Currently transitioning to HTTPS & probably a new server. Site down for now, but can be reached at https://etg.dek.im:13602 (Kong doesn't seem to like the explicit port)
Technically it should work just fine by going to https://etg.dek.im on your phone, it works in mobile browsers. But the interface is not optimized for mobile yet. This is in the roadmap.

The problem I see with the game UI is that it's too cluttered and chaotic. Maybe look at the original's GUI and make one similar to that?
Yes, the UI needs an overhaul. This is very much designed and developed mostly by programmers, not designers. We are working on this in the next coming months.
Which browser are you using? IE is not supported, nor are any browsers which don't support websockets http://caniuse.com/#feat=websockets . Does it work at http://etg.dek.im ?

For those, who didn`t know: openetg is a remake of the Kong-Game "Elements" with some differences. The community of the game created it, when the original developer of Elements vanished. The "real" openetg- game can be found here, with options to play with a new nickname (or without)

Gratulation to the Kong version, but I don`t want to restart ;)

Im guessing your target players are only people who played the original game? I never played it and there is no tutorial or any help at all so i have no idea what is this game about or how to play it. Moving on without rating it i guess.
I've never been good with designing UI. This project has mostly existed for the original community for the past 2.5 years. Sorry if the gameplay came off as opaque, the interface has always been a low priority unfortunately
There was a bit of work on a tutorial by Chapuz. On screens where there's a ? icon, the player can click those to pop up overlays explaining the view their on. Chapuz also wrote a tutorial which can be found at http://etg.dek.im/forum/index.php?topic=267 which is linked to on the login page of the original, which the Kong version skips past
