terrible game, worse than fable 3, here you have to try the game till you have a very fortunate run, note the seed and play it again hoping to win with all classes...and finish a run in less than 60 min is really impossible
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hey dev, I don't know how to contact you so I'm just using this. me and my friend have an argument: is going into the comments to find OP seeds cheating/against the intended play style?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
While I enjoy idea of the game and work you done impress me I have to say the balance is worse than terrible. What's the point of invest my time into game where I can be F* up by bad luck without single chance to counter it? I just played for 20 min just to enter new level as enchanter. I was immedietly spotted by groups of centaurs that delted me within 2 rounds. I finished game multiple times and while situation where I enter new dungeon and immedietly know "this is the end no matter what I do" is rare, have to admit, it's still annoying and impact whole feeling about game

TwoWolves80: regarding your stairs comment, I am pretty sure that I simply used "s" just like I did in the prior game. I hope this helps.

an ambush just opened but there were just skeletons inside with a note "I don't care how long it takes! you three are going to stay in here until that damn thief shows up!" it killed me to read that note... Literally, there were 2 hasted elite archers (and one reg archer) chasing me, and it took 1 turn to read the note whom promptly murdered me afterwards

@improbable it will probably be better if you send screenshots in discord. hard to figure out what is wrong with your run. All i can say is make sure you 100% explore the dungeon. Sometimes the stairs are behind the glyph doors. Use the keyboard shortcut to auto-explore.

More shtako. Mages' starting staffs have a range of four, Four squares away is an enemy. "Not in range." Three squares and one diagonal is four. "Not in range." Not only that the Fire mage's starting damage is less by far than the storm mage (or electricity is more damaging). Two hits takes care of most enemies with a storm mage. With a fire mage, you'll be there blasting all day to kill an enemy.
Another thing: once you start hitting an enemy with multiple enemies around, you're "locked" to that enemy. Trying to switch to another doesn't work; you'll just keep hitting the first enemy until its dead. The litmus test is the level number I can reach versus III. I can barely make it to the third level on 4, and it has nothing to do with skill, but is entirely the fault of the awkward control scheme and UI, and all the other mentioned "quirks."
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
UI is terrible. Should have left it looking like 3. The need to now have a separate button for descending/ascending stairs is awkward and not comfortable to use. Requiring an intelligence of 12 to use shock when it could be used as soon as you got in 3 is a major turn off. Not being able to simply click on monsters to use your primary weapon is also cumbersome and uncomfortable to game with.
Put the UI of 3 into 4, and you'd have something. One star.

@jascaicps1 I am in the main dungeon but I can't find a way to the side dungeons. I've gone all the way up and down the dungeon but I can't find a path and am stuck.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@improbable it looks like you went into the side dungeon. There are 3 mini-bosses, 1 rune each. Two of them will appear in the side dungeons and 1 will be at the end of the main dungeon. Think of the dungeon as an upside down tree. It looks like you went into one of the branches. just climb up and go continue down the main dungeon. Since you killed one of the minibosses and have a rune, you can decide if you want to kill the miniboss before the vault or run past it.

I finally made it to the Palace of Flames, cleared the first room and picked up the Rune of Flames. The problem is that I can't find a way to the second room or use the rune. Am I missing something?

Hej, reload doesn't work for me. I think badges are too hard, should be 30 for finishing and 60 4 times in a row. There should be more usefull items and less potions.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Btw you can reset stuff by reloading and thus getting back to the previous lvl stairs. So if you fail to reach a timed door, reload and go there right away; if you have 3 crystal chests, change floor 1st then test all 3; if you want to use a a scroll of acquirement, 1st change floors and then try what would be good (books or charms can be different). Especially if you know, you would die, just reload (and hold on to Ring of Life Saving by reloading). This game is too hard to not use this trick.
If you find extra gold or XP rings, don't pick up stuff right away, but only after you cleared the floor without wearing those rings, then switch.
Food is not an issue, but you can even wait a while and lose some hp every few steps, before you use food, so you dont need to rush through.
Invest a point or 2 into Dexterity for more speed points, to get out of trouble. Anyone can use speed points for free movement (hold shift to use speed points), which will not end your turn.

Ok, this is quite different. I loved the last game, and having fun with the new one. Keep up the good work Justin! As always, strafe attack FTW. :)

My powerful warrior killed all the monsters in the path with ease. His end is fell to his death during the fight against Vendor....

Neat combo: I Dominated a Regenerating Ogre Cheff. Then used the Flute to summon rats which, when killed, boosted the Cheff's range damage. I think he was up to 54 damage when I stupidly stepped in his firing line...

Where this fails over the other rogue fables: Death records. Players dislike seeing how many times they've died/failed. No one likes that, it's demoralizing and wrong.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@FrostPaladin - yes the support units like shaman and priest are annoying. You should focus killing them first if you are unable to kill the enemy in 1 hit. If you're having a hard time as a melee, either run past the enemy and kill the shaman/priest or retreat and find something to run around and then run at the shaman or priest. And remember to strafe run at shaman/priest (run zig-zag relative to the target for bonus 20% strafe evasion).
@HalfSheardSheep - I would suggest you play the game slowly as it is a turn-based game. It would probably help if you watch a yt tutorial - not sure why the developer wouldn't have at least have a training mode to show case how certain mechanic works. E.g. Speed points, strafe dodge, element interactions.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This isa step down from previous games. There are too many buffed caster enemies that will slaughter you if you are ambushed while already in combat. Ice Statues that summon and slow are not fair. Too many encounters can come up that are auto death, especially for a melee. Duelist is a cool class, but is dead if slowed, since EVERY ability is now dead. Enemies hitting you on stairs is a bad idea, since running is now even harder.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've tried quite a few times already, and there's just no way that beating the first dungeon is an easy achievement. This game is super RNG based, which you'd think would make it interesting, but dying to random bullshit just makes it super boring.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@elovas, it's because Kongregate off-loaded the badge making to the devs who are making it so you have to play the game a lot longer to get easy badges than should be necessary by making easy badges what used to be medium badges.

BOTD tip: Opened the door to the final stairs of upper dungeon. Totally overwhelemed by enemies. Led them away from stairs and used what I thought was useless teleportation scroll just before dying and was able to sneak back to stairs without having to kill them.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I assume the game world is supposed to be a pitch-black void that can't be navigated. Otherwise, one might think the game was horribly bugged out and unplayable.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why are the badges getting harder and harder since the site is under new management? What would have normally been a hard badge is now a medium and the hard badge is just as impossible as the last one.
This site is circling the drain.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This botd is down to pure random luck, I had to ask for help before I eventually got it after about a dozen runs. Anyone who thought this was easy was just extremely lucky they got a good run
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Vovilla: I totally agree. I wasn't able to beat the badge until I watched the tutorial video a second time. In that video it is difficult to understand what he says as he talks quickly and doesn't enunciate. In addition, he assumes that we can follow his quick movements and register everything while he misses explaining some parts. So I had to replay the video multiple times, in some sections. But once I got through it, I not only won the badge but got through the first 8 levels in one try. FYI: the main reason why I had done poorly was not using the sprint. It truly helped save me. I played Ranger as I prefer to attack from a distance and have more straight-forward abilities. Good luck! This is the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM0o3oD7fNA
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@vovillia Best advice I can give is you take it slow down, it is turn-based not real-time. There's a reason why the hard badge is called 'no time to think'.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Spirala how'd you get the seeded game to work? It doesn't want to do anything for me. do you need to type something in or what?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
After 85min fighting, "your Level 15 Necromancer was killed by a demotaur in the vault of Yendor".
Total 300+min in this game, not even meet the final boss, I fcking suck :(

The overhaul of stealth has really ham stringed the rogue class. With critical damage being fairly weak, and the abilty to improve it being a duelist skill, it's really hard to get any real damage in. And I can't tell where enemies can detect me unlike previous games so stealth is much less useful.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The duelist step back skill is useful for strafing. You get a free attack in for one movement point. At higher levels with lunge you can chain together attacks while maintaining mobility.
