Under rating threshold (show) While this game was super fun at first, as you progress it becomes very bland. You colonize planets, auto suppress and set them to 70%ish harvest rate, and then focus on killing swarms. After a few minutes of that, you look around and realize a planet or two is bad, so you retry them. It ends up being a constant fight between "Where did you come from", "Why didn't that kill you?" "What happened to you?" and "Where did you go?"

Under rating threshold (show) Two more bugs/oversights: One, you can see the climate type of a planet in the planet list, even if the planet has not been explored. Two, if you use the global settings to apply harvest/supress to all planets, then it will apply to planets that are not explored yet. This is important in cases where life spontaneously generates on unexplored planets. These are minor things; amazing game.

Under rating threshold (show) In late game, if you invest heavily into weapons and capacity, you can harvest locust swarms using the battle harvester! It will probably cost around 250 biomass but return like 280 biomass. Way cheaper than using the deathray.

Under rating threshold (show) Surviving Hive on hard is easy, when you understand the game. (1) You are expected to develop both the economy and technology fast enough. Keep in mind that your planets are different animals. Big planets are good as a source of income, while small planets are good as a source of tech points. Planets with sizes 2.0 and above are sacred cows: wait until technology level 3.0 - 3.6, harvest ALL biomass and seed the planet anew. Planets with sizes 1.9 and less are sacrificial lambs: allow them to reach advanced technology levels, then kill them to get tech points. (2) In the endgame your economy must be strong, but unless you've got the Interstellar Deathray, you are doomed. Better to obtain the Deathray early than not to get it late. The only essential military upgrades are a Cruiser in the mid game and the Interstellar Deathray in the endgame. Otherwise, you benefit more from investments in the economy, rather than in the military. (3) Prepare for a long, careful game, and have fun!

Under rating threshold (show) @hyog: Only seed planets within ~50% of our range the fight swarms. At tech ~3.8 harvest the planet to a few %, then at 4.0 send a fighter for tech-pts (tp). Once 4 isn't enough for tp, harvest all at ~3.8 and reseed planets and buy tp as it's cheaper and less trouble. Make good use of terraformers. Hope this helps :)

Under rating threshold (show) Please change the asteroid event. Instead of destroying the planet it should just change the hability to -1.0 . It's extremely annoying having to wait for the planet to randomly respawn to complete the mission. Or / And implement a ship to increase planet-size, which makes a small planet out of an asteroidbelt. Thx

Under rating threshold (show) Great game, reminds me a little of "Master of Orion", you have to be 35+ to know this one :) . 5/5 , but pls add an option to adjust font-size of planet-infos (you can zoom out before scouting but it's lost after reload) and add info about the environment (hot, cold, ...) in the planet-list. Keep up the good work :)

Under rating threshold (show) No matter what the harvest capacity is, battle harvesters only seem to gather ~100 from swarms. As it stands there is no point sending a battle harvester when compared to any attack ship, I would like to profit from what seems like a tactical move.

+ - !

(7)

Developer response from levelrusso

Swarm harvesting with positive outcome will totally ruin the game economics at the endgame (you wont need any planet since you have swarms). So now it is just a way to get some cash back from your attacks. You can increase amount of collected biomass by upgrading firepower. It could even be a little profitable under some conditions.

Under rating threshold (show) Nice game 3/5 it could be much better with better speed management (x4 is nice but high-tech civs, catastrophies and locust are coming up way to fast). Also it woulod be much more playable if the pop-up info wasn't taking up half of the screen - it's bad enough in the main window, but it makes the planet window unusable because I can't scroll down unless I spend a good three minutes closing pop-ups, and the extra tech window is pretty much invisible.

Under rating threshold (show) +1 to PatKDay. In my opinion this game involves too much micro-management. A more interactive/informative planet list screen would definately help (options to set all/selected to autohaverst 5.0, for example). Setting auto defense on "capital" is really needed too. However, this game is one of the best games I've seen lately and it's original, so I gave it a 5/5.

Under rating threshold (show) This game has a lot of potential, but it's lacking in a number of ways. First, the level of precision control just isn't there. I want the ability to select multiple planets and set system wide defaults (such as the auto harvest or suppress %). Second, the information provide is weak. I want more details in the mini-map such as planet color-coding. Third, I need some way to setup up proactive defense around the HQ and planets. Finally, the atrophy is just too high from negative events (which greatly out number the positive events). It seems like the system falls part faster than I can complete the objectives specifically on the hard setting. I really like the concept, but currently the game is a 3/5.

Under rating threshold (show) Can I set it to alert me when a planet reaches 3.0 or 3.5 instead of 4.0? If it's 4.0, you have to attack it, which wastes tons of biomass and risks destroying the planet. I prefer to harvest it all and reseed.

Under rating threshold (show) How do Locust Swarm grow in strength? Is it dependant on time, research points spent, total biomass collected or anything like that? I've finished the campaign and Im trying to re-beat Black Hole, now in Medium. Under rating threshold (show) would be nice if it started sending battle harvesters to advanced planets when it can. get's pretty tedious trying to fend off 5 locust swarms at a time while gaining no income due to the fact that you have to leave the planets alone because they need to be high enough in tech to gain anything from.
