Guys how do i Publish I click File and all that comes up is..

I got the ship class error too. The fix for me was that my flash file was not saved to the same directory that the Ship.as file was saved. Hope this helps.

To all the Flash CS3 whiners, you have two options:
1) Download the demo, and be able to use it for only 30 days.
2) Purchase the full version.
3) Find a hacked copy.
If you don't know where/how to get a hacked version, don't ask.

great tuto, love the idea of tryin to help everyone with some first steps, but u shoulda explain inheritance, specially since u use 2 functions from MovieClip

Wow, I must say, this is pretty impressive. I did not read the whole thing, however. If you teach how to write in flash and Javascript, that would really show that you want people to make games.

I really appreciate this kind of tutorial here on Kongregate. I hope it gets a lot more people making games. Perhaps adding a quiz element might make it more interactive?

I am stuck on page 9 when you test movie for the first time. I have done this about 4 times now to verify I have done everything correctly, but I still end up with an error on that step. The error says: "Symbol=Ship, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 1" under Location and "The class or interface'Ship' could not be loaded." under description.
As I said, I have started over from scratch a few times and this is still doing the same thing. I have checked and rechecked that I did each set verbatim and nothing helps.
Any help would be appreciated.

While this is good, it would be better if they were all released at once instead of two every week, by then Gears 2 and Fable 2 will have come out and I wont want to make a game =\

These shootorials are a very interesting initiative, and well executed.
Yet I regret it's AS2 instead of AS3; it would have been nice to teach AS3 directly to wannabe-flash-game-coders.

I've been wondering what kinda code ActionScript needs... pretty simple looking... Cant tell how it differs from C++ Hehe, I've been just too lazy to look for actionscript tutorials, but seems the fate has led one to me.
Good job, really. I got to say I have readen dozens of worse tutorials (not about flash but well, tutorials overally.) So believe me when I say this is good stuff.
Some minor downsides also, but overally good tut. 4/5
Could you do somekinda appendix also? I mean, to fully describe the key functions, special functions ect?

hawk you cam get a copy of cs3 for a free 30 day trial from the adobe flash website
and idk about cs4 i think there is no trial for it.
If you want to buy cs3 its for around $600 off adobe and I have no clue about cs4
