I am wondering, though: does it make your game faster to have the code in a separate class file rather than in your main program?

Well I got it by setting _x = 4220; Which doesn't make sense, since that should send it 4220 pixels in front of my ship, but oh well, it's working so I'll work on figuring that out later.

i have this error as well Symbol=Background, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 1 The class or interface 'Background' could not be loaded. i wonder if its becos my background file is jpeg.if so how do i change it to png? thanks

AWESOME!!!! finally got my background scrolling by changing all of its names to bg1 and saving as a .PNG file to start with!! now for Shootorial #3 5/5

I have the same problem as lareeh. Does anyone know why it keeps saying "symbol=Background, layer = layer1,frame=1,line 1 The class or interface 'Backround' could not be loaded"?

what is up with you guys saying "what do we do on this game???" Well, first of all IT'S NOT A GAME!!! IT IS A TUTORIAL FOR PEOPLE WITH FLASH PLAYER TO DEVELOP A GAME! Secondly, I have issues of my own on this thing... I put the whole link to loop the bg... it doesn't work... i did everything right but that... AND i can't move my ship anymore...HELP ME!

HALP? My background scrolls just fine, but theres this dreaded big white space after the second go that everyone is talking about. I've tried a few of the suggestions and none of them have worked. My code is class Background extends MovieClip

I created my own background image and I have no clue how long it is... if someone could message me on a way to find out it would be greatly appreciated. I am using CS5. I used to know how to find it in CS3....
