Need a double jump for Much Epickness. Also, meele combos to buy would be nice. Otherwise? Perfect. With some bad-ass music in background (DMC OST XD) it's wicked crazy!
Now go slash these slimes!

Bouncing off of enemies/targets is extremely unforgiving. As a result level 17 is maddeningly frustrating compared to the rest of the game. Having to press three buttons to do it is bad enough however it doesn't react the same every time. Some times I can bounce extremely high other times nearly no lift at all. Please revisit this game mechanic. I have been dreading the level where it became a necessity.

Matt with a staff? I think the world ended when this was released.
My strategy: Full mage gear, spam Seiken on strong stuff. If aimed properly, it makes quick work of those splitting boxes in the volcano.
Pros: Excellent music (but expected from the musical genius on your side). Well balanced difficulty. Configurable controls. Cute art style fits the whimsical feel+scales down characters to genre-appropriate size. Also, this one's family friendly (though that may disappoint some).
Cons: No dialogue = not much plot. Prolly not canonical to the EBF series.
Side notes: Poor Natalie. Demoted from mage backup to damsel in distress. From level select, push ESC to return to main menu; from there, ESC takes you back to the preloader.
Bottom line: Of course, EBF3 was far better, but given the project's large scale it could be his magnum opus if he stops (I hope not!). Still, this’s a fun game in its own right. Definitely worth playing, and the 5/5. Keep at it; anything you make is gold.

White text on a white background is hard for some of us to read, even when outlined in black. Please consider making signs more accessible in the future.

The best item equip that I experimented and yield the best results is Ninja Hood, Viking Armor(Ninja Gear for Foe Rush for safe poking), Mana Staff and mainly using Heal, Temper, and Ice(mainly for Foe Rush). It's a strange melee-magic combo but it allows you to constantly recover MP for keeping Temper active and Heal spam. This can tank (yes, constantly get hit by any source of damage) the entire Boss Rush in hard mode and all but the last one in epic providing that you are constantly spamming jump attack, keeping Temper on, and healing.

When the cat disappeared I said to myself, well there goes what could be the best game ever, Pirate man and kitty kat together forever, killing bushes, slicing slimes, slaughtering random pieces of nature. Sadly that won't happen, but still nice game!

I went through pretty much the entire game with Ninja Hood+Pirate Jacket+Cutlass equipped, and was going through heck in Level 19 and the bosses (by themselves, not the rush). I really should have experimented more, because Knight Helm+Knight Armor+Mana Staff is an epic combo, which I only first tried on Level 20. You get a high HP buffer, plus one MP just for whacking some enemies a few times. It made the final boss a joke compared to my previous strategy.

I liked the aesthetic and the music, but the controls never felt intuitive to me, and I didn't feel like taking the time to master them.

Best sword: Mana Staff (it's a staff, not really a sword). With that you can cast heal every time! If you know how to play, with this staff you can't die, no matter what you're fighting.

Boss rush strategy:
Needed: level 3 heal and bolt
Equips: staff, magic hat, ninja armour
Using magic staff as weapon replenishes your mana
Heal when needed, use bolt to nuke enemies.
Using this strategy assures that you do not die. Always keep some mana for emergencies to heal

Okay, to get rid of confusion, let me get this straight. When you complete a level with all chests opened and all 100 coins collected, you get a star on the level in the menu. When you complete a level on a certain difficulty, it will show a certain letter atop the star (if you got it). E = easy, N = Normal, H = Hard, S = Epic.

Wow, I hadn't noticed that the intro sequence uses whatever equips you currently have active. Now THAT'S attention to detail. Congratulations, you have delivered yet another top-notch game. Keep up the good work.

For those having trouble getting past the first boss, when the clue talks about 'projectiles can be thrown back towards the enemy', this is a hint that the bombs can be deflected towards the boss.
