Crashes my browser every time I hit play. It loads the main screen and then IE just disappears. Yes, I'm using IE7 and most recent Flashv10. Also tried on a Vista and an XP machine, same effect. Meh.

damn game doesnt even save right. Played all the way to the last area, saved, and quit expecting to be able to come back. When I do, nothing. Not doing it again.

Please stop uploading cheats, this game has no story, and cheats just ruin the fun. Use cheats if you are frusturated out of your mind, but don't use them if you don't need them!

what is this!? is it supposed to be a game? if so... its not wroking for me... its playing byitself (kinda like a movie..) i got the adobe 10 player, and im on a mac (i know... he stated it doestnt work on "powermacs" but im not using a "powermac" just a regular mac..)

ROFL! Doom was for DOS, kiddies! Command prompt, IRQs and no mouse support (you're not a PC gamer unless you've struggled with IRQs and DMAs, lol). I've never once called someone a noob, but these comments are making me want to say it! :P

its cool how there Doom 1 here the original but the controls are bad your should be able to use the mouse to aim and look around and the keyboard to move, besides that its a 5/5

@buster : there was no jump in Doom dumbass...
The original control scheme was :
up-down : go forward-reverse
left-right : turn left-right
shift : run modifier
alt : strafe modifier
ctrl : shoot
space : use button/open door
Not very usable per modern standards. This version lacks the strafe modifier. Needs to be much much more responsive, too.
About licensing issues, the Doom engine has been open-sourced so I guess it was possible to port it to flash. However content was never licensed. Doom was originally a shareware with the first episode free. Maybe this game could be legal if only the first episode is included, but IANAL. The full version is still on sale for about 10$ ...

Yes, young ones, this is what first person shooters looked like once upon a time, AND WE LOVED IT!
The game doesn't play itself, it's a demo, all games used to have them. There is no jump key because there was no jump. Control schemes were always like that, and yet that's how we used to play.
Now I'm going to go sit in a corner and feel old.
