game. It works with every other app, but with this game I have to click 10 or 12 times in order for the click to work. It makes playing ranged weapons nearly impossible.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I can't even get the medium badge after 2.5 hours of playing. It should be a hard badge and the hard badge should be an impossible badge.

Yet another reason to dislike this game. I'm on the final floor of a side quest -- the Ice Caverns. Suddenly, I'm dead. What happened? I feel into a pit, and since it's the final floor, you die. Basically, it's Justin laughing at you -- stupid player, you walked on top of a pit trap that no one can see completely at random and now your character is dead and you just wasted all that time playing! Fool! Really ticks me off... What is the point of that? Trying to drive people away and generate some really powerful ill will in the playerbase?

@Artemis_Fowl_2nd I know what the staff does, but I still feel it's the weakest one. I've beaten the game multiple times with every class, and I've found Ice Mage to be the weakest, but you may disagree.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@inonimus the staff of ice inflicts slow, this means they cannot move diagonal. with this and enough space it becomes impossible for a melee enemy to damage you at all. the ice staff is plenty powerful.

This game goes to easy, to being ambushed by 4 guys at once on the 2nd floor and always losing. Big difficulty spikes out of nowhere
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
wow that is a difficult game to finish. The best way I've found is to use a necromancer and put skills into focus for mana summon skeleton for damage and protection. Get a point in cannibalize at level 8. That build is really powerful without having to depend on the right weapon drops for damage.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Took me 15 tries. Did one each of type and then a second of Warrior and Barbarian to see (they kept starving!). But I worked best with Necromancer and after a few more turns I got to floor 12 and then got the goblet on the next go. I think there's a little bit of luck and a decent wedge of strategy, for me this was lots of mana points and skeletons, plus use of convert scroll for priests or similar was helpful. Went into last room with a few confusion and as much heath potion and mana potion as a could as their range was better so it was too difficult to run away. Just keep spawning skeletons. Fun game.

Completed with all the martial classes now. Excellent and challenging game. Most of the time, when i die, it's a silly death from misjudgement. Disagree with anyone who says this game is too hard.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm starting to regard the Barbarian as no longer the worst class. Open maps with multiple archers and spellcasters, they're toast without the right charms or wands, but the Fire Mage is acutally the worst. Already unable to take much abuse, their spells are pretty bad. No crowd-control whatsoever, while the others get Confusion, Freezing Cloud, and Shock. Inferno Orb everyone just dodges.

I love this game! I've been playing the living daylight out of it for months now, just one question, why do the mummy priests have a Donald Trump hairdo? :p
(now you can't unsee it, can you?)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
OK, I just won the game on my 9th try, 4th with necromancer. Did it with beefed up MP and an army of skeletons. Good to have cannibalism, and as many scrolls, potions, and other tricks as possible for the last few levels. Also lucked out and found a vampyric war hammer.

That spawner tip just wastes time. You now gain all the exp you would've gained by waiting for the spawns upon destroying the spawner sooner.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Another tip I just thought of: Don't kill enemy "spawners" (like rat nests, kennels, etc.), get more experience by killing all enemies spawned. The "spawner" will destroy itself (and give you even more experience) after some 5 spawns.

Finally! Used a Ranger, with:
Talents: 3/3 Evasive, 3/3 Ranged Mastery, Sprint, 3/3 Power shot.
Skills: Stealth 15, Ranged 5.
Relevant inventory: Short bow +4, Confusion charm +4, Helm of Telepathy.
Hints:
- Confusion charm on clusters of enemies (let them go at each other).
- Keep high-level missiles like javelins or chakrams and do a power-shot on towers, ballistas, etc (you can get close enough with the Stealth skill).
- Use Sprint to keep the enemy at distance and try to maneuver them to unstable terrain.
- Use stairs to take one enemy at a time and cool down Power Shot.
- Buy all the meat you can.
