Under rating threshold (show) Lovely game! I do not know how to say this, but this game seems so peaceful... No, that's no the word... GAH, really really great and peaceful I mean XD I do not know if a word exists for it. So anyway, you know very few game-makers actually respond to basically ALL of the comments! It is really great to know that a game-maker is actually reading feedback ;) the game is so awesome. One day I really hope you make more games like this. Usually people don't have this type of talent, but these are my favourite type of game. There should be a certain tag for these, only what the heck would it be called? XP So I have so many things to praise about and nothing to point out bad, but I forgot, I'm so sorry :P Greeeeeeaaaaaaattttttt!! Loved it! and everything... <3 if only there was a 100,000,000/5...

Wow! Thank you! It's always lovely to read something so overwhelmingly positive on a Saturday afternoon :) I'm currently working on some very different projects at the moment, but I do intend to make more Text Adventures in the future and I'll give you (and the others who are asking for them) a shout when I do :) Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Under rating threshold (show) Great game 4/5 although it was short I replayed it to find all the endings with the mother and father difference, dryad :D I also love how when I look at the comments above/below this you responded to each one xD the walls that make you sticka little do get a bit annoying, but its great how it is a "choose youre own adventure"

(4)

Developer response from Mimicwing

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) It's nice to hear that you played through for all the different endings; I hope you found it rewarding. Thanks for playing! :)

Under rating threshold (show) Awesome game! it is both deep for those who think deeply about it, and simple for those who just play it as a game. Mimicwing, I didn't notice a problem with the controls, or the collision detection, and even if I did, this game is awesome in every way. In fact, even though I know what's going to happen next, i'm still willing to play through it, for the reasons i mentioned. As for Tom, he did an amazing job helping to give the feel of your game, which is not an easy task, and Sean helped you to get that last bit of play data before it went public, which helped make this game what it is. Thank you all, for all you have done!

+ - !

(4)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Thank you very much :) I'm glad the technical issues didn't hinder your enjoyment of the game, and I shall pass your comments onto Tom & Sean - they'll be very happy to hear it I'm sure! :)

Under rating threshold (show) Good game but why is it 3 stars only...hmm selfish people

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from Mimicwing

I appreciate the sentiment :) As others have noted though, the controls are fairly clunky - and it's very short - so I'm not expecting wonders on the rating front. Still, the ratings & total plays climb up a litle every day, which is a pleasant surprise! :) So, thank you for taking the time to play and comment :)

Under rating threshold (show) i think it's not rated higher because some people wouldn't take the time to do it all.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Slowly but surely the rating is creeping up though; I'm surprised this is still getting plays & ratings at all! So I'm very happy. Thank you! :)

Under rating threshold (show) i really really liked it, though i think that with something that you choose at the very beginning of the story, should make more of a difference than changing two words. where ______ told you the fairy tail, and ______ was chained up and stroked like a pet. That would have made my going through it with both scenarios more rewarding.

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from Mimicwing

I'd have liked to do a lot more with it too! In fact, most of the choices I'd have liked to do a little more with. I'm working on something very different at the moment, but I do have another choose-your-own game lined up, and I can promise lots of intertwining & big consequence choices, so stay tuned! Thank you for playing :)

Under rating threshold (show) I like the concept, however I didn't enjoy the game play. I know part of that is I'm not a big fan of platformers, so take that with a grain of salt. However, as a half-in/half-out kind of person with platformers, one of the things that turns me off is when it FEELS like nearly every jump needs to be perfect, or close to it. In this case, the height that William jumps up near the end of any given level always felt like if I didn't get it right I'd get hit by red. tl;dr I think you turn off casual platformers when the tolerances are too tight. Just my two cents. After all that is said, keep up the experimentation. It's great to see a developer actively talking to the players!

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Mimicwing

From feedback I've had (mostly outside Kongregate actually) - the platforming is a little too harsh, so you're right there. Though, as pointed out in a comment above (and elsewhere) - the collision detection & general controls are fairly stiff and actually quite annoying - I'll be the first to agree with that - so that probably makes the whole ordeal a lot harder than it should be. Still, that's not an excuse: but it's good to see that feedback is generally echoing eachother so I know what to work on when I do a platformer again. Thank you for playing and taking the time to comment! :)

Under rating threshold (show) Hmm. it would be nice if there was a "lose" scenario.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Mimicwing

I agree, actually. I tinkered with the idea of being able to say "I will stay." and being trapped forever, or william having lives like a traditional platformer but felt overall both of those options were a little cheap; frustrated at not being able to come up with a better solution I left it with a Sad vs Happy ending. That said, I shall be doing an extended version of this in the future - and a lose scenario (or two) will be a definite inclusion. Thank you for playing and providing feedback :)

Under rating threshold (show) You have great potential as a game maker. Keep it up. I'd love to see more from you. Most games here are silly, and utterly pointless. But, there are a select few that have true meaning. Some that have real storylines. I'd say that this game is one of those choice few.

+ - !

(3)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Thank you very much, that means a lot to me. :) My next game leans more towards the silly-side of the flash game spectrum, but there shall be many more games - and many more like this - to come! :)

Under rating threshold (show) I love it. It's quite hard (maybe 'cause I'm just bad at it >.>), but I enjoyed it no matter how much time a level took to finish. I'm just sad it isn't longer... :( Well, good games always seem too short. ;)

+ - !

(4)

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm working on something different right now, but I'd like to come back and make something like this - but longer - in the future; so stay tuned! :)

Ah, thanks for catching that - it's something left over from testing that I forgot to remove. Will publish an update in the next day or so with that, and some other issues, fixed. Might help the lag as well. Thanks again

Under rating threshold (show) I would appreciate it more if it saved where you were. (i.e if you crossed the dryad and make her simile, it should save that you did that )

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Interesting, it shoud save that as long as it's in the same play through. If you close the browser it doesn't save, but otherwise if you make the dryad smile, she should be smiling when you return. I shall look into it, thank you for bringing this up.

Under rating threshold (show) Either I suddenly got much better at the platforming bit, or the customised controls definitely helped a lot. Thanks for that. Very enjoyable game, still have to play through it a few more times to get all the endings, but it's not nearly as frustrating as the original control setup.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Fantastic, I'm glad you found a mix of controls you like - this way seems to be keeping everyone happy! Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you've enjoyed it :)

Oct. 25, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) What a charming, novel game, Ben. Real fairytale wish-fulfillment stuff. I really like the concept. The choice of controls was appreciated, and multiple endings is aways a good thing. I enjoyed Tom's music and backgrounds too. Constructive criticisms: That font is hard to read; every screen should include a challenge, or the click through story ones feel somewhat superfluous; I felt you rushed into the story, splitting the second screen into two screens and introducing the situation more slowly would pace it better; centering the story box would prevent the annoying black gap underneath it; the screens were cluttered by those symbols. However, these are all subjective pet peeves, and the game is genuinely enjoyable.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Thank you, Leem ;)

Oct. 25, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) Since I've finished the game (with the chosen controls, thank god) I think this is a great game. I really like those CYOA kind of games that has multiple endings (this had multiple endings right?). I really like how different words in different situations have different difficulty like in "I'm not going to stop now" and "I will not stay" where the first is easier than the latter. Great game, 5/5 and favorited.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Mimicwing

There are indeed multiple endings! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, thank you :) And I've learnt something too: I won't be making any games without customisable controls again in a hurry ;)

Under rating threshold (show) Great idea, loved the combination of choose your own adventure story telling and the platforming gameplay- I thought you meshed them brilliantly. Would agree with the technical issue with the controls as some levels were a bit fiddly but it was still great :)

Oct. 24, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) Only criticism is the controls, but I think you know that's coming by now. Maybe a temporary fix would be to reduce the rate of the projectiles to bring down the difficulty until you get a more fluid movement and collision system set up. Really not my kind of game but I enjoyed it while it lasted...although I doubt I'll play it again unless you ask me really really nicely.

+ - !

(2)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Well Perkins, I'm assuming this is the perkins of the perkin clan, thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it even if it's not your kind of game ;) Pretty sure a drink in the pub will be enough to get you to play it again? (Not that there's much use in that, mind, so I might save my pennies. :P)

MadCrimson

Oct. 24, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) I like the game's idea but getting the Dryad to smile is to frustrating. Will not play on 2/5

+ - !

Developer response from Mimicwing

Sometimes making people smile is the hardest thing in the world, however, in this case, making the Dryad smile is entirely optional. ;)

TheChainSawDude

Oct. 24, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) Why don't you make a W/Spacebar/Up arrow as Jump, A/Right arrow to go right and D/Left Arrow to go left. It'll be much much much more convenient for all of Kongregate. I currently won't be playing the game but I will surely return when the control are fixed. Love the game but my left hand is not used to the control than my right hand :(

+ - !

(0)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Come back in about an hour/hour and a half and there will be a version where you can have whatever combination you like :)

mohirl

Oct. 23, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) It's nearly brilliant, but I got as far as the dryad and gave up in frustration with the controls. Movement feels sluggish, and a/d/space feels really unnatural. Fix that, and based on what I've seen so far, I'd love it.

+ - !

(1)

Developer response from Mimicwing

Thank you for the feedback :) I'm going to work on a screen today where you can choose either to have WASD or Arrow Keys, and then choose whether you'd like your jump button ot be W or Up Arrow or Spacebar. So hopefully there'll be something there for you to get on better with! :)

Under rating threshold (show) up arrow up arrow, up arrow!! I HATE SPACE TO JUMP but that's just me

+ - !

(1)
