For those who don't remember the olden days: press ~ and then type
god - Enables God Mode (invincibility)
fly - Enables Fly Mode
kill - Instant death
give S# - Gain # shells
give H# - Gain # health
give N# - Gain # nails
give R# - Gain # rockets
give C# - Gain # cells
give # - Get weapon #
noclip - Walk through walls. Repeat to turn off.
notarget - Monsters won't attack you unless provoked.
impulse 9 - All Weapons.
impulse 11 - Display runes (you don't actually get them)
impulse 13 - Silver key.
impulse 14 - Gold key.
impulse 255 Quad Damage.
map ExMy - Warp to episode X, mission Y
skill # - Sets difficulty level (# = 0-3)
sv_gravity -# - Reduces gravity by #%.

Granted the game is 14 years old its still pretty sweet that its in a flash version that runs smoothly as far as i can tell. Great for people who've never seen the game but if you've played it before I'd just download the actual game for the best experience.

People keep asking me for flash versions of other games. You don't understand, this is the freeware version of Quake, so I am allowed to port it and upload it to Kongregate. Other games, however, may not have a freeware version or be freeware, and I am not allowed to do anything with those games. That would be illegal.

Interesting how this runs so well on my crappy old computer when so many 2D games run slow and laggy as shit. For example, Elephant Quest was almost totally unplayable because of the horrible control lag.

Interesting things about quake, many games of today are distant mods/mods of the game in one way or another, like the source engine is a totally pimped out gold source engine which is totally pimped out quake engine. Very interesting to quake fans. proof V V V

Sweet! A flood of memories!! I remember all the quirks, like the typical exit signs in an inter-dimensional realm and the Nine Inch Nail nail gun ammo (Trent Reznor did the music and sound design).

press ~ and enter "god" for god mode, and "impulse 9" twice for all weapons and ammo. there's more cheats but these are really important. u hav to enter god mode at a new level.

A quick tip that really really helps: In the menu screen, go to options and select customize controls. From there, you can change how you view and look around from mouse controls (default) to (for instance) arrow keys for WASD players or vice versa. This overcomes the, I can't turn without my mouse falling off screen, complaint and can make game play a whole lot easier. ;)
Good point, and that's really the only way to do it, sorry guys. I can't get the mouse to lock the the viewport without doing a complete rework of the port, and that's not going to happen.

there is a secret difficulty that is called "nightmare". To reach it, enter to any portal (easy, medium or hard) and after go to the first portal that is in your right, you will see water. Try to charge to the right until you hit a platform (its quite difficult) and when you are in the platform just go to the portal, its insanely hard and hope this helps to those strategic good shooters.

to play in nightmare mode, u hav to go the episode 4, try to fall through the water and land on the beams, jump through the doorway and its there. Nightmare mode is so hard, it was hidden so people wouldn't go through it on accident.

those of u who want to do a secret level with little gravity go to level 4 (the one with all the water) and get inside the building and u will have to press 5 buttons. when u press those 5 buttons u will see 2 chutes open up on the walls. go down each one and u will see a button. press both of them. u will see some text saying a secret cave has opened. go back into the water and stay to the right of the water and u will see an open hole in the wall. go into the wall and head up. u will see a portal and it will end the level

Do any of you remember the old days of team fortress, for Quake, and the massive following that it recieved? If you do, I suggest finding a way to make this happen on Kongregate.... I would never stop playing on this site!!

a really good secret that grants u a secret lvl with little gravity: when u get to the 3rd or 4th(i cant remember) lvl just get to the end and come back to the building where u pressed the buttons to open the door... there will be ducts to the sides and u go down them and press these buttons that look like rune keys... when u press both of them,it will say "a secret cave has opened... when u see this go back to the water and swim to the right from the building (that u left from) when u see this u go inside this cave and up the opening up top and u will see a portal... go through it and it will end the lvl (rather than going through the arch gate) then u will play a secret lvl that will grant u a rocket launcher early :D
