Sorry for spamming so much, but I wanted to give a few tips. Red missiles are best for killing structures, the orange ones are inneffective. Upgrade "Missles" as soon as you can. Sticky missiles are powerful and do good with kickback for killing structures. Early on, you can use blue missiles with orange ones to make sure they hit. Use kickback's shockwave to get away. Keep moving.

Nice and fun game. Would be cool if there was some sort of secret unlock or just anything for beating the game. Cool songs maybe isn't your thing, but you can still make something awesome, but the whole game is cool and fast paced. It doesn't have to be 'good' for the player, just amusing and most importantly COOL. Let the player play as last boss, or smaller version of it, or something like that! That would be cool.

Loved it... grats. Coins should be slightly faster than ship, so it actually reaches you while you run from shots. At start i kept running from coins thinking it was enemy shots :)

Have you considered putting Nyos on Steam, or perhaps the iOS App Store? I would gladly fork over $5 for a game this excellent, especially if it meant I could play it anywhere, anytime, instead of only on Kongregate.
This game is actually very, very enjoyable! The target painting mechanic is fresh and awesome. I loved the upgrades, and the graphics and soundtrack seemed like they fit the theme of the game very well - the whole game had a certain binding aesthetic and there wasn't a single aspect that seemed out of place. Could have maybe used some more levels, but Infinity Mode fills that gap adequately. Would love to see a sequel or perhaps a port to Steam or iOS.
5/5, excellent game you've made here. :)

pretty nice game, i enjoy playing as boss :D but i kinda miss kinetic missiles, they are op but tricky. Just 2 things to point out: 1st) sometimes the physics can go crazy when enemies go over certain number making you a living pinball so you may consider a population limit or slowing spawns based on enemies on screen. 2nd) loving upgrades as much as i do, i fell like something is missing. Have you considered ugrades for each weapon instead of general upgrades? or adding more weapones so you can customize your ship a little more?
i will give 5/5 to encourage the improval of this already nice game as i see a lot of potential.
Thanks for the suggestions!
1) The living pinball effect is probably from the usage of kinetic missiles.
2) I do think weapon specific upgrades are a good idea, but I am too busy with other projects right now to update Nyos. Perhaps when those projects are finished, I will work on it. Updating Nyos is sadly a not a very high priority for me, since the game was released several months ago and doesn't receive as much attention now.

@Qwad35 Maybe you shouldn't judge a game by its tutorial. Play the game first. As for my review, I didn't see the sensitivity to be all that bad. It was more fast paced like this. The problem is not the level 1 difficulty spike, because I completed that easy. Level 2 was VERY difficult. They came in strong numbers and had far too much health. It really is a decent game though. 3/5

The coin drop rate is pretty perfect, you are maxed out without grinding by the last level. The balance, though, does seem a bit off. You don't really need to upgrade health because you start with so much of it, enemies to so little damage and regen is incredibly powerful. Once you have kinetic missiles, everything else is rather pointless - the splitter missiles are especially weak in comparison.
On the other hand, the game is really fun with the easy difficulty - an addictive diversion that seems perfect for an achievement game (such as using only weapon X, #of kills, time trials, etc.) Or... with more enemy types and wave patterns (and maybe weapons/options?) you'll have an awesome all-round arcade game where the kill-stuff difficulty is low, but timing and strategy matter. This game just has so much potential. Keep up the good work!

Nice and innovative game (due to the "lock on target" featuring as the primary attack). I would change only one thing: When a mission is completed, the action is still going on the background, it would be better if the game "paused" and background fades off, or slow motion + fading. It makes me wonder things like "did the coins I got after the "Mission Complete" screen count? What happens if I die on the background? probably nothing, but it's kind of strange. Congratulations for the good game and specially for the improvements added, we don't see lots of dedicated developers after the game is released.

Storyline: Here are some bad guys. Shoot them down because explosions are pretty. Graphics: Beautifully stylistic with a retro-arcade feel. Music: Catchy and fun to listen to. Gameplay: addictive, and somehow managed to make money grinding is fun. Could use a fullscreen mode, but going by it's current strengths, 5/5.

add challenge if possible like "finish the first level without being hit when you play the boss" or "do the last level with the missile only"
it will add a lifetime at your game because after 10 min i've finish it and playing with the boss is not really cool because the boss is too "big and slow"

The game is excellent and extremely interesting, but it would be nice if there was a square or something of the sort on the mini-map to display the viewing area so you know when enemies are going to reach you

very nice game, enjoyed it all the way through, I found the end boss to be quite funny to battle against when I first saw it, nice touch there.

How can I be expected to dodge a barrage of bullets, weave in and out of hoards of enemy ships, constantly swap between two weapon types that must be used in conjunction in order to cause any real threat to my enemies, all the while struggling with a firing system that hinders the user by disallowing manual targeting and substitutes it with an inferior homing AI; IF I CAN NOT SEE MORE THAN 10 FEET IN FRONT OF MYSELF !?!?

@Marmph: Thanks for paying attention to all of our whiny comments, and making the game better. I finally beat level 9, then the rest of the game was a cake-walk by comparison. :)

When I went up against the gun platforms level, I felt as if I wasn't doing enough damage, perhaps it was the enemies that got in the way of my missiles?

maybe something for when you upgrade everything? one thing many games do that I hate is when you get every upgrade, it just stops there. Something I would like is when you fully upgrade everything for the first time, some new upgrades become available?maybe you could unlock upgrades per level, so when you have everything and get to the final boss and just can't beat it, you would have some more REALLY EXPENSIVE (because it's so late in the game) upgrades that are really useful and help you along. That way, even people without a mouse could kill the final boss or finish missions. or maybe after you die enough times, something happens that makes the stage easier? I don't know, something along those lines.
Nice ideas, particularly per level upgrades; perhaps I will do this in a future game. I think that having really expensive upgrades to help with the final boss encourages too much grinding, however.

i would like to see a game with the orgin. it would be nice to know what and why killer space ships want you dead. (idea) maybe they are from a different dimention!

Couldn't hurt the weapons platforms and my stats are almost maxed! Add in the fact that the game keeps adding more of them makes me worry that this game is gonna crash my computer.

7 mother ships, 16 gun towers and 8 gates, and i still thought i hadda chance at surviving infinite mode.. well at least my upgrading fix is sated.

Awsome, simply awsome. This game is pretty cool. But I bet if you added onto it it could become one of the best out there. Until then, this gets a 5/5, and added to my favorites. Keep up the good work.

Easiest way I've found to kill the final boss so far is to just use the Splitter Missiles. Trick is though, don't target the last boss at all, only target his little baby targets. That way the missiles explode all around him and hit him with lots of split hits.

seems like an increase in Field of vision would be nice, the mini-map helps, But half of the enemy's attacks have much higher range than the FoV.
Intentional! The self damage is intended to be a balance mechanism. Early in development, the kinetic missile used to be able to kill the player with only 2-3 shots!

really enjoyed the game, only two things are i'm not sure what it means by 5X for the kinetic damage, and while very fun, it was hard to play on a laptop mousepad sometimes. That said this genre usually is and it was still playable

@K+: Not listening to comments would be bad. If the comments are constructive and point out real issues, it's always good for a dev to look into it and see if things can be improved. Of course, devs shouldn't be too bothered by comments that just go "This game suxs" :D

I've encountered a strange glitch where I'm suddenly outside of the arena and the camera starts freaking out. Any ideas?

Why so low a rating? This game is great!
Uniqueness: 5/5. The locking system is unlike any I have EVER seen.
Graphics: 5/5, being seamless and in style.
Music: 5/5. Fast, but still somehow calm, also fits the style.
Difficulty: 4.8/5. Learning curve is a little steep, but nowhere did I end up grinding a level.
Developer: 6/5, actually listens to comments and changes things!
Upgrades: 5/5. Minimalist upgrade systems work well in these fast paced shooters.
Playability: 5/5. The speed of the ship is fast, but still tightly controllable.
Overall: 5.5'ed and favorited. Seriously guys, why would you rate it down?

Quite amazing that you can mix both types of rockets by pressing spacebar while they are being launched. Can lead to some cool effects :) great game!

love it!! cheers for getting back to us about fixing the politically incorrect 'Spastic outside-the-boundary' bug ;D Playing as the last boss is epic, its not even a smaller version lol

Fine game overall. Finished it with little difficulty. Just a little nitpick thing but.. those "Kinetic" missiles do the exact opposite of what actual kinetic ammunition is designed to do (AKA pierce and impact damage, not... explode).

Nice and fun game, colorful and with nice and flashy graphics, simple, enjoyable, also nice music track, but a bit more songs would be appreciated
However there's a major gripe i have with the game, it's way too easy, especially with the kinetic missiles, I only died once cuz i kept bumping into the weapon platforms but that's around it
I thought the final boss was gonna be challenging but then i realized not so, though i did laugh
You have a nice sense of humor and i can see you really love the games you make, with a bit more challenge, variety and a bit more music, this game would've been perfect
But for now, it's pretty damn good, keep it up! 4/5
Also thanks for the cool points :D
