Description
As an Alchemical Engineer, you must build machines out of mechanical arms and magical glyphs that transform and combine atoms in order to create the compounds required for each level.
How to Play
Instructions can be found in-game. Look to the bottom of the screen for context-sensitive hints as you mouse over things.
Developer Updates
Update (1.05): Added additional checking to loading in saved design.
Update (1.04): As far as I can tell, this should fix the lag bug. I tested it with Flash running at low thread priority, all of my CPUs maxed out to 100% usage, and was able to build the Elixir of Life and Black Powder without a single glitch.
Update (1.03): I fixed a bug where a multi-atom compound would sometimes rotate randomly when held by multiple manipulators. Iโve also added a 15th level (itโs hard!) and slightly increased the speed of the simulation.
Update (1.02): Iโve revised the help pages and added them to pop-up at the beginning of the game so people can find them easier.
If youโre still lost, though, consider watching this tutorial video by MrRubix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPqUQtfe9-4
Update (1.01): Iโve added two efficiency achievements, minimum cycles and minimum symbols, for each level. Itโs optimizing time!

This right here is as beautiful a game as you are going to find on this site. But only if you are willing to stick to it and got the brains for it as well. Watching a successful mechanism work is so satisfying. :)

Minor suggestion:
Clicking symbols adds them to the end of the program. This would save you having to drag everything.

i had it perfectly figured out. all the manipulators were in their spots, the glyphs were in position, the program was perfectly synched. then i realized that the molecules were not in the correct order.

Love this. A brilliant sort of puzzle/coding idea. Also, because I know that people tend to overlook this, I have to say that the soundtrack is BRILLIANT! Every bit matches the simple little industrial/alchemical theme perfectly. Brilliant job with that. This is definitely a 5/5 from me, as well as a fave. As a tip to those playing: I hope this goes without saying, but if you want to keep your machines running efficiently, the proportions between the lengths of the programming for each part should have ratios of powers of two. If you didn't understand that, if one of your manipulators is 18 cycles in length, the only other length there should be is 9. If you have one that has 8 cycles of programming, you can also have manipulators with 4 cycles and 16 cycles (you could also have 2 cycles, but that couldn't actually do anything since opening and closing is already 2)

this game is 3% figuring out what needs to be done, 17% figuring out how to do it, 80% ironing out the kinks
