I think that there are many more than ones way to make a screenscroll like this... But I am not the über coder here, and this method works well.

Anyone past number 2 or know how I can find out the value of Ship.x? I want to try to do the bullet myself, but I don't know what values to create it at, based on where my ship is.

Me neither. It scrolls to the second one. Then to the end of that one, at which point it jumps back to the middle of the second one. :(

Why cant i do the background?? i try to convert and the error... You must specify a unique identifier to export or import this symbol... HELP!!

It's not that complicated, actually the best flash tutorial I've read so far. Never could really understand tutorials. Even a caveman could do it.

I am wondering, though: does it make your game faster to have the code in a separate class file rather than in your main program?

This is a great idea. I'm already taking a programming class in flash, but this is definitely just what I need to point me in the right direction.
