Under rating threshold (show) Wait a minute. There are 2 slots. 1 for bow and 1 for accessory/arrow. So if you have to have both taken with bow&arrow, then why is there a ring for increasing bow damage?

Under rating threshold (show) Goddamn, this game just starts falling apart near the end. I'm not even talking bout the poor balance in enemy hp or insanely overpowered poison, no, there's spots where you can go to a screen transition and end up inside an object on the other side and just phase through it. I was able to completely skip the last locked gate and also swim out of the map, crashing the game. Without even trying, I've also somehow skipped the entire last dungeon. Apparently there's a hidden teleport spot at the entrance that brings you straight to the end. It's on the bottom-right of the the T-shaped blocks, directly at the entrance by the computer, in case you're wondering.

Under rating threshold (show) What's going to die first: the enemy or my J key? Some enemies just have way too much HP. Even with a stronger weapon, it takes like ten hits at least sometimes, and all they do is slowly shamble towards you, get swatted back, and repeat. Gets a little tedious. Overall, it feels more like a foundation or a prototype of an RPG; just testing monsters and NPC/quests to make sure it all works before putting the real content in. It just lacks personality at the moment. The maps themselves are decent, though. Some more puzzles, treasures, and other stuff out in the field would be a huge improvement.

Under rating threshold (show) Serious balancing issues: it comes down to the leveling system. I was at level 78 when I beat the game. Strength was around 60 - and it was still taking a significant number of hits to take down some of the enemies. You can't really play around with different weapons - you have to pick one, at the beginning of the game, and stick with it through the whole thing, or you'll be drastically underpowered. It's not that the enemies are difficult - they either throw stuff at you or just go straight towards you. But when you're whacking away with a sword for four or five minutes a screen - and not being injured, really, just hitting the attack button over and over again - it gets really boring.

Under rating threshold (show) Things have seriously too much HP. That, or weapons are too weak and you do not feel like progressing at all, when you buy a new weapon and go to a new location, because monsters still can take like two dozen hits before they die.

Under rating threshold (show) "Kill Fifteen Yellow Crabs so the Bully will let you enter the cave." I'm averaging 120 dmg per hit and the crabs take me a ridiculous 18 hits. Unless "the Bully" has 33,000 hp, I'd rather just kill him and take the damn key.

Under rating threshold (show) The World: So, with all the trouble taken to emulate the action adventure games sired from Zelda, why is the game so linear? The main strength of these games is the open world exploration and the ability to go back and open new paths and areas. There is some reason to backtrack and explore, but only for very minor rewards. The other times, you may have to go back to old zones to progress, but really the way this is treated, you could have made the game a completely linear route with no backtracking and had the same effect. Additionally, to this end, it's obvious the game is scaled in such a fashion to slow down player progress as much as possible, because there just isn't any content to be had. Beat monsters, get stronger, find a new power (which doesn't really do much then to let you progress to the next zone) and do the same thing over and over in a loop.

Under rating threshold (show) (3) There are some enemies on the EDGE OF THE SCREEN so that when you move through a transition you are INSTANTLY HIT with NO CHANCE of avoiding it. Add the insane poison mechanic (see point 4) to the mix and it's just dumb. (4) Enemy poison is just an insanely broken mechanic that adds nothing but frustration to the game . Either make it weak just like player poison (with antidotes granting immunity to poison for x duration) or just scrap it altogether. (5) Skill point requirement for pushing and swimming. After going through a long dungeon and receiving a swimming manual you'd expect to be able to swim through the water just next to where you found it. Nope, you have to backtrack through the same boring dungeon and kill until you level up. Yet another frustrating and poorly-conceived mechanic.

Under rating threshold (show) There's a shell of an excellent game here, but balance problems abound in every aspect of the game, the side-quests are pointless due to their lack of meaningful reward, combat desperately needs an immunity timer after being hit, and the game ending with a blurb of text and solicitation is hardly worth venturing to the end to see. The series has excellent potential if the sequel carries with it some vast changes as well as an expanded combat system and enemy types. I'm eager to see it.

Under rating threshold (show) After getting the Swimming manual late in the game I went back to some caves dungeons to pick up stuff which was formerly out of reach. Results: 1 Antidote, 1 Small Health Potion and a completely obsolete weapon. There's also a questgiver south of the Mausoleum who gives you a quest that you can't finish until like 30 levels later. Again the reward is a crappy weapon. Side quests are a waste of time because the rewards suck and with enough cash you have access to every weapon in the game basically right from the start. Stupid.

Under rating threshold (show) Put all level up points into strength, and max student (20 points) right away. Next get a few points of gold up (you'll get stuck at a wall midgame and have to grind for gold to upgrade your weapon otherwise), and put the rest into whatever weapon you want to use, lastly putting into it's subskill. A fair warning: The game is much longer grind than the progress indicator will make you think early. All this game really needs most is to have every enemy have it's hp cut to 1/3 of it's original value and it would flow so much better.

Under rating threshold (show) The Loot: Here's a question, you have all this focus on grinding, but why are there no rare drops? It might make the Luck stat more useful, and also finding weapons off of monsters is a strong hook for an RPGesque system. Why bother having the shopping system in place if you can only get weapons from shops and chests? You might as well have had a window you could open to pay gold for upgrades like extra stat points.

Under rating threshold (show) There are numerous problems with the game you can easily find with just one playthrough. (1) Poison is hilariously weak compared to other elemental effects like fire and ice. Fire does 20% extra damage per hit and ice slows down enemies. Poison only does 5% extra damage every 0.5 seconds for 5 seconds and only works if you stop attacking. Make it stackable or AT LEAST TRIPLE its damage so that stopping and letting poison do its job is actually worth the time. (2) Quest rewards are often incredibly useless. Near the end of the game where you most probably have the ultimate 200+ damage weapons, one of the quests gives you a weapon that does 20-50 damage.

Under rating threshold (show) Tips. Skills max at 20, I'd suggest maxing xp bonus first. When you get the swimming and push skill manuals you have to spend a skill point, so I would suggest keeping a free point once you get into the dungeons that give them. Bows require ammo so keep a melee weapon on hand in case you run outa arrows.

Under rating threshold (show) The game is Zelda with RPG Elements (Leveling system), but the whole questing design is pretty flawed, and so are most of the weapons, "Kill 15 of x for y" e.g Kill 15 Tarantula for a 40-50 dmg weapon when they have around 2500 health? Sword is only the real way to go in this game, the dagger range is unreliable vs ranged enemies and the axe swings too slow against them too, especially the robots. Also the fact there is no "Dmg boosting" (invunerability frames after you take damage) is terrible, it's way too easy to get cornered in some parts of the map and unable to get out without dieing or taking almost all of your health. If theres a sequel I sincerely hope you guys get playtesters/better play testers.

Under rating threshold (show) Glitch to beat the game faster: At the top of pirate island, in the screen with the 2 green/yellow crabs, if you switch screens from left to right while holding up (a.k.a. w), you will pass through the rock barrier in the water. If you swim to the second tile from the very upper left screen in the game, (1,2) you will get to a room with 2 computer screens. The computer on the right saves you in Pandora’s cave, and the sealed off room to the left with the guy wearing purple is the final NPC in the game. If you get to a completely white screen, you have gone 2 screens too far to the left.

Under rating threshold (show) Monster variations: There are only three types of monsters, things that shoot, things that don't shoot that are slow, and things that don't shoot and are fast. Very boring. Consider how you would have made your game differently if you'd taken out the exp system, offered no weapons sold at shops only arrows and consumables and opened up the map? That said, here's some stuff you did I felt was right. The sell back %: I like that at least you didn't push people by having 50% or less as the sell back rate. You actually promote people buying upgrades on a regular basis instead of hording gold to try and skip upgrades. So, nice move there. Warp system: Given the importance of shops, it was nice there were warps to go back and get new weapons, but why have a cost for them at all? Adding a price seemed arbitrary and the cost didn't even scale for how much money I was making in the later parts of the game, so it might as well not mattered later on. I appreciated it was there at all though.

Under rating threshold (show) Take the gameboy zelda graphics. Add in some graphics in the same style. Green octoroks=green slimes, blue gels=blue slimes. Make everything take tons hits to kill, add in a stat system that seems balanced to have more stats per level than you get. Make common zelda items require you to find them, then put a stat point in to actually use them. And make the xp system force you to grind on either enemies that you can one shot for little xp, or enemies that take TONS of hits for just a bit more. And have the next level keep requiring more and more xp just so you can get 1-2 more damage per level. So that you're better off grinding money and buying the best weapon you can, so that you can one or two shot the big tough enemies. And then find out that the next area enemies take tons of hits even WITH your new weapon. Oh and have quests that give bad weapons, ones that you need something better than the reward to actually beat in a short time. You get this game.
